I like to imagine it has been someone's entire job to sit in a room reviewing this for five years.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.3.0 which is available worldwide now.

Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

    For Mandi (and future readers),
This 'fix', such as it is, only applies to live shape ellipses. Once expanded, circles will show their 'true' size.

This issue is listed as fixed in the notes for 24.3.

What has actually happened to fix this? Has the nature of an ellipse in Illustrator changed?

No: just the bounding box. Create a circle of, say 1000 px. Rotate it 22.5°. With it selected, zoom in on the middle of one of the sides. The bounding box slightly undercuts the circle as drawn! So the bounding box says 1000 px at any rotation, but the actual ellipse is the same as previous versions of Illustrator. What exactly does this fix? Doesn't this just confuse the issue more?

This bug seems to exist in 26.2.
    Tested on Windows 10:

    1. Turn on 'Type Object Selection by Path Only' in preferences
    2. Create a Point Type object
    3. With the direct selection tool, try to drag the type object by its anchor point.

Kost: there should be an icon for 'linked' now -- effectively the reverse of the situation in previous versions.

The intended way to ensure your pixel-sized document stays the same size after export is to use the default screen resolution — 72 PPI.

If you set anything else, Illustrator will scale the image  accordingly (as if the 'Resample' option in Photoshop is ticked when you resize an image).

There is no way to write a custom resolution AND maintain the desired size at the same time.

The reasoning behind this behaviour is that the resolution value is supposed irrelevant when an image’s intent is Screen or Web. An image can have no resolution value stored in it at all, it’s just an optional coefficient, and then different viewers and editors suppose a value on their own — usually 72 PPI (Mac-style) or 96 PPI (Windows-style).

Unlike other editors, Illustrator has a continuous range for all measurements units. One pixel is considered to be equal one point, and a point…

For any future readers: this is the result you would get if you export a 100 px file at 300 PPI.

If you want a specific pixel dimension, export at 72 PPI.

If you want a specific physical dimension or other PPI setting, create a document using physical units, not pixels.

    Hi Everyone,

The fix has been rolled out and is available in our latest release build – 29.3.0 which is available worldwide now.

Illustrator will now allows to change gradients of the Live Paint selections, using Gradient tool.

The annotator won’t show up when you do this, but you will see the changes immediately if you have GPU Preview and Real-Time Drawing and Editing options enabled in Preferences.

    What’s new in 29.3: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback.

Can someone from the Illustrator team describe what exactly they thought the issue was, and what exactly they fixed?

The issue as I understand it is that it is not possible to use the gradient annotator in a live paint group. This is the case in 25.4.1

    More detail in this topic:
    https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/blob-brush-grouping-layer-together-even-when-they-are-not-touching-in-illustrator-v25-4-1/m-p/12312342

This appears to occur when the bounding box of the blob brush shape overlaps the previously-selected (filled) object of the same fill colour.
