Text doesn’t get refreshed / updated automatically when changed with GPU preview
Text not refreshing when making changes to a text box. I turned off GPU performance and the problem persists.

@mnorriswd, do you still have this problem today?
How large is the text? Are you aware of hinting?
Can you share a test file for the team to review it? -
Jonathan, does it help if you toggle CPU/CPU?

Editing text in a text box still shows the old text/does not show the update. Only after moving the text object does it update. New text shows on hover/while editing, but it is overlaid onto the old text. Seems like the graphics aren't refreshing as they should.

Stephanie, does this still happen for new on new releases?
If yes — can you share a packaged file that have issues like this? -

Illustrator 2021On going issues since if i remember 2016 or so.
When GPU is enabled, lots of time when i edit a textframe it wont show the updates. The textframe keeps showing old text, zooming doesnt fix it. Only thing which fixes this is either move the textframe or deactive GPU and restart illustrustrator.
I first noticed this issue on my old Mac at the office, this cant be updated due to old OS its running. Now i still noticed it on my Windows system running 2021
Icant understand why such an issue is still present?!
Why not stop adding new features and fix old bugs. Go over all these issues and fix them before you implement new features and possibly break stuff.
This Windows is more then capable, this seems to be an issue with GPU implementation.
See attached vide. Notice how in outline mode the text is visible and regular mode it is not. Then moving it updates the preview. Zoom show the text for split second but keeps showing old text after that. This video here is on CPU mode, so both modes actually show it.
I think this is due to large files linked in. Ive seen before that illustrator has very poor update refresh when document is heavy. Even though files are linked. Perhaps a mode like InDesign needs to be introduced where linked files show low res. Like you can do with EPS, which is that dinosaur file format

See the screenshot. I converted this type to outlines, then Expanded Appearance, then Expanded stroke and fill. Results are superimposed over the original red/orange type. You can that the converted outline does not match the type; in general the top is pushed rightward and the bottom leftward. I tried skewing the outline to correct it but while that may nudge some curves and vertices back to where they belong, it pushes others out. The only solution I know is to tweak and/or redraw the path, which is an extremely time-consuming task. It appears that this problem arises with some but not all fonts.

When outlining text in artwork to send to the printer, the text moves from its original position by a fraction.
This is catastrophic for finished art purposes.
Dealing with misaligned print can be hard enough without the file being off from the beginning.MacOS Sierra

Text content differs from edges and "path preview" (Cmd Y) to print preview (or GPU).
In my example, the word "Optipro" appears at the GPU Preview and disappears when I use the Cmd Y preview. -

1. Illustrator CC2018
2. Editing existing type.
3. The ability to actually see what I'm typing.
4. Almost always there is no text refresh when editing text. You have to drag the text or otherwise alter it so that Illustrator is forced to refresh so you can see changes you make.I'm using a new iMac Pro High Sierra. Please fix the bug!
