[on macOS] when saving files only the filename is selecetd, not the extension. It used to be fine with Adobe apps until some versions back suddenly the whole file name including extension is selected in the Save as dialog.
Adding some text used to be easy. With a tap on the right arrow key the cursor moved between de file name and the extension. When I do this now the cursor is placed after the extension so I have to use the mouse or left arrow key to move the cursor 3-4 positions back. This may be OK on Windows but it is definately not Mac behaviour.
Please fix it.
Enclosed is a sample how a Save as dialog should behave in macOS.

This issue was reintroduced in MacOS update Ventura. The team ran into another issue while implementing the workaround suggested by Apple. While the team revisits this issue, users can use workaround this issues by paste through context menu. Thank you all for the patience.

When I copy text in Illustrator document I can't paste it in Save As dialog as file name.
Also, in Save As dialog the file name is not selected. This is awkward when you want to save a file with a different file name.
When the file name is selected, the extension is also selected. I used to be able to add tect to a file name easily by tapping the left arrow key, the cursor would moeve between the file name and extension. Now it moves to the and of the file name including the extension. So I have to move 3-4 positions back and then add text or a number. Very annoying!!!

The solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.
PDF is now available as type in File > Export > Export As dialog.
However, File > Adobe PDF Presets menu, similar to one InDesign has, to allow even quicker export, is absent still.
If you want to have it, please upvote this new request here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48670088

The most recent version finally has the Object > Distribute menu added.
Now both Align and Distribute commands can be accessed via menu and have assigned keyboards shortcuts to them.
The order of the commands though seemingly matches the one the panel has: horizontal first for Align and vertical first for Distribute. If you find this odd and want to change it — vote here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/45855823-sync-the-order-of-align-and-distribute-menu-comman
Also, Align To and Distribute Spacing commands are still missing in top menus, so please keep voting here to make them added too.

Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!
Dear Illustrator Community,
I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.
While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.
Our Approach
We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.
It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…

Like in InDesign it is very easy to automatically name color swatches with their values: Name with Color Value. There's a checkbox in the Swatch Options panel when you double click a swatch. Pleas add this to Illustrator.
