When resizing a radial repeat object, holding Shift does nothing.
It is expected to constraint the rotation angle to 45°, but it does not.
Holding Alt is expected to create copies, I guess, as well.17 votes
We can control the number of instances, the exact radius, but the only way to define an angle is the round knob on canvas — which does not get dragged when you disable the bounding box, and which does not react when one holds Shift to constrain the angle.
Eyeballing is not the only way people create illustrations, you know.10 votes
When bounding box is off, splitter control is rendered, but does not work, and instances control is missing completely.
Having the bounding box turned off does not mean a user does not want to have repeat controls. So they should be A) completely hidden, or B) shown and be completely working.9 votes
If you try to align something to a symmetry object, setting it as a key, Ai will align both objects to a 0,0 coordinates instead of keeping the symmetry object in place.
Same happens when you try to distribute.
All other Repeat objects are unaffected by this bug.9 votes
Imagine you experiment and convert some art into a Repeat object.
Then you open Repeat Options and see some other variants, like Radial, Grid, and Mirror... OK, you think what do these do? You toggle to them, you set values, you click OK — and nothing you get. These do nothing. You can only change those your object currently have, but not switch the type.
- Why can’t I switch the type?
- Why don’t you disable these if they don’t work?
It's grayed out. The possibilities with blends inside radial repeat are HUGE5 votes
When the artwork contains asymmetrical variable width strokes, those are converted to symmetrical variable width strokes when a Repeat grid is applied with mirroring.4 votes
When editing a repeat object in isolation mode then after exiting the isolation mode, other (unrelated) objects that were formerly hidden, get unhidden.2 votes
Every time I drag the repeat to fill the artboard, Illustrator crashes and I have to reopen. Impossible to complete the piece. v27.2 Windows 10. All up to date and been happening a while.1 vote
I made a file in Illustrator with a few shapes that get repeated in a grid, but when I close and open the file again, some shapes become invisible. When I click on them enough so they get in isolation mode, they appear again, but everytime I open the file they are invisible at the start.
I tried to copy and paste these in a different document but that doesn't help.
My operating system: Windows 11 Home
Version of Adobe Illustrator: 27.1, but when I used 27.0.1 it was also there.1 vote
I used the symbol sprayer to spray image symbols. Then I expanded the objects (until I couldn't expand anymore). I selected all the object and tried to mirror them but the menu item is grayed out. All the menu items under "repeat" are grayed out, except for "options...".1 vote
The repeat grid is awesome EXCEPT for the fact that it puts all of the objects on the same layer when expanded. This doesn't work.
I'm trying to make stickers with a dieline. It laid and and spaced them wonderfully except now I have to go back and manually fix the dielines that are now on the same layer as the art. Lame. No thanks, going back to the old way by hand and replicating a correct object.1 vote
I make a regular rectangle and try to convert it to artboard and get the attached error. If I put that rectangle on another layer, doesn't contain a repeat grid object it works.1 vote
