1. Searching brushes and other tools by their name in their tab would be great

   I am saving all my brushes and patterns into my Print.ai file (am I supposed to do that?) and now it grew up to 100 MB.
   With that many brushes, many of them also similar, a search brush by name feature perhaps would be helpful.

2. Overwriting Existing Workspaces and Toolbars

   If I wanted to update my custom Workspace, I can create a new Workspace and give it the same name as before. When I do that, I am warned that the name already exists, and that clicking 'OK' will overwrite the old one. This is great. But if I try the same process for updating a custom Toolbar, it makes me choose another name. Then I have to remember where these files are stored in the Finder, go to that location, delete the old Toolbar, and rename the new one. Please make the process for updating an existing Toolbar as simple as updating an existing Workspace.

   If I wanted to update my custom Workspace, I can create a new Workspace and give it the same name as before. 5. The Named Views feature should be expanded for more names, listed alphabetically, and be more easily editable..

   The Named Views feature is under developed. It is useful for complex drawings with several Artboards and many layers. Its functionality can include several categories of the Illustrator program. Attached is a file with several points of improvement.

6. SVG Import Notification and/or debug log

   Short back story: My company is an online supplier of custom printed products. Customers design their order on our website which we translate into an SVG file. Our production team imports that SVG file into AI for final processing of the customers order.

   When importing SVG files to AI sometimes entire parts of the design are not imported without any notification or log of the event.

   For example, when our production team imports SVGs where the text contains an emoji we sometimes (maybe always?) find that the entire text block is no longer included in the design. This is not obvious and it requires going back and comparing the import to the original JPG rendering to notice a difference.

   Much more transparency from Adobe on how SVG importing works in general would be greatly appreciated. Right now it's incredibly painful to debug import issues.

7. Asset/Object export needs more options

   I wanted to export multiple assets/objects with their artboard position and quickly realized they will get cropped and there isn't an option to change that.
   The possible naming is also quite limited. Every professional program should have wildcards for naming files.
   It boils down to missing batch features. I found a developer who gave it a try once (TomByrne IllustratorSmartExport). That's everything the batch export could and should be and it should be an official inspiration for how the export in Illustrator should look/feel like. Unfortunately it's not longer under development and the core functionality is broken. Still it's a good example where Illustrator should turn it's head to.

8. Allow Illustrator documents to re-link to its shared-for-review Creative Cloud document if the link becomes broken

   Sometimes a document that's been shared for review through the Creative Cloud will lose its connection to the local file. Sometimes because you've tried to create a new iteration, renamed the file, or sometimes it just happens for unknown reasons. When this occurs, it would be helpful to be able to reconnect them so that the review process continues with the same link to the end of the project. This would keep the entire history of markups and not cause confusion by sending out a new link in which they cannot access the resolved markups when reviewing the updates. Yes, we can issue a new link, and that works, but it's an unwanted interruption in the flow.

9. Export X, Y, W, H and angle to a text file or Excel format?

   Please add a feature to allow AI to export X,Y,W,H and angle to a text or Excel file.
   I have a need to get the coordinates and sizes of buttons (in pixels) for my Touch screen. After you design the image for LCD. You will need to know XYWH and angle for touch purpose. It will be good to have AI to send those information out to a file (not image).

10. Illustrator on Web now has Quick Pen tool. Desktop Ai needs one too

    Illustrator on Web got this Quick Pen tool (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-on-the-web-beta-discussions/introducing-the-new-quick-pen-tool-beta-in-illustrator-on-the-web-beta/td-p/14146260) in October of 2023, very similar to the recently abandoned Spiro Tool plugin, to Tangent Arc tool by Graffix, and to some of Astute Graphics’ plugins.

    This is not a replacement to any one of them, and to the Illustrator’s native Curvature, but it’s an interesting tool to have at desktop as well.

11. Please add Illustrator option to maintain text color

    Could you please add an option for us to keep the color we chose for the text in an illustrator file we're currently working on?

    Meaning: Say I am writing text in a file, but I want separate text boxes and I want to keep the same color, rather than Illustrator defaulting back to black or whatever color was set as default in the preferences.

