Allow to align pins in the puppet warp tool with each other
In the process of creating brushes from existing artwork, the puppet warp tool is very helpful. But currently, I have to manually align the "spine" of an object and make use of the ruler. See attached.
Unless of course, I am missing a step? I tried the align tool and it doesn't work for the pins for me. Would love if it did.

Modification of pattern through keyboard shortcut
There was a very useful option available in very old versions of Illustrator (before CC). When I need to modify a pattern applied to an object but not the object itself (scaling, rotating, shearing, mirroring, etc...) , it was possible to do it manually, not throught he box, by pressing a key — to be chosen in the keyboard shortcut menu — while moving the mouse or using the increment keys. It was much faster and flexible than to have to go through the box, deselect the "apply to object" option and repeat several time. It would be great…

Allow "Welcome to Illustrator" presets to be customized to actual user presets
When the landing or launch page for Illustrator CC2021 opens, there is a box of presets under the line "Welcome to Illustrator.
This system will not allow a drop or upload of either an AI nor JPG screenshot...the default presets are Postcard, Letter, Common, iPhone X, HDTV 1080p and "More Presets."
In my case, I never use any one of those presets, so I have to click "Create New" or "More Presets," which are the same outcomes, then click my way through the various options to get to "Web Large."
It would be nice if (a) the user could enhance…

Show the exact location where snapping to grid occurs
Snap to Grid is underrated. Illustrator makes everything to make it uncomfortable to use: no constantly available indicator, clashing with Smart Guides, the general lack of customization (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/32403847-make-center-point-visible-while-dragging-art)...
And also it does not give enough feedback on WHERE the moved / transformed object snaps to, to which exact gridlines’ intersection.
Something just happens!
Look at the GIF — this 13.25×13.25 magenta square feels like it’s lagging, also I’m just trying to position it.Look at the second GIF, from Affinity Designer. Can you spot the difference? We can clearly see which point it snaps to, no problem.…

Make the Touch Type Tool work both sides
OK, I'm having this "workflow" issue with the Touch Type Tool.
I like to be able to move 1 character at a time, rotate, move, scale.
But I'm a bit annoyed because SOMETIMES, I'd love it to NOT change the text after. So I usually have to reverse-compensate by making negative kerning on the next character.
See the image attached :
1. I justified my type between the 2 green margins.
-> Nice.
2. I change the H character (scale/rotation)
-> Getting out of the green margin.
3. I change the character after (negative kerning)
-> Back into nice green…8 votes -
Automatically Export artboards as placed 300dpi jpgs
When I am done with my vector work and am ready to go to print I have to export each artboard and then import each jpg and place into the artboards and adjust to fit.
I propose you develop a setting where we can choose to rasterize and replace the vector work perfectly in the artboard with a 300dpi CMYK jpg (or settings to achieve a variety of options).

Turn off effects in outline mode
I never really understood why effects are loaded in the background in outline mode. Why is it necessary to load an effect when you don't even see it? I thought the purpose of outline mode was for when the artwork have become heavy and takes longer time to load. The usual reason why my artwork becomes so heavy is because of all the effects I use. I wish I could switch to outline mode for quick edits instead of having to wait for the effect to load every time I do a tiny adjustment. Effects should be turned off…

Extended Tools Panel
Less frequently used tools (in my case: Scissors, Paint Bucket) are hard to find in the standard Tools Palette. Wouldn't it be great when Illustrator had a preset to show all tools at a glance (on my 30" screen...)?
I know that it is possible to create custom tools panels - but especially when creating those, it's nice to have a view on all tools at once!
2 votesIn latest version one can click small three dots at the bottom of the Tools panel and see all tools at once, including those which are already in the toolbox.

Speed up Redraw with All Thumbnail Options on One Button
Switching off thumbnails for improved draw speed means switching various options and locations to get the layer, object and transparency thumbs all switched off. Working many customer files per day this is a drag.
Please put them all on one "thumbs" radio button with options for all-on, all-off, or custom preference, so I can get my work done faster.
Make this an application preference rather than document preference to save me even more time.

