Please put the "Object Selection By Path Only" in the MENU BAR.

It is very useful when drawing but HORRIBLE when selecting images with WHITE background. Going to prefs and changing it is utterly waste of time and work flow flow. I actually think it could ver well be in the RIGHT click drop down menu as well.
    Thank you

    Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!

    Dear Illustrator Community,

I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.

While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.

    Our Approach

We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.

It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…

Command+Option+J will AVERAGE 2 or more points BUT it will NOT join/weld them so you end up with 2 or more points sitting on TOP of each other. (CTL+ALT+J) Also, it needs a confirmation and will do this on Horizontal axis, or Vertical axis or both. However, if you are trying to join 2 points opposite of each other on a shape, e.g. creating a centerline on a banana, you have to do this manually for each of two opposite points, then take the start and end of the curve and cut them and delete ONE of the centerline curves.

It baffles me what is the exact use of having 2 points or more on top of each other short of possible screwing up a rip engine processing a file during print or worse CAD CNC. However, it does not surprise me as our Adobe sw techs in India seem NOT to have much clue about real world production of graphics and just very creative adding razzle dazzle rubbish to an already too top heavy 30+ year software.

There is a Flip Horizontal/Vertical function in the pull out Top Right of Transform palette. Please, either move it to the Right Click Menu or make available in both places.

This option is still NOT in illustrator as of May 2020, Neeraj's COMPLETED tag is utter nonsense. You want to select an object and press a key combination so that object becomes the center of the screen AND FILLS the screen. He most likely never used illustrator for creation as an artist and either didn't read your request or didn't understand it. He is referring to the stupidest zoom created ever which is ZOOM TO CENTER. I call it stupid because it is actually only zooming 50% of the current zoom level AND sliding the center of selection to the center of the screen. There is a Fit all in window which only works for multiple artboards. There used to be such feature; I believe illustrator 4 came out with it but was taken out.
Anyway, there is a way to make a script to do this and here is the link for it. http://www.wundes.com/JS4AI/
You can use it on either Mac or PC.

It has been posted but it seems it has been ignored. I suspect that it is due to the fact that majority of the ILLUSTRATOR TEAM are NOT real users and/or designers. If that offends you, face the truth of it or provide some reasoning.
Bottom line is that making new layers assigns different colors for the selected objects AND most of these colors are just useless! I have created a visual reference for the first 8 colors for comparison.
So, please with sugar and honey on top and a sweet chai on the side… I am NOT suggesting that you kill the colors; just add a choice that allows us, designers who make a living from use of software to create new layers with a default color of BLACK and if we need to, we can change it ourselves.
To make it even better, allow assigning a default color for new layers so that those eagle vision users who love working on a layer with YELLOW color outlines can always use that choice.
I am not making this suggestion because I started using ILL yesterday; I have used it since version 88, long before many of the team were walking and beta tested it.

Normally the first layer that is created is Black lines by default but as we make more layers, each new one gets a new color. The problem is that most of these NEW colors are not very visible on the most used background being white. Since the first days I have requested that there be a choice to lock the color of the new layers created to be Black or a chosen color unless the user wants to change it. At present, every file that I work on has about 20+ layer s and I have to change color at least 15 times to see my outlines, etc.
I have used AI since the 88 version.

Have you tried to increase the selection tolerance? And, have you calibrated your Wacom area and decreasing the pen pressure?

We have done further updates to Dimension tool with recently released version - 28.3

You can create and use your custom scale for dimension, hide or show units on dimensions and dimensions are now sticky to the object - they transform as well when you transform the object.
