Random crashing - 24.0.3
I have a brand new 16" MacBook Pro.
OS: Catalina 10.15.2. 32Gb Ram. 2.4 Gz Processor.
Illustrator 2020 v24.0.3
The app is constantly, randomly crashing. When waking up machine (10 min auto sleep) there is a message waiting that Illustrator has unexpectedly quit. ,And, now it seems hung up on launch.
Here's what I've done so far:
- Ran app diagnostics as recommended on restart. No info was provided.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled.
- Disabled lots of 3rd party extensions
- Restarted machine
- I have 90 crash reports.
This issue is fixed in Illustrator 25.0 and above.

same crashing over and over and over. There is zero stability with this product. And no one at Adobe seems to want to do anything about it. Crashlog attached.

In my experience the metal build is unusable due to a host of other bugs, but so far I've been able to leave a file open, sleep for an extended period, and briefly interact with the file (after ignoring a plethora of assertion errors) without illustrator crashing a few times. Considering I'm not really using the app to do any actual work (because I can't), I'm not sure this is the best indicator. I'll see how it goes over a few more days. It still crashes on quit every time, but maybe that's a whole other item.
To others wanting to test the metal build: I had to uninstall and re-install the build multiple times to get it to run, it wouldn't load tool panels without copying my plugins over manually, and pretty much constant assertion error dialogs pop up with any interaction (and clicking debug crashes). Really bodes well for the "Big Sur" launch in a few months (OpenGL dropped).

Thanks Rama — I was unable to get the metal pre-release build running (received error that expected resources weren't found when attempting to install). Are there additional tasks I need to complete prior to installation of the build?

Illustrator (and InDesign) Crashing every time my 16” MacBook Pro 2019 goes to sleep.

Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MBI have disabled the automatic switching of video cards in the energy saving setting, so only the AMD Radeon video card is operating instead of switching between Intel and AMD. But the issue remains.
P.s. I am running the latest software of MacOS and Adobe as of today the 31 of July 2020.

I have had the exact same issue since I bought the 16" MacBook pro in December 2019. I've been sending numerous crash reports and even talked to Adobe support. They remotely turned off automatic graphics switching and the automatic sleep setting, but of course that didn't help! Please solve this issue Adobe!

I just got a GPU error message saying that it had turned that preference off - once I restarted the program after a crash. Don't know if it's related.

Illustrator 24.2.1 keeps crashing. I cannot tie it to any particular activity - other than switching between Photoshop and Illustrator screens. I have reloaded the program. I have spent 45 minutes with an Adobe tech working on my computer. And still, it crashes multiple times a day.
Running it on:
MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)
macOS Catalina 10.15.5 (19F101)
2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9

I am having the same issues - causing me to lose a lot of work. Adobe Illustrator is consistently crashing whenever my computer goes to sleep - and sometimes at other times. This only started to happen once I received a new MacBook Pro - so I think it has something to do with that.

Wanted to share that experiences with the frequent crashes after waking up from sleep or returning to Illustrator have all but stopped for nearly two weeks now. Not sure what the event was that would have caused this change, but wanted to report this anyway. No updates to either CC or OS X directly correlated for me.

Experiencing the same issue here, and have NEVER had an issue before. Illustrator crashes every time I try ti use a gradient. Sometimes crashes when I don't even have a project open.
I've submitted at least 5 crash reports this week. Have lost HOURS of project work time.

In my case turning off "Displays have separate spaces" solved the problem.

Giovanni — I'm also running the Astute suite, but I'm still experiencing crashes (even after the 24.2 Illy update and after uninstalling and reinstalling Astute).

Question for the group, sorry if it's already been asked:
How many people, using this config, are also running plugins?
I am running the Astute suite. Since the update to Ai 24.2, and the updated plugins, I have not experienced a random crash—that is probably 4 or five consecutive days! Previously I was experiencing up to several crashes per day, either from a sleep state, or from an extended period of working in another application, and switching back to Illustrator. This all may be temporary, but noted a significant change so I'm wondering if a third party may be at play here.

2 months? It's been 6 for me! A myriad of fixes, nothing resolves the issue. This is an obvious bug given the number of people experiencing it. And the hardware seems to be pretty specific... PLEASE FIX!
