  1. export for screens - file name as prefix option

Add a checkbox to allow the current file name to be used as the prefix in the export for screens dialogue, similar to the functionality in InDesign.

Currently you need to manually copy/paste the filename into the prefix box.

Also if the prefix box could be made larger that would be great - it only has room for approx. 10 characters at the moment, and naming conventions mean that our filenames are often much longer than that.

    Cheers!

  2. Export Artboards as PowerPoint or Keynote slides

I like using Illustrator to design complexe slides or icons, illustrations… for my slides and I’d like to export them by maintaining vector capabilities to have the ability in PowerPoint or Keynote to change their color and to scale them freely.

I know plug-ins or some export format will somehow works for some cases.
But it will be so nice to have a straight forward export!

  3. Print option to select which artboard(s) to rotate

I have an illustrator file open with 2 artboards in it. I am trying to print them both on 1 page (double sided). I can do that, however, I am having problems with one side of the page being upside down. Is there a way to fix this; other than manually flipping one of the artboards 180 degrees prior to printing?

My thought would be to have a feature in Illustrator (& other Adobe programs) in the print dialog box under the orientation section. Utilizing the auto-rotate checkbox, if you uncheck it you could have an option to select which…

  5. A polygon option for a Pen Tool

Recently I've noticed that I'm missing one option – switching off the Bezier anchors by the pen tool. I would like to draw a continuously (joined) straight line, without accidentally changing it into a bezier curve. While drawing fast with a Wacom pen or with a mouse, it's easy to move the cursor before jumping to the next place and thereby, by accident pull the Bezier handle and proceeding a curve. I use Affinity Designer on iPad and there exists an option for the pen tool – a polygon. I'm looking for something similar that in Illustrator.

    I woud be…

  6. Ability to copy individual effects from the Appearance panel to other objects

Currently if you want to copy effects from one object to another your only option is to copy all of its appearance properties. You should be able to drag or copy just one aspect of something’s appearance without effecting the other properties. Say I have a Transform effect on an object in my Appearance panel. Currently if I want to apply that to another object, I also have to copy the stroke, fill and any other properties that object has. There is no option to copy just that individual transform effect to other objects. This is an unnecessary limitation that…

  7. Please let list of scripts displayed in File > Scripts get updated

When I add or make changes to Scripts folder, I have to relaunch AI to make it see changes. How difficult it would be to add an option there to auto-update it, or just to add command 'Update scripts'?

  8. Chromebook / ChromeOS compatibility

My school is considering purchasing a laser cutter/engraver to be housed in the Library for all students to use, and I understand that we will also need to purchase software such as Adobe Illustrator. The problem is that many of our students use Chromebooks, which really don't have a hard drive. We're not in favor of just having 1 or 2 Windows machines sitting by the cutter/engraver, mostly because that limits usage. Is there any other option? Does Adobe offer a Chromebook-compatible software? Or, is there any way that a student could design something in another program, then import…

  9. Embed as attachment a DXF version of the illustration in the Export as PDF option

Most often when designing files for logo or marquing tools we need to export a viewable PDF version and e CAD file as DXF.
In order to keep them synced, it's convenient to attach the DXF as an attachment in the PDF.

Could it be possible to impement this workflow in Illustrator? either in the "Export PDF" option or via a script/action command?

    Many Thanks

  10. It would be helpful if you had the option to cancel a quit.

It would be helpful to have a cancel button for when you quit the program. I constantly hit Command Q instead of Command W and I have no option to save my work before it quits. All I can do is clear the clipboard.

  12. Option to turn off the warning about deleting a layer containing artwork

How do I turn off the warning about deleting a layer containing artwork? There's no "don't show again" option in the pop-up. :(
In my line of work I delete layers with artwork constantly and it does take time to click the warning dozens if not hundred times a day. I use Illustrator 27.1.1.

  14. An option to Consider End Handles when filling open paths

In illustrator we can to adjust start and end point handles in open path, but it have not much sense. What about to consider this handles to adjust shape of the object fill. Not on strait line like usual, but in way like we want. By the way, if we decide to close the path, Ai should make it in that way too.
So, we doesn't need two objects with stroke and shape separately, it will be one object with adjustable end handles.

  15. A keyboard shortcut option for "Redefine Graphic Style" in the Appearance panel's menu

I have shifted to a very Graphic Style-focused workflow lately and find myself constantly hitting this menu item when I'm figuring out exactly what a Style should look like. I would like to be able to assign a shortcut to it.

It is currently nowhere to be found in the Keyboard Shortcuts panel. It is also one of the many, many actions in Illustrator that can't be recorded in an Action.

There's a lot of menu items in Illustrator's panels that have these problems and it would be great to have a general fix for all of them, but this…

  16. Remap ⌥← and ⌥→ (Option + Left / Right) to jump back/ahead one word

Make ⌥← and ⌥→ default for jumping one word back and forth or respectively mark text when pressing "shift" as used to in Premiere Pro and by default on Mac. Same issue exists in Photoshop where these shortcuts are annoyingly used to adjust kerning.

  17. Resize linked images to 100%, or adjust image’s scale / resolution

Right click on an imported or linked image (Like a picture you just took with your phone or any other image) and have an option "Resize to Original Size" or "Resize to 100%." Similar to Apple's Keynote application for imported images when you click the button "Original Size."

  18. Add a slider to the History panel to quickly review the states of the document

If we want to go back to a certain history state of the current document , we can scroll the History panel and click each step item, guessing the time, judging by the names of these, the scrollbar position (limited by the capped amount of steps)...
It’s a guesswork in most cases, since some steps still have generic names (like always 'Move' and not 'Move Point', 'Move Handle', 'Move Segment', 'Move Path', 'Move Group'...)

Can I just grab a slider and scrub with it, seeing all the previous states rendered on canvas — and fast? Today Ai sometimes takes too…

  19. Actions panel

Everything is so tiny, and the actions panel is too. When you run an action you see all steps, and if you want to try another of your actions you have to scroll a mile to get there. It's very difficult to get an overview of the actions you have. So I would like to see the steps of the action in a separate window, so that you don't loose the overview of your actions. You shouldn't see all steps in the same list as the actions that you have. Also I would like to be able to have some…

  20. Incorporate a shortcut inside gradient's panel

I would like to suggest to incorporate the shortcut D for "reset" the 2 initial colors inside the gradient's panel to system standard colors (black and white). I usually use as a last step before finishing my artworks some shadows for a more realistic depth/aspect using black-to-white together with multiply. The D shortcut reset the main stroke and fill colors main swatches, so it would be a little bit faster if the software understands the D as this way while it's working on gradient's setup windows.
