I agree, but I personally think that I would prefer something in between, and others would definitely like the way it is.
Please, can you add an option to change weight of hidden characters, at least these three?AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) shared this idea · -

Please get in touch with us at sharewithai@adobe.com
Please create a sample file in CC 2017 with styles that you do not see in CC 2018. Create a package out of it so that we also get the font files for investigation and share the package with us. For sharing the package you can either upload to your creative cloud files or any other file sharing system like Dropbox, Wetransfer etc..Warm Regards,

An error occurred while saving the comment Nice illustrations! ...and a nasty bug. I believe I had something similar once, but was not able to isolate the thing.
Having this file and proofs on hands will help to fix it finally!
I won’t ask you to share the document here, but please send it to sharewithai@adobe.com for the team to test it and see what is happening exactly. Please provide clear steps and a small video recording if you are able to record one.An error occurred while saving the comment Can’t reproduce on 25.3.1 Win. What OS are you on?
Does it happen for any project, any artboard?
What does the Align To in the Align panel show when you make the first alignment? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Melinda, looks like one of your Shift keys is stuck.
I tried to simulate that and got the same behaviour as you described.
I suggest that some app (never caught Ai on that though) must have forgot to release it. Try to restart you computer and check if it is fixed. -

Yes, Karabiner could help.
In scripts you should check units. I work in CMYK and metric scale mostly, you could edit it to perform for your cause. An error occurred while saving the comment Ryan, I can share two scripts (plus and minus) you can wrap in actions and assign F hotkeys to it. Will it suffice for now? I agree it should come from the box, but this works too.
And if you are on Windows, you can use AHK to reassign them to any other combination you want, not only Fs. Mac has something other for this, I forgot the name. -

An error occurred while saving the comment You can do it.
Create an object, set a stroke (and/or a fill) you like, Alt+drag it over the [Default] style in Graphic Styles panel — this will fix your default settings in this particular document. Same with Character and Paragraph Styles. If you want these changes to be permanent, applied to a new document you create, you should make these changes IN New Document Profile files, located somewhat like here (Windows):
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 25 Settings\en_US\x64\New Document Profiles (you can browse this folder, pressing More Settings in New Document dialog’ right pane to call a 'legacy' settings, clicking Profile dropdown and choosing Browse...You might have problems on rewriting these directly in the folder, depending on you user account privileges, so copy them (and backup) first and then overwrite originals, once you set defaults to your needs. Backup these too, because Ai rewrites them when updated.

An error occurred while saving the comment On Windows I am able to paste a text copied from Illustrator to the Range field in Export dialog...
On Mac, can you paste there a text copied from another source originally? What is the text you trying to paste? -