Allow to show contents (unfurl) of compound paths in Layers
Illustrator treats a compound path as a single entity, no matter how many singular paths it has inside.
Layers panel does not display '>' next to the name of it, and does not allow to unfurl the item to see what it has inside.
It makes sense in a way, since the order of items does not matter (it is for a Compound Shapes, where it matters a lot, with e.g. 'Minus Front').
At the same time, we can still select a subpath of a compound path with the Group Selection tool, and use Object > Arrange commands (even though…

Actions for Image Tracing
Hi Adobe, PLEASE can you add more detail to the actions. For example, when I run an image trace, I don't just want to rerun the last one as I have different presets. I want to be able to say use the "Outline Fills" Image Trace and expand. Additionally these should be able to be adjusted later by double clicking the action line - like photoshop does
Thank you!

Display all font names in default language
The new Illustrator Adobe Fonts interface displays CJK fonts using their native language name. This is OK for people who are fluent in every language, but may be hard to use depending on who you are. Additionally, the font cannot be searched for using its English name. This is not consistent with InDesign's Adobe Fonts implementation, which still uses all English names.
Please make Illustrator's CJK font display entirely in English, similar to InDesign's, or at least display a searchable English name in brackets.

Toggle Lasso tool
When using the direct select tool, use a key modifier to toggle the lasso tool rather than always having to completely switch tools to get the lasso tool.

Add a forced 'lowercase' option in the Character panel’s menu, similar to one InDesign has
InDesign has a way to force a selected text to be always displayed in lowercase.
Illustrator does not offer this option, as the attached screenshots show.
This option would be useful for cases when a font relies mostly on lower-case characters, using its upper case for emphasis, rather than a traditional usage of it, for starting sentences and given names with capitals — not uncommon in comics.
A current workaround is to run the native Type > Change Case > lowercase each time a text gets pasted (or setting up a custom routing with third-party apps to change the text…4 votes -
Gradient Eye Dropper click and drag to analyze the colors under the length of a vector
if i drag my cursor across an image the illustrator program should be able to make an assessment of the various properties of color under the path that was drawn.
this could easily be turned into a pallet with relational distance parameters and a cool gradient tool with a number of samples resolution feature to adjust the density of changes across the gradient would be very welcome in our illustrator tool set.

Type in stroke width value instead of pull down menu in Character styles
In Character Styles the stroke width only provides a pull down menu to choose from. It would be better if we could type in an exact value.
The stroke width of texts needs to be very precise in my work, but the pull down menu is too limited to provide an accurate enough value. (The gaps between available options in the menu are too big.)When I create a new character style by selecting text and adding a new style, the style contains the correct stroke width. But when I need to adjust the width afterwards I can only pick…

Actions panel
Everything is so tiny, and the actions panel is too. When you run an action you see all steps, and if you want to try another of your actions you have to scroll a mile to get there. It's very difficult to get an overview of the actions you have. So I would like to see the steps of the action in a separate window, so that you don't loose the overview of your actions. You shouldn't see all steps in the same list as the actions that you have. Also I would like to be able to have some…

Animated Zoom for Mouse wheel
Please add the Animated Zoom function for the mouse wheel, now this can only be done using the "Z" key and the mouse movement. It is very inconvenient to scroll using alt + mouse wheel when the percentage of increase jumps from 66% to 100% in one turn of the mouse wheel. The trackpad on the macbook zooms very well, but it is not convenient to use. Add a switch to the "General" settings next to the scroll wheel " Use Animated Zoom to scroll with the mouse.

Gap Tool and Live Distribute like InDesign has, with improvements
InDesign has Gap Tool — https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/aligning-distributing-objects.html#align_objects_using_the_gap_tool
Also it has Live Distribute —helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/aligning-distributing-objects.html#distributeobjectsusinglivedistribute
These allow us to control a gap’s size between chosen pair of elements (quoted):
—Drag to move the gap and resize all objects aligned along the gap.
— Shift-drag to move the gap between only the two nearest objects.
— Ctrl-drag (Windows) or Command-drag (Mac OS) to resize the gap instead of moving it. Adding the Shift key resizes the gap between only the two nearest objects.
— Alt-drag (Windows) or Option-drag (Mac OS) to move the gap and objects in the same direction.…
