Illustrator wont show correct color of png imported
Since I have updated to the newest version I can't seem to upload pngs into Illustrator. They show as if they are negative. I run on a MacBook Pro Mac OS Mojave Version 10.14.1. Illustrator 23.0.1
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 25.3.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

no, its not solved. I have illustrator 26.3.1 and the problem persist. Everytime I open my file, I have to replace my pngs. It's ironic because adobe have so many problems and we pay for this s***!

Here is more documentation on the issue.
I can confirm the issue is still there, and that its isolated to MacOS.
The issue is with the Display P3 color profile and 16bit color depth.
for me it was because image was a 16bit. works fine as 8 bit on crummy 10.15.3

Same issue here imports just fine for illustrator on windows but if you do it on the mac version it looks like the above images. Old static tv look.
This is a 16-bit png. Opens fine in photoshop, opens fine on windows illustrator, opens as shown in attached with mac illustrator.
Also 6 months + for an issue like this is sloppy Adobe.
I thought this was a 16bit issue. Then I thought it was the Display P3 color profile. Whatever it is, it is fixed with a re-export of the the screen shot in PS. You can even skip converting the color profile AND leave it 16b it and the result displays correctly in AI. Not sure what about the iOS screenshots is the issue in AI but the work around is simple enough.
Same issue Iphone 8 plus. Any better idea then taking another screenshot of the screenshot once on computer?
I have the same problem - really annoying!
i have the same problem with Iphone 8+
MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 16 GB RAM, 750 GB HD
macOS (High Sierra) v. 10.13.6
Creative Cloud Subscription
Adobe Illustrator CC v. 22.1
Adobe Photoshop CC 19.1.5
Problem: Every time I import a .png file from Photoshop into Illustrator, I always have this bizarre problem. I usually go to File>Place and import the file as usual.
The problem seems to be solved by converting it into a .tiff via photoshop. I'm just curious on what's causing it.

Click on it once in finder, press space bar.
CMD + Shift + 4 then draw around it, open that in Illustrator.
They are both .png and should be the same size.
I have the same problem. iphone X screeshots won't open or open as jagged lines in Illustrator but open in Photoshop fine.
