I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 26.1.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Draw an object.
2. Remember generally where its points are.
3. Hide the object (Object > Hide > Selection)
4. Lasso select where 1 or more points were.
5. Delete.
6. Unhide the object (Object > Show All)Result: Object will have points deleted.
Expected result: Object is unaffected.

First day using 2021 and I ran into this bug immediately. Screen recording attached.
Some notes:
• Lasso is the only selection tool affected
• In the video, I'm moving with nudge (arrow keys) but moving with Selection or Direct Selection tools also affected
• Quick Lasso selections will randomly highlight/select locked paths/shapes
• Happens regardless of stroke/fill combinations
• Lasso selections that overlap unlocked and locked artwork will move the entire locked artwork, not just overlapped pointsWill CC to sharewithai@adobe.com

64 votesThis issue is probably happening because the artboard dimensions are not appropriate for raster export (i.e. are in decimals).
If you make x and y values as the whole numbers in the transform panel (not in decimal), then the extra pixels will not be added to the exported image. That is the workaround, and it’s reported that it’s not always the case.
At the same time — Ai knows the size of artboards to be exported and yet it does not deliver the set sizes, which is not fair. The team is going to rethink the algorithm.

Hi,
Thanks for reporting this issue, Illustrator Team really appreciate this.
We are able to reproduce this issue and investigating this further.Kindly use below mentioned workaround meanwhile:
1)Set macOS UI to “System Preferences → General → Highlight Color to any other options in UI than Graphite”Regards

Confirming, this fix worked for me. Even setting the Highlight Color to an identical color.

Six years waiting for a pretty simple quality of life improvement.
Figma's colour entry is really elegant:
Enter 8 >> Result: #888888
Enter 8f >> #8F8F8F
Enter 8f5 >> #88FF55
...and if you happen to copy-paste a color in a different format, like RGB, even RGBA, no problem:
Enter 127, 127 ,127 >> #7F7F7F
Enter 255, 99, 71, 0.5 >> #FF6347
Ideally, this behaviour would work both in the Color panel and Color Picker modal.
