Done in version 26 (2022). You can now use Tab and Shift+Tab to cycle focus while renaming layers and artboards (but not assets yet — vote to make it happen, https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/31567951). Yay!
Please comment here if you have any issues with how it works).Dina Dembicki supported this idea · -

Live preview of color is now live in Illustrator 27.1.1, for Color Picker dialog, Color panel, Properties and Control panel, and Appearance panel.
It works in GPU mode only.

I am happy to share that we have shipped the Bullets and Numbering in 26.4 update for Illustrator. It’s a phased rollout so you may not see 26.4 update yet but it would rollout globally in a day or two.
You can read about this and other new features here ( https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/whats-new/2022-5.html ).

An error occurred while saving the comment Dina Dembicki commentedIf only Apple would allow them to be disabled in the OS. Because that's where they're coming from. I believe Adobe Fonts only installs what you've activated, or what's in the document when you open it. But it would be great if there was a way to hide them in the Adobe CC apps.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dina Dembicki commentedAs I said in the other feature request.... Can I vote for this, like, a hundred times? If Apple won't allow them to be managed, at least let us not have to scroll past all of them to get to the end of the list.

Starting from the February 2024 release, version 28.3, this option is no longer enabled by default for new documents. If you had hyphenation enabled in an existing document, Ai will respect this.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dina Dembicki commented@Sonja and Rick Wallace, I opened the file named print.ai in the library, unchecked the hyphenate box in the paragraph palette, but a new document still came up as hyphenated.
@Kris, is there a check box in the new document dialog box? I did not find one, even under advanced settings. That would be handy.
For the record, I agree with earlier posters that there are times when hyphenation on is critical. However, if I'm working with a lot of type in a long document, I'm using InDe, where I'm working with styles and can set up the style for hyphenation or not. For AI docs, typically I don't want hyphenation.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dina Dembicki commentedAgreed. If you share PDFs for internal review, and have a lot of artboards with different spot colors on them, it's a pain to have to remove the ones you aren't using, then resave the file. And then the client comes back and says they don't like the specific colors you chose, and you have to go back and find all the variations all over again.
(Plus the added steps for having to re-do all the color searches using Pantone Connect, which comes with its own set of headaches.)

Have you tried template layers? What's nice about a template layer is that you can show/hide it, but they don't print. Therefore, it also doesn't show up if you place the AI file as artwork into another app such as InDe. No shortcut to visibility, however. Love that I don't have to remember to turn it off when saving to place.
How would it work? Would you select something on a layer and use the shortcut to show/hide the entire layer?
