ESC key not exiting text editing and isolation modes in Illustrator 2025 on macOS and PC
On macOS (latest version), ESC key does not exit text editing mode in Illustrator 2025 as it used to in previous versions.
Resetting preferences and keyboard shortcuts does not fix it. I created a new action to perform the exit task temporarily.
Expected behavior: ESC should exit text mode.

Its a backward approach if Adobe people themself ask us to downgrade to a previous version? Fix the bug!

Same issue here.
Also downgraded to 29.6 to get it working again, will monitor this thread to see when it's safe to upgrade again

I've reverted back to the previous version for now until this is fixed. Major blow to day-to-day productivity

Same issue. Tried current forum workarounds of resetting keyboard increment (restart AI). No luck. Then tried resetting all preferences (restart AI). No change. Restarted machine. Updated Illustrator. - nothing fixes this.
ESC should exit test edit. ONE KEY.

Until recently I used the ESC key shortcut to deselect any kinds of objects. I used it every single day. Why did you change the deselect shortchut to ctrl+shift+A, why make the task unnecesarily longer and tedious?

For anyone experiencing this issue: downgrading to the previous version of Illustrator (v 29.6) from Creative Cloud solves the problem.

Happening for me as well on Macbook Pro M1 max using the latest build of illustrator. The escape key doesn't appear to work at all as I can also not exit isolation mode using the escape key like usual. Really slows down the workflow!

Estou com o mesmo problema aqui. Atrapalha bastante a praticidade e na hora de escrever textos está sendo péssimo pois simplesmente não consigo fechar a caixa de texto com a tecla.

Illustrator 29.7.1 / MBP M4 Max / Sequoia 15.6 - Escape only exits out of Artboard tool. It doesn't exit from Text or Isolation mode.