    I'd like to be able to check a box to keep the color I am using for the text rather than having to go back to the color and subsequently the default sizes set in the Main preferences. It's time consuming to keep having to change both the color and size for each text area I create in a document.

12. Add a way to resize an exported image with Export As method to a specific size, like Save for Web can

    In the old "Save for Web" function (please keep it!) it was possible to resize "on the fly" the destination image (EG my file is 8000 px but I can save an exported version of 800 without opening and resizing afterwards)
    In the "Export as.." function none of this is possible.

13. Right align Export destination folder path text on Export for Screens window

    My suggestion is to have the 'folder path' text be right aligned in the text box, to have the export destination be more accessible, instead of the root folders.

    Currently, I have to click into the folder path text box, then click + drag to see where my file will export to. This is cumbersome and unnecessary.

    I can use sketch book-procreate, but Adobe its just foregin ,you offer no means for me to understand and its very sad- I need to make clean crisp lines- I need control+ in Procreate it all looks good then BANG IM IN RASTER AWFULLNESS. THISIS WHY IVE BEEN TRYING OVER AND OVER.
    LAST TIME i tried So much loaded to my mac book pro+ account! I cant get rid of this adobe software- Im fearing Im hacked by your partner? seller? I cant bring myself to use links,I just cant understand. Adobe is Linked to Wacom tablet that is broke-on Catalina. If you are leaving the format like it is on my I Pad I need to say goodbye FOREVER, I need all that software from you to be gone from my mac book pro+ I do not know what I did...Originally the software ran from Browser-then stopped working- then all those fonts-files and ???

15. Ask user before updating links (AI 26.0.1)

    When opening a file containing linked images that have been revised AI will automatically update images without any alert.

    This is pretty dangerous for anyone working with a team or refer/update old projects.

    Would love to have it ask me first or at least tell me which links were updated. Something to create awareness that things have changed since it was last opened.

16. Create new Library from document like Photoshop

    I have a file that has 124 individually named artboards (each containing 1 icon), and was looking for a faster way to add these icons (with their appropriate names) to a library, rather than having to drag each one from their artboard to the library panel, and then have to rename each one (again). Photoshop offers this capability

17. 'Reveal in finder' right-click images

    Can basic image functions please get added to right-click menus. Both when right-clicking images, and when right-clicking images in the Links panel...

    • Re-link image
    • Update link
    • Link File Info...
    • Embed/Unembed image
    • Reveal in Finder
    • Reveal in Bridge
    • Edit in Photoshop

    I also made a single “Full Image & Link Overhaul” request that pulled all the smaller image issues together, but it seems to have been deleted. Can an admin explain why?

18. A mode for Free Transform tool to hug selected points tightly

    Affinity has Transform mode for selected points (see the GIF).
    Figma recently announced a similar thing — https://x.com/figma/status/2018778936482935124

    Illustrator meanwhile allows to use Scale, Rotate, and other dedicated transform tools for a partial selection. No bounding box is allowed when Direct Selection is active.
    We can pick Free Transform and use a familiar frame to transform the partial selection... but this frame hugs the entire object. This can be useful in some cases, but not that handy in others -—like when you need to work with a rather small part of a larger artwork.
    Perhaps there should be a way to may the frame hug the selection snuggly?

19. I would love to see a "temporary canvas" or "temporary file" feature added to illustrator

    I often find myself creating temporary documents that I end up deleting after doing whatever I need to do in Illustrator before bringing over to InDesign or some other application. It'd be so nice to start a "Quick Canvas" or something that has the full functionality of Illustrator, but it instead acts as a notepad that can either auto-save to the cloud or just delete itself after using.

20. The ability to check an option for "convert lines to shapes" when I export different formats

    When exporting a file to SVG.... I wish there was a check box where I can specify it converts all lines to shapes on export to SVG... This way I do not have to do the conversion manually... and then revert back when I save ai version...

    Often I get messages that distract me and then I forget to revert back and accidentally save the ai version with lines as shapes... then my mast ai version gets messed up...

    Thanks a lot for reporting the feature request. When you say shape do you mean you want lines to get converted to SVG elements? Does this apply to the other shapes like, ellipse, circle or rectangles as well?
