Same problem here with Illustrator 26.1 on a MacBook Air M1 running Monterey 12.3.
Saving a file with cmd+s is possible, but save as won't work.

macbook pro14 m1 32gb +external monitor - illustrator 26.1. Updated last night to OS12.3 and can't save anywhere local (can use TAB to skip through save-popup menu - anywhere but in the file list, but that doesn't enable anything. Save button always greyed. can't press "Cancel" or "New folder" - just use Escape.
Already tried restarting the computer, re-installing illustrator, launching+alt, disconnecting external monitor, reconnecting external monitor, switching between monitors to replace main, using previous illustrator version, re-enabling disk permissions (after upgrading the system illustrator wasa missing from the disk permission list!) ... nothing helpshttps://shared-assets.adobe.com/link/18029f94-6b3c-46e2-7a8c-11322987028a

MacBook Pro M1Exactly the same problem for me also. Greyed out 'Save' button and the only way to get out from that dialogue box is to save the file in the Cloud or Force Quit out the application.
Tried multiple install and reinstalls of the current and previous versions of the software also.
This problem has occurred since installing the latest macOS update. 12.3

I have the same problem:
Illustrator 26.1 & Monterey 12.3 (MBP 15", 2018 with Intel Processor i7)I can´t save on my computer. At the dialog box "save as", the cursor does not work and nor does the keyboard except for the Esc key, which allows me to dismiss the save window.

I have the same problem. macOS 12.3, MBP 16" (2020) Intel, Illustrator 26.1
The mouse is completely "dead". I can’t select anything. Just the Format popup menu works. With tab key and keyboard I can select a folder, but the Save button keep grayed out. The Cancel button doesn’t work. The only way to get out is via esc key.

Using the "Save As" function on new or existing Illustrator documents does not work. The "Save As" button is greyed out and after opening the "Save As" dialog, the app is entirely frozen and must be force quit.
This has happened on every use of the app since I updated my OS to v12.3 earlier this week. I've restarted my computer, reset my cache, reinstalled the app – but the issue persists.
Both the "Save" and "Save to Cloud" options seem to be functioning fine.

I have this same issue! Please issue an update to Illustrator to fix this!
I am using Illustrator 26.1 (updated March 16, 2022) on Monterey 12.3 on MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019) with 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 Memory: 32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4. When I tried to Save As for a new file or an existing file, the pop-up menu freezes. I cannot click on Desktop or any local drive to save. Saving to the cloud brings up another menu but I need to be able to save locally. The Save button is grayed out and the Cancel button doesn't cancel the save. I can only force quit. This only happened after I upgraded to 12.3 on March 15, 2022. -

I experience this problem on an intel iMac (27" late 2015). The Save and Save As dialog boxes appear but are not functional. I can navigate some fields with the keyboard but mouse interaction is only possible on the "Format" field. I can leave the dialog with the escape key. I am on macOS 12.3 21E230 and Illustrator 26.1.
Is it advisable from a privacy point of view to publicly upload my spx file here? -

M1 MacBook ProI currently can't save to my hard drive on my Mac. When I try to save a new file, the dialogue box appears and the option to save to my HD is inactive. The only way to get out of this to Force Quit the application. The only option that works is to save to Creative Cloud. Currently Illustrator is unusable.
This issues seems to have started since updating the Mac OS.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of Illustrator as well as installing older versions. But this hasn't resolved the problem.
