Have had this issue for over a year with several updates to Mac OS (now Big Sur 11.2.1), OneDrive and Illustrator 2021. Pathetic.

Same issue running 2018 mac mini Catalina 10.15.7 and Illustrator 2021 v25 saving to an external Solid State drive via usb c. Correct file icon missing as well.
Never had the issue before the last Adobe update.Adobe needs to address the fact that when saving files, the default type of file is Adobe Illustrator 2020, however, when you Get iinfo on the file from the Mac, you will notice that the Application name which provides the icon is Adobe Illustrator 2021, so Perhaps this is where the issue resides?

We are getting the same error.

This is a valid message. Please explain more, why do you think it is a bug? What you do, how you save, when so you open, what do you expect... Not enough info for now.

I have the same issue as everybody here since I did an update (wished I didn't bothered... very annoying... It take also longer to save than usual and made plenty of space on my hard drive recently.
Could you please fix this bug?

I am on Illustrator CC 25.0.1 on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7. I create and save my files on OneDrive so my team can collaborate.

I didn't have this issue until I updated to Catalina in order to start using CC 2021. Now it happens pretty much every time I save. Thanks.

This needs to be handled. I recently moved all my files to OneDrive so I could work with my entire team... not just designers. Many organizations use OneDrive. We're not a creative agency so seeing these messages is not going to force us to "give in" and use Creative Cloud storage. It's not the same thing. So please fix this. Put in an exception for OneDrive so we can save our files without this message. It's really really poor form to allow this to be a pain point for your paying customers for so long.
Fix it.

Yes, this still seems to be an issue for folders that are backed up to a web service (Google File Stream here.) I don't see it for files that are saved elsewhere.

Still there, connected to OneDrive. Common Adobe, it's just a checkbox.
