An unknown error occurred when saving AI file
Since updating to 24.2 on our Macs people are intermittently getting "An unknown error occurred" when trying to save an AI file. We have found in those cases outlining all the fonts will let us save. We are using the latest version of Universal Type Client for our font management.

Same here, very slow and half the time same error with saving a file and the file on the server disappears and has to be saved as a new file. Not good in a deadline environment.

Thank you for sharing! I works when you save as pdf first. But yes very stupid bug. Crazy that Adobe has not fixed it yet

I have the exact same issue with the error message "An unknown error has occurred". I'm on Mojave and using Illustrator 2020. When I save as a pdf first (as suggested) it then allows me to save as an ai file. Very annoying. My other team members on the same system do not have this problem however. Please can you fix this, thanks.

When I first open the program and try to save a file in ai 2020, I get an error message. I can then save it as a pdf and after that, it will allow me to save as a native ai file.
Also, when trying to save a file as an outlined pdf, it will say the ai file is in process of being saved.
Please fix these bugs in the next update. Thank you.

Same problem. Must save first as pdf, close file, reopen pdf version, and voila... can save normal ai file. Horrible behavior. Same on local machine and server and nas so no matter what file system under the hood.

I'm using version illustrator version 23.1, you can find my operating system in attachments. I'm tryin to save my flat drawing and logo designs with patterns made with brushes and pencil tool. This leads to "unknown error has occured" message coming to me very often. Can you help me with this? I really want to continue working.
Many others from my class is having this same problem.
