Illustrator makes mouse curser go slow (not a lagging issue)
Lets start by saying that Illustrator isn't lagging, It's just the mouse curser that goes slow when on the canvas.
I use an extra monitor connected to my Macbook macOS Sierra pro 10.12.4 (16E195)
I have noticed this a few times when using illustrator. It does not happen to any other program, Photoshop, sketch, Chrome etc.
This might be worth investigating as it is slightly irritating
Illustrator version 22.0.0
Cheers
Hi everyone,
The issue got resolved with the new Apple adapter.
Thank you for your feedback.

Hello,
If you close your laptop screen, Illustrator works fine.

I have had this problem for over a year now. And I was also told it is a second monitor issue. However, even when I drag the application over to my primary monitor (on my macbook pro), the lag continues. I have to unplug the second monitor completely in order for it to resume normal function. I don't understand why this is the only Adobe application where this occurs. Because of the nature of my work (engineering files, as well as creative), I must use my second display as my primary. The lag impedes my workflow and makes working with the application incredibly frustrating.

having the same issue, just started today

It is indeed a AI problem only. Since a second monitor is not really an exception amongst graphic designers and other AI users, this problem should really be fixed/

I have the same issue. I contacted tech support. They got on my system remotely. Declared "No lag" when the external monitor was not plugged in. The problem is that it ONLY HAPPENS IN ILLUSTRATOR - it's NOT an "external monitor" problem - it's an Adobe Illustrator problem.
I was dismayed to find that the customer service rep was so quick to dismiss the issue, and blame it on the external monitor.

Issue also only occurs with second monitor -

I am also experiencing this issue, also only on my second monitor. Additionally, it is only occurring on the dark gray canvas area for artboards, not in the toolbar or sidebar areas. Not sure of the fix, as it seems to be a recent problem.

UPDATE
I've learned that the problem occurs ONLY when i use my second monitor. When I move Illustrator back to my original monitor (the MacBook) the mouse doesn't lag. So this means I can't use my bigger monitor when I use Illustrator. That sucks.

Hi, I have a problem with the mouse. It's lagging only in Ai (not in Ps, Xd, Sketch), only Illustrator. The mouse goes slow only when the selection tool is selected, and only when the cursor is in the canvas, so when the mouse is in the toolbars top, left and right, it's not lagging.
PLEASE fix this issue, as it's very important since I can't do basic stuff and i'm kinda unable e to use Ai. :(

I forgot to say, it lags only when the mouse is on the canvas, when it's on the toolbars (top, right, left), it doesn't lag.
Again, it's so annoying.

Yes omg I have the same issue it's impossible to work in Ai with this, the mouse is lagging so bad. I've noticed it's only when you have the selection tool selected, but I use that tool 90% of the time!
Please fix!!
