  1. Dynamic Connector Symbols

Connect two objects with a third, dynamic symbol.

A new class of Symbol that can be assigned properties of Rotate, Extend, Scale etc. and a new class of Group called an Assembly.

e.g 1. A bullet point and a number in a circle can be connected by a symbol set with the properties of Radial Rotate and Extend, so the when either the bullet or the number are moved the connector symbol adjusts its length to remain anchored to the centre of the other two objects.

e.g. 2 A graphic is connected to create an Assembly of two or…

  2. Simple navigation in the structure of objects.

Simple navigation in the structure of objects.

Finishing the code of this great idea would be an exit to a new quality of work and management of objects during creation.

    1. Add a drop-down list to each column in this bar. For example, clicking on layers causes the layer tree to be highlighted in the document stack.
    2. Editing object / layer / group name from this level.
    3. Layer menu in this bar.
    4. Clicking on the first left arrow "Leaving group" simulation of the ESC key operation at this level of work with the object.

    Best Regards!

  3. Keeping my tool preference

Since Adobe's CC platform, I actually dread major updates because they seem to wipe my user preferences forgetting all my shortcuts and forcing me behavioural changes each and single updates.

The latest was the disappearance of Illustrator knife tool from my tool set. Little did I know that the knife tool is under advanced tool section, and that I needed to switch to my tool to advanced mode in order to use the knife tool. There may have been other nifty Adobe ways to access it, but I just simply don't have time to relearn all that stuff.

    Adobe, let's…

  4. Correct View > Snap to Grid shortcut from Cmd/Ctrl+" to proper Cmd/Ctrl+'

My request is a bit nerdy, but hey! I have been using Illustrator for 'ages' and one of the shortcuts is simply not correct. I always think it's cute, in a way, but still.
The shortcut to show or hide the grid is listed as Ctrl + "
This is impossible to achieve since you need the 'Shift' key to type the double quotation marks :)
So, I think it should be Ctrl + ' .
The shortcut to snap to the grid is fun in this light; it's Ctrl + Shift + "
So, I was wondering if anyone…

  5. New Tool Idea: "Drag Draw"

I've developed a novel way of drawing vector shapes using a delayed "drag point" method which at first seems counter-intuitive, but is actually closer to the way people draw with pens and brushes, because the drawing point is distanced from the moving point by a controlled amount (as if drawing with a chain), smoothing out the resulting line. My working demo was built in Javascript and can be observed in the attached video, but would be much more powerful within Illustrator and Photoshop. The tool I created allows me to export SVGs and gives me the ability to create…

  6. It would be helpful if you made allowable suggestions, such as, " paint in clipping paths not allowed, convert to paint group now."<

If you're not going to make your paint feature natural or useful, then you could provide allowable suggestions. Suggestions such as, " Paint in clipping paths not allowed, convert to paint group now," then you would click yes or no to convert. Instead, you have created an information loop Where your customers have a problem, you acknowledge the problem, and send your customers on their way to find their own solutions to solve that problem. A problem you have created in the first place. This would be a very helpful feature for you to add.

  8. Align By and Align To separate per object aligned — a new tool and mode (with preview)

Current alignment in Illustrator is barely sufficient. I should be able to align any object or path by any point to any object or path by any point.

Perhaps if you created an alignment tool that allows us to select not only the alignment objects, but the points for each object to align by then your alignment methods would be so much more robust.

Using the align tool would create a list of alignment participants on a slide-out panel. When selecting an element to align, you would pick from one of the 9 reference points or click anywhere on the…

  9. Simplifying Object Size Adjustments

Please make it easier (again) to change the size of objects. I'm not sure whether it's a bug in the new version or a new "feature," but it would be much easier if I could just click on an object and then click and pull on the edge to change its height or width.

I mean, yes, it's possible to use the direct selection tool and select the corners to change it, but as soon as this object (for example, a square) is slightly rotated, it's hard to keep the object straight while changing its "height" (it's not really the…

  10. Always Scale Proportionally when Shift Constraint is held using the Scale tool

Holding SHIFT to constrain scaling proportionally should always constrain as long as shift is held.

Using the Scale tool (s) if you hold shift and scale, you need to stay close to a 45 degree path when dragging in order to keep the proportions locked. Illustrator EASILY unlocks the proportionate scaling when the users deviates a small amount from 45 degrees. It's very easy to do as a user and the amounts can be small depending on the degree the user moves. So it's very very easy to accidentally scale something to almost proportional size such as w:100% h: 92%…

  12. Add an option to create a preset for layers

It would be very helpful if there's an option to create a layers preset where I can customize the names, colors, & etc of the layers & sublayers and save it as a preset for when I needed it.

  13. Images with the file name underneath.

Would be great if you could place images on to an artboard and have the option to display the files name underneath the image.
This would be great when designing images for Etsy showing the customer the choice of images they can choose and then tell you the file name of their chosen image.

  14. Menu View - New View - Rotate View

    Hi,

If the option of rotating Artboard is too difficult in Illustrator, maybe it is easier to create "rotated views"?

When working with packaging, the inability to rotate the view of the packaging walls while working in one document is really a prehistory of creative work. In a professional program, this must be resolved by the Adobe Customer Support Team.

Thank you everyone for the current effort.
    Best Regards

  16. Summer improvments

    • Eyedropper for text (ref. InDesign)
    • Instant resize at artboards bounds for clipping masks
    • Instant adaptive fit to bounds for images inside clipping masks (ref. InDesign)
    • Find and replace tool with live selection of contents with window open
    • A shortcut for Trim View (tried to customize but it doesn't work)
    • A better way to concatenate text frames (always requires more attempts)
    • Fix the copy/paste text issue with Whatsapp desktop (if try to paste text in a conversation you have the image of it)
    • Option to increase values with right button of mouse or digital pen

  17. Alt+drag to duplicate multiple spline knots and segments

Up until the Illustrator 23.1.1 update, splines with overlapping knots and multiple selected spline segments could be duplicated easily by:

    1) using the "A" select tool to select individual knots or segments of a path,
    2) region-dragging to select several knots,
    3) begin dragging then quickly hold down the ALT key before releasing
This would duplicate the knot and it's connected and the newly created connected segments. If only segments were selected, then the new segments were created while dragging, <important!> keeping their anchor knots where they originated at either end of the spline. It was a very efficient tool…

  18. Exchange entire Illustrator Team!

Two decades of leading customers around with this (still) child [Illustrator] is enough. Just lay down your work dear current Illustrator Team! You won't get anywhere, and let new people start over. It is 20 Years now since I've started with Illustrator (post Macromedia (RIP) Freehand) and it still sucks so hard. Unbelievable that Shantanu Narayen (Adobe CEO) does not seeing this. Wasted companies money and nerves of millions of users. Get a life.

  19. Rotation and reflection when selecting an object

When I have an object selected (left mouse is pressed down), I want to press the space bar to rotate it. This might rotate anticlockwise by 90° (so I would press the space bar three times to rotate the object clockwise by 90°). You could make the rotation angle 45° to be aligned with rotating and holding the shift key.

Also, while the object is again selected, if I press the X key, the object is reflected horizontally; pressing the Y key reflects it vertically.

These key strokes have been in use on another software program that I have used…

  20. Illustrator Reader / Viewer program

I would love to see an Illustrator reader like Acrobat has an editor program and a reader program.

The acrobat reader has the ability to edit text and fill in forms. It would be great to have a similar reader program for Illustrator that could edit text in a design so that a customer who doesn't have illustrator could still edit just the text if the designer wants to give them this option. It should have the ability to change text whilst keeping the text design (with shadows, colours, font type etc).
