PDF gets saved and viewed as 'This is an Adobe Illustrator file that was saved without PDF content'
As of this morning my PDF files are saving very odd. I have been saving them the same way for YEARS. As of this morning they are saving this (see attached). HELP? This is how I save files for our website to show available homes for a community. Obviuosly this is not showing the flyer sheet it was saved as from. I save as PDF, have a preset created that I select & save. Usually it's my flyer - today it this. From every file I try it from. ?????
If you get a PDF exported that gets viewed as 'This is an Adobe Illustrator file that was saved without PDF content' stamped messages, please send these to sharewithai@adobe.com and tell exactly what method you used to create it (Save Aa, Export As, Asset Export), with what parameters specifically.

Okay... interestingly enough, I reinstalled the 2019 version so that I could get my work done. Everything in that version works well. In my email a fellow Illustrator user commented that he also reinstalled 2019, then tested making a PDF out of 2020 and it worked. Well... I too tried it, and it works. The only thing different that I didn't do was delete the 2019 version like Dennis did. There is an option to delete older versions when updating programs... I would not check that box. Let both versions live on you machine if you have the space to do so. Thanks Dennis!

reinstalled the 2019 version of illustrator to work - testing with v.2020 the PDF save was running again - i deinstalled the v.2019 again --> the error is no more showing.. maybe the first deinstallation of v2019 cancelled some files needed for export.

I too have this same issue with the 2020 version. Looking at the things you asked a previous poster for I can tell you that I've tried the following:
Save as PDF with no special or custom settings (anywhere)
Save a copy with no special or custom setting (anywhere)
Doing the above to a local drive and an external drive. The file I was trying to PDF is very basic. Black only. I'm running MAC OS 10.13.6
The result I get regardless of what I do with and without custom settings is attached.
I don't need to tell you that this is a serious problem. 80% of my day is spent in Illustrator.

I had the same issue. I restarted my computer and now my illustrator is saving the pdfs correctly. I am happy it is an easy fix.

No matter what I do (re-save as a AI, EPS, PDF, check/uncheck 'create PDF compatible file', etc...), if I save as a PDF, the PDF will show up saying "This is an Adobe Illustrator File that was saved without PDF content" etc... Is this a version 2019 bug??? What am I doing wrong?

Upon restarting my computer this fixed itself. However that truly doesn't make any sense for why it was saving that way from Illustrator. still some sort of bug involved.
