Preference setting for a common "root" folder for add-on files
It would be great if the Illustrator Preferences had a way to specify a central root folder for the location of (and default save location) for add-ons, such as Brushes, Graphic styles, Swatches Templates, and others. (Similar to the existing "Additional Plug-ins Folder" setting).
Illustrator currently seems to have very scatterbrained way of handling files, which I am sure there is some history or reason for, depending on the team that happened to develop that section of code.
Examples:

Change the basis of the the zero angle
I've always found the decision to have zero degrees along the horizontal odd and out of whack with many other applications and approaches. Being able to assign it vertical (north), would be much more useful and predictable, so as not needing to assign negative or positive values, or other weird differentials to actually get the correct angle.

I want simple features like "path-continuation" or a simple way to color shapes that were made by paths.
Okay im super new to Illustrator and just got kind of used to Photoshop but now I try to make some stuff with Illustrator and run in constant issues.
I actually spent more time looking up extremely basic things that should simply work but are hidden somewhere or not possible? in Illustrator than I got to work on the things I tried to make.

Add option for sketch-style relative positioning for grouped objects
Ex: I create a button that consists of a rectangle with the text "submit" centered in it. No matter how wide or tall I make the rectangle, I want "submit" to remain centered horizontally and vertically within it.
Sketch allows this via "pinning". I can set a parent object-- in this case, the rectangle-- and tell a child object---in this case, the text-- to maintain a certain distance from the top, left, right, and/or bottom of the parent object, or to remain centered to the object at all times, regardless of how the parent is scaled.

Chart enhancement request
Most of the time I work on creating charts, sometimes which will be recurring charts. So my request is if we can embed spreadsheet just like in Indesign for tables, it would save time and also if we have option to add values on top of column chart and at the same time controlling alignment would be much helpful.

Relative placement shapes in appearance panel
When you use shapes in appearance panel and save to reuse, then the look you get is depending on the text you type in as these shapes move in relation to the text. If I want to have a square that does not move with the text but at the beginning of text, no matter how long text, then that is impossible. Would be great with more options and fix regarding all this with shapes in appearance panel.

Blend shapes or lines along a curved path, like a "spline".
Type can be arranged along a custom curved path. Why not blends? As it is now, if I want to arrange repeating vertical lines along a curved horizontal path, I have to: create the blend in a straight line, then: line by line, go along the blend cutting off bits to match the curved horizontal baseline. I can make it look decent, but it takes quite a while.

create outlines into groups
It would help my pre production workflow a lot if it was possible to automatically create "separated" groups from text objects when I use create outlines on big chunk of text. For now one text block equals one object. It could be a function allowing me to produce single groups for every line shift for example.

False translation in preferences window
In preferences window's unit section the "type" text is translated wrong.
Type must be translated as "yazı" or "yazım" as in the top menu.The text "tür" must be corrected as "yazı" or "yazım".

Scale Calligraphic Brush - create new brush option
If you scale a path item with 10 pt stroke at 200%, you will get a path item with a 20 pt stroke. Note, the "Scale Strokes & Effects" option is enabled.
However, if a calligraphic 3 pt brush is scaled 200% (with a default stroke weight of 1pt and "Scale Strokes & Effects" enabled) the result will produce a calligraphic 3 pt brush with a 2pt stroke. Visually the brush stroke will appear bigger but the path item is still connected to the 3 pt brush.

add an alert optional alert sound
I would like to have an option to enable an alert sound whenever I nudge or move an object in Illustrator. This would help me avoid accidental movements that can ruin my design or cause alignment issues. Sometimes I don’t notice that I have moved an object slightly when I click on it, and it can be very frustrating and time-consuming to fix it later.

stroke width tool more defined errors with conflicting properties.
There are several things that do not allow the use of the "stroke width tool", like brushes, or having the stroke non aligned to the center... but right now the tool gives no hint about what is the issue, and why is not working.
What about giving you a more specific error, and showing the option to dissable this conflicting property. (if you cannot work around the stroke width in this circumstances.)1 vote -

Adding Pages/Sheets like in Excel for better organization of large jobs. I work at a sign company and frequently come across large jobs that I would like to keep organized.
For example let's use a job I am on right now. It is a job for hospital signage. Over 500 signs in total and let's say 15 departments. Some departments have upto 20 signs. While artboards work well in this instance it would be nice if I could have the option to organize the departments with "sheets" instead of individual files. Edit Character properties in a mixed selection
When having a complex set of objects selected, including one ore more Text Objects, it would be nice to have access to the Character/Paragraph properties.
Current version simply ignores any changes when something else is selected besides a Text Object.

Better Opacity Shortcuts
As far as I can tell, the only opacity shortcuts are:

The ability to set a line length, no matter what angle the line is on.
It would be great if there was a section in the transform panel where you could enter a length for a line (instead of setting a height and width for the bounding box).
This way it would not matter what angle the line was draw at, it could be set to a specific length.
I've currently been drawing a vertical line, setting a height and then rotating to the correct angle but it is very tedious!
