Cut/Copy/Paste not working
Cut/Copy/Paste are not working properly in the most recent version of Illustrator (Windows version). I'll cut/copy something, and then it'll refuse to paste. This is not an error with my hardware, the clipboard works fine on every other program.
If you have this problem, please try to answer these:
1. Do you have an external clipboard managing app installed?
2. Does this get better if you disable 'Include SVG Code' in Preferences > Clipboard Handling?
3. Do Edit > Paste menu commands get disabled when you try to paste and fail?
4. Does it happen only when you try to paste text, or does it fail for non-text artwork as well?

I can confirm that the issue has NOT yet been solved.
I manage to force it to it work (with 80% success rate) when I hit [ctrl]+[c] several times in a row. Then I usually open the top menu "Edit" and make sure that "Paste" command are active (which means that something has been copied).
I also could observe that the success rate raises for objects which are NOT a part of any group or complex paths. This, however, is not a rule. Just my own observation. -

it's not a logitech issue. I have used three separate keyboards, Corsair, Logitech and dell. All three do the the same thing. It's intermittent, so thinking the keyboard may be the issue us misleading. I have two separate computers doing this at my work. (im the IT person as well). different versions of Illustrator CC, but Illustrator CS% (old CD version) works just fine. It's all the new cloud software that's being problematic. Other programs copy and paste just fine. I even have other stuff paste into illustrator because the copy in illustrator does not "take"..... Devs!!!!! please fix this issue. it's maddening!

THANK YOU Alex Smith ! I actually think it could come from there. I'm going to harass Logitech now! :-) Thank you very much, I'm so tired of struggling with this.

I don't know if this is the cause of everyone else's issues, but I realized that there's a compatibility issue between Logi Options + (the software for Logitech's MX keyboard and mouse) and Adobe programs. After completely uninstalling Logi Options +, copy/paste is working for me again. I submitted a ticket with Logitech a few months ago, and of course nothing has been resolved.

Why is this not solved yet? It is so disruptive!!! For the price we pay, an ancient bug should really have been fixed... Please, fix it!!

Adding that this is infuriating. As others have stated, copy/paste works in every other program I am running.
Restarting Illustrator didn't fix the problem.
The only thing that seemed to fix it was closing every single other program I was running. Super annoying, inconvenient, disruptive, infuriating, and just dumb.
Here is a Reddit thread of people having the exact same problem with 30+ comments from other people having the exact same problem.
Did you see how I did that? Copy/paste works great in Chrome. Not Illustrator though.
Fix it.

It is a very old bug. It doesn't matter which Mac OS or Illustrator version you have installed. After working a few doing charts, Illustrator stops accepting pasted data. Adobe doesn't care about as they doesn't care about copy/paste in place on artboards (another annoying bug).

Same here it is very annoying, I even chat with tech support and the only reset prefs, but then the issue came back!

Same here. Very annoying as it disrupts with my workflow. Had to open-close the project I'm doing multiple time every 2 minutes is crazy, as I mainly deal with text and typography in my work.
The copy paste function works as usual in other apps.

I have this problem too, it's really messing with my workflow. I tried different troubleshooting but all is good. I can copy-paste and cut-paste on other software without a problem, so I believe it's a problem with Illustrator.

I have the same problem. Please do something Adobe. ITS ANNOYING AND I COMPROMISE MY WORKFLOW.
This often happen with text box (I have to outline everything and then the program allows me to copy and paste).
I have already tried several times with erase the clipboard and also with restore the preferences (Edition --> General). Those two methods sometimes work, but lately this bug got RANDOM and right now is happening again and nothing is working, I DONT WANT TO RESTART THE PROGRAM.
Again, ANNOYING AND IM PAYING FOR THIS!

This has been an issue for years, judging by the unresolved Reddit / Adobe forum posts. It's infuriating, such a basic and needed feature doesn't work! I find it super annoying, 4 out of 5 times it doesn't paste.

Also, when I just quit Illustrator this message appeared in After Effects:
After Effects (Beta) error: could not parse mask shape on clipboard.

Hi, I can sometimes copy / cut and paste in Illustrator, sometimes not. This has only been noticed in the last day or so. Could be tied to certain documents, unclear as of yet. I have tried copying (when it works) a document's contents into a new do, and the problem persists, which may indicate that there is a problem with some of the artwork?
When it doesn't want to copy it doesn't matter if I'm using keyboard shortcuts or the menu option, the copy operation does not work and the paste menu items remain greyed out. Very similar to the symptoms reported here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/copy-paste-command-not-working/td-p/13368238I'd class this as a critical bug, as it's affecting basic system functions. Copy and paste are working fine in all other apps tested.
Any help or guidance much appreciated, as this is seriously affecting my ability to deliver for clients.
