  1. Full Window Crosshairs (always on option)

    I would like to see an option for full window crosshairs/X&Y guides always intersecting at the cursor point. It is difficult to explain but I have attached a mock up image. This would act similar to the guides when dragging and aligning objects.

  2. Dragging swatch to a gradient point does not replace it but places it right on top.

  3. Two or more ruler measurement and document units at a time

    I would like the ability to see multiple ruler measurement units, at a time. The simplest way would be to have multiple color coded rulers. The ruler closest to the art-board would be the active ruler for anything currently displaying unit measurements.

    the other rulers would help relational thinkers and visual learners get a better understanding of how units relate to each other.

  4. Allow to set font-size by setting x-height and cap height

    I very often create designs where I should have certain x-height.
    Now I have to achieve this using long workaround (I do it very quick now, but now quick enough, and its not actionable):
    1. Create copy of typed text with Ctrl+C, Ctrl+F
    2. Outlining copy
    3. Finding symbol with flat top an bottom (x or X or similar)
    4. Choose Direct selection tool
    5. Shift+click chosen letter
    6. Deleting unwanted symbols from copy
    7. Scale outline of chosen letter 1000%
    8. Going outline mode (enlarged letter will probably take whole screen)
    9. Shift+click at live text behind letter
    10.…

    I am glad to remind all who voted for this feature that it is now possible to set a font size as x-height or cap height with Show Font Height Options toggle enabled in Character panel menu.

    Some issues still remain, yes, like, wrong size calculation if a font has rounded stems that end below baseline (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/44639661-font-height-options-misbehave-with-rounded-fonts), or inability to focus the dropdown with Tab (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/41836618-font-height-options-tab-order), or calculating font height by measuring glyphs instead of reading the actual value within the font (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/41615035-cap-height-setting-not-using-font-cap-height), but overall this is done, works, and super cool, don’t you think?

  5. Photoshop Color adjustment

    It would be great to have the same color adjustments than Photoshop (curve, hue&saturation, level etc...)

  6. Better Colour Separations

    Illustrator does not print all Photoshop DCS (.eps) colour separations since CS6. It always returns a blank plate.
    As a Screen printer, it would be nice to have seamless colour separations for my RIP.

  7. Import plt (hpgl) files

    I want to import plt files directly in Illustrator.
    Today I have to use an online converter or import the plt file using Front Design or even CorelDraw.
    This file (.plt) is generated by the Audaces program.
    No even the dxf file exported by Audaces is imported by Illustrator. The Illustrator only import the code instead.

  8. Artboard dimension pop up box when using Artboard tool.

    Would love for the Artboard tool in the tools panel to operate like the rectangle tool so that when you click inside the work space it pops open a box to input
    desired dimensions instead of dragging to desired dimension.

  9. Allow Scale adjustment when creating New Document

    Many times as a designer you have to create artwork that is a fraction of the final scale. It would be nice if you could enter the final size in inches or feet, and then hit a dropdown that would have different fractions of scale (1/8, 1/4, 1/2 etc.) and then illustrator could compute the appropriate numbers. It could also scale down the bleed area as well.

  10. Interaction in graphic styles, with several inputs

    Graphic styles is only something you apply. I would like some interactions possibilities with the graphic styles, so that you for example could get an interactions panel that told you what kind of interactions you could do (insert photo/graphic/text etc). And that when you clicked on each possible interaction in the panel, then a pin, marked box or something would highlight in the graphic where the input would take place. Like many web images have, with hot spots. Would be one way to do it. The important thing is not how it is done, but that you get to have…

  11. Relative placement shapes in appearance panel

    When you use shapes in appearance panel and save to reuse, then the look you get is depending on the text you type in as these shapes move in relation to the text. If I want to have a square that does not move with the text but at the beginning of text, no matter how long text, then that is impossible. Would be great with more options and fix regarding all this with shapes in appearance panel.

  12. Real-time file collaborative editing, with multiple users at once

    I would suggest that Illustrator can open a file on several devices, perhaps 2 or 3 max. and allow a team of designers to work and brainstorm on the same file at the same time as an online service from Adobe.
    This can be used for other adobe design programs as well such as Photoshop.

  13. Remember the 'Use Artboard' and 'Suffix' checkboxes when exporting

    When I export (SVGs and other formats) I have to check "Use artboard" every time... why not just remember this setting has been checked or uncheck from before

  15. appearance fill shape options rectangle - set percentage also (instead of points)

    Hi! In Appearance fill "shape options" where one can set background rectangle. It would be good if you could set percentage values and not only points. Because it limits the use. Then the look depend on how big your artwork is. It is a difference to have 10 point margin to a square 100 point rectangle compared to 1000 point rectangle. So please add that possibility. Thanks!

  16. Option to have Anchor and/or Control Points always visible in Preview and/or Outline modes

    Sometimes it would be nice to see the anchor points of other objects, when drawing a new object. It would be nice if you could add an option to the outline mode that would not only show all lines but also every anchor point, no matter if the a path is selected or not.

  17. Find Font window panel - expandable/resizable and searchable

    Please simply allow the Find Font window panel to be expandable/resizable. Difficult to tell between the different weights on long font names such as:
    Helvetica Neue LT Extended Heavy
    vs
    Helvetica Neue LT Extended Black

    The panel needs more horizontal space or even a tooltip to pop-out the full font name.

  18. I want to switch off the circular cursor and use only the brush icon or the cross

    Does anybody know how to switch off the circular cursor and use only the brush icon or the cross.

    I try Caps Lock and the precision cursor, it does not disable the circle.

  19. Artistic Corner Options

    I had to make a customized corner style for a project that needed to match its existing vintage look and realized how limited the options were. I had to paste the shape into indesign and even then I still needed to modify them after I converted it back to Ai in order to match the desired look.
    I know with nowadays minimalism we rarely make complicated borders and corners anymore but I still don't get it why we have millions of fancy brushes for stroke but non for corner....

    I hope there'll be an update with better options for this…

  20. Drop shadow can't use global color swatches

    Drop shadow's color can be set to global swatch, but is doesn't stick to the effect, it only got sampled. So when you change your global swatch, shadow remains colored with previous color.
    Please, make Drop shadow and other raster effects use global swatches for real.
