Hand tool is getting stuck in 29.1, massive performance issues

Since yesterday Illustrator has virtually become unusable to me and I have no idea what happened. I didn't install any new apps.

The issue is seems to be focused around using spacebar to pan around my document. It gets stuck on the hand tool and the pan itself is laggy. When using the middle button on my mouse, the pan works perfectly though.

Left clicking on elements and manipulating them is an unsurmountable task with these issues, effectively making Illustrator unusable to me now...

I really hope someone else is also experiencing this, but I haven't been able to find any resources.

I tried everything. Restart my Mac. Reinstall Illustrator. Tried older versions. All the same...

    私はMagnet アプリは使っていませんが、スペースバーを押すとエラーが頻繁に起こります。

    Spotifyも同時に使っているため、スペースバーを押すことで音楽の停止動作とIllustratorでのエラーが起こっているようにも思う

    I don't use the Magnet app, but I keep getting errors when I press the spacebar.

    I also use Spotify at the same time, so pressing the space bar seems to stop the music and cause an error in Illustrator.

    (FR) Quand je clique sur n'importe quel objet, le logiciel freeze entièrement pendant 1 seconde, que ce soit avec le curseur noir ou blanc. Si je bouge la souris pendant ce temps, de manière totalement aléatoire, l'objet que je sélectionne se déplace avec mon curseur.

    Au bout de quelques minutes de travail avec les bug précédent, mon curseur reste sur l'outil main alors que je ne l'ai pas utilisé sur le moment, et impossible de reprendre un autre outil sans relancer le logiciel.

    Ces bugs sur des outils primaires rendent Illustrator inutilisable pour moi.

    v29.1, MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1

    Wow, I've had the same thing happen to me recently. It was fixed immediately after I uninstalled Magnet. Thank you for posting and helping out! I hope this gets resolved soon!

    After closing the Magnet app, the anomaly disappeared!

    私もこのトラブルで困っています。illustrator ver2024でも2025でも同様です。
    Mac Studio 2022、M1 Max、OS Sonoma 14.6.1です。

    Quitting ”Magnet” app solved the problem (and the delay between clicking on on a path and actually being able to apply some changes to it). So: bye bye Magnet . . .

    I've been searching for a solution to this for a few days. It seemed to start after last Thursday (21 Nov). I quit Magnet and it seems to be sorted.

    同じ症状で困っております
    PC再起動、ソフト再起動、ソフトアンインストール、再インストール
    やってもダメです
    どうしたら良いのでしょうか？

    The last update Magnet had happened in 21 of November: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/magnet/id441258766?mt=12
    Some users reported this problem with Adobe apps started earlier than this.
    I wrote them a message through they contact form (https://magnet.crowdcafe.com/contact.html), but got no reply so far.
    I have no idea what is causing the problem, Ai or Magnet, but I think knocking both doors has better chances. I’m more inclined to think it’s Magnet’s problem, since downgrading Ai (several versions back!) doesn’t help If there is a way to downgrade and see if previous versions of Magnet worked better, I suggest trying it and contacting them.

    Thanks a lot Egor, I have it and tried to shut it down and the problem doesn't appear again .. Can't tell you how this was driving me crazy 🤯

    Is there is any fix that I can run Illustrator and Magnet together or I will have to deal with that .. considering this was not happening before is it a Magnet Bug ?!

    Press the space bar to use the hand tool and the hand tool needs to be released, but it stays and stumbles
