Copy (or Cut) \ Paste: the object appears on the same layer when another layer is selected.

I have an object\s on layer 1. I copy\cut it. Select layer 2, press Paste - the object Appears on layer 1 and layer 2 is still selected.

It should appear on layer 2 as it was before.

I can not copy\paste objects on another layer, I can only move them in Layer Window.3 votesAs per the comment, this often happens if you enable Paste Remembers Layers in the Layers panel’s flyout menu. With it turned on, Ai respect the original layers of pasted objects.

Pressing Ctrl + Win sends the active object backward
If you have at least 2 objects on the artboard and the top one is selected, pressing Control + the Windows key on Windows 10 sends the active object backward one step. It's a keyboard shortcut that doesn't appear to be editable in Keyboard Shortcuts in case it interferes with that shortcut being used for something else.

Layers panel doesn’t allow to hide objects
The layers panel does not work. You cannot turn layer visibility on or off. Even enable / disable the panel itself. It is necessary to correct this error!

Shift-clicking in Layers doesn't select range if filter is used
I have dozens if not hundreds of elements I need to select in a document. I can get them into a contiguous list in the Layers panel with a filter, but this breaks range-selection.

No layer thumbnail for single element layers
Issue: There's no layer thumbnail when dragging single elements to a new layer.
This bug has been already mentioned and acknowledged, but has not been fixed, nor has had received any sort of update or follow up on its status. I believe it only affects v29.8.2 onwards.

Layer thumbnails are not displaying properly (CPU Preview)
Issue: Layer thumbnails are cropped based on previous zoom state.
When you open a document that's been previously saved in a zoomed-in state, all visible layers' thumbnails will only show the elements that are visible in the zoom view. That is, elements that were out of view when the document was saved, are no longer visible in their layer thumbnail after reopening the document.
How to reproduce
Make sure "GPU Performance" is turned OFF in the preferences.
Create or open a document that has many elements in it.
Zoom into a particular area of the document, purposely cropping other parts…

Illustrator Layers Panel Object Thumbnails No Longer Update After Edits
In Illustrator, the object thumbnails in the Layers panel are no longer refreshing after changes are made to the artwork to match the new appearance. Because the preview remains outdated, it becomes harder to track changes and quickly identify the correct objects in complex files. This breaks a useful visual cue and makes the workflow less reliable and less efficient.

Unable to move Layer into Sub-layers
Illustrator makes no sense. I have a Layer full of vectors, but when I try to insert that layer into another layer to become a sub-layer, Illustrator refuses to acknowledge my request. In what world would prohibit me from such a simple task?

Exporting layers to After Effects // Exportacion por capas a After Effects
Illustrator layers are not being interpreted correctly in After Effects. The position of elements becomes disordered when accessing layers in After Effects as a composition. This bug has been present since the previous version. Please fix it; it's part of my daily work.

Toggle Visibility Not Working in Layers Panel
Windows 11 desktop, 12 GB graphics card, 32 GB RAM, Intel processor with 3.60 GHz, 64 Bit x64-based processor

I am creating a design and trying to toggle the background layers to compare. When I click on the eye icon in the Layers panel, the layers sometimes go on/off and most often do not. A group with any Warp effect applied to it fails to render hidden objects within when these are shown back
When an image with 3 or more layers is grouped together then an arch effect is added to that group, the layer visibility toggle behaves strangely in a way where the layers disappear but do not reappear. once the layer visibility is back to on but the image cannot be seen Illustrator will allow you to click and drag the area to grab the "hidden" layer but it is now only an outline with no color fill until you move it. or refill the color. Unfoldable layers
Illustrator does not display and allow to click unfold arrows next to these layers, despite the objects in them exist in the document.

Send to Current Layer not working - moves entire layer instead of only selected objects
I'm trying to move some objects from one layer to another.
I'm selecting a series of objects, then clicking on the empty layer that I want to move the objects to. I'm choosing Object > Arrange > Send to Current Layer. When I do this, instead of only the selected objects moving (expected behavior), all the objects on the layer are sent to the other layer.
(Normally I would simply cut the objects, then use Paste In Front on another layer to paste them in the same position. But these functions are also not working for me - the objects…

Pasting in Front objects from different groups puts copies in the topmost group
This is in latest version as of today's date. An annoying bug which was not present in older versions of illustrators and is reproducible:
Create two vector objects and group them
Duplicate this group (this is just to provide two groups, the problem exists across all groups of objects)
Use Direct Select (A) to select one object from within each of these groups
Copy (Ctrl+C)
Paste in Front or Paste Behind will paste one object in front or behind and move the other selected object to that depth
Regular paste pastes two objects as expected.2 votes -
Select Next Object Below
Running Windows 10 (64-bit) and the latest version of Adobe Illustrator. The bug I am experiencing is the shortcut to Select Next Object Below (Alt+Ctrl+[) is not working properly. Neither is the Select Next Object Above, nothing new is selected when I press the buttons, it remains on my already selected layer which is neither the top most or bottom most.

Collapsing layers with Opt/Alt won’t collapse sublayers
When Opt/Alt + click on layer, only the TOPMOST sublayer is collapsed. The rest of the sublayers remain expanded.

Layer Assigned Color Changing Post Update
Hello, After the update (August 12, 2025?) my Adobe Illustrator template layers change to black after saving a new project. I have built a template with many layers and assigned a color to each layer. After the update, when I open the template and save it as a new project, or simply update the template and save it, all layers that had an assigned color change to black. Is this a bug or an issue on my end?

Objects hidden in Layers panel stay visible in Preview mode, but not in Outline mode
Visibility toggle in Illustrator via Layers panel is inconsistent. However, toggling layer visibility in Outline mode remains accurate. See video. Adobe Illustrator v29.6.1, Win11

Ausgeblendete Objekte werden am Bildschirm angezeigt und trotz Ausblendung exportiert
Ich verwende ein 64 Bit Betriebssystem und bin mit der Adobe CC stets auf dem aktuellsten Stand. Es stehen keine nicht installierten Updates an.

Meine Datei besteht aus einigen Ebenen in denen Objekte in Gruppen oder einzeln liegen. Für den Export muss ich Elemente ausblenden. Zur Sicherheit habe ich alle anderen Objekte auf der Ebene stets gesperrt. Beim ein- und ausblenden entsteht der Fehler: Trotz Sperrung und Ausblendung wird das Objekt weiterhin angezeigt. Copying selection in Layers panel no longer works
Illustrator 29.5.1 on Mac Mini M4 running Sequoia 15.4.1: Dragging the colored square in the Layers panel from one layer to another with the Option key pressed no longer copies the selection to the new layer. It just moves it to the new layer.
