1. Release to Layers should inherit custom names from original objects

   When I Release to Layers, all of the objects within that layer are renamed to "Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3" etc. and I'd love to be able to have the new layers be named the same as when they were objects.

3. Remove Text to Vector from Properties panel

   Would like an option to remove it from Properties panel as it sometimes opens on its own after I have closed it and it impedes my workflow having to close it again because it obstructs actually useful things Properties panel.

4. 3D shadows color and opacity change

   3D effects give only a black shadow that makes 3D object's color dirty, greyish. And it looks like 90's 3D effect. Possibility to change the shadow color? Or the shadow color bases on the object's colors and thus makes the diffuse.

5. Japanese characters in Japanese fonts are misaligned in Vertical Text Alignment

   Starting with v24.3, vertical text alignment is now available. This is a great feature we have been waiting for. However, characters in Japanese fonts are misaligned at the center and bottom, as shown in Figure-1.

   This is probably due to the fact that the bottom edge of the character is used as the baseline.Maybe we need The Last Baseline option.It's a tough road. But the Illustrator team can make it happen, I am sure of it.

   v24.3より、垂直方向のテキスト配置が利用できるようになりました。これは待ち望んでいた素晴らしい機能です。しかし、日本語フォントの文字は、Figure-1に示すように、中央揃えと下揃えの位置がずれてしまいます。
   これは、文字の下端をベースラインとしていることが原因と思われます。末尾ベースラインオプションが必要かもしれません。大変な道のりです。しかし、Illustratorチームはそれを実現できる、私はそう確信しています。

6. Reduce memory used and improve whole application performance speed.

   Improvement of whole application performance speed.
   Reduce the amount of memory used. (But keep a nimble performance)
   User thinks that performance improvement is the most important, but please do not correct it so that it will improve by using a lot of memory.

   Reasons :
   Recently, memory management has improved, but application crashes due to illegal memory access still occur.
   If the operation speed is slow, I think that work efficiency will be the most degraded.
   Reduction in time to start up and performance greatly affect all work.
   Not all users are using the new and high spec machines.
   Although the specifications of the machine are good, the performance is bad, so it will be helpful to improve it.

7. Percentage rulers

   Photoshop has Percentage as a unit for its ruler, and I find it very useful when one needs to center an element, or drag a guide in the middle or the third of the image, especially as one can stick to the ruler marks.

   I always wondered why Illustrator did not have that functionality.

8. An option to hide the HEX field in Color or make it pop in RGB/HSB only

   Starting version 27.6.1, we are given a permanent HEX field in Color panel, following these two request:

   But some users do not like seeing it all the time and would like to be able to disable it, or at least pop only for RGB and HSB only.

   Please add this option into Color panel’s flyout menu.

10. Display Performance Quality like InDesign (an image proxy capability for large images)

    It would be cool to be able to adjust the Display Performance (even if only on placed bitmaps) like InDesign (Fast Display / Typical Display / High Quality Display) in order to gain a performance boost.

11. The Color panel pops up when you click on stroke/fill selector

    The Color panel pops up every time you click on the stroke or fill selectors. There is no way to disable this panel from popping up, even if you close it, it will open and come to the forefront. Many of us don't need or use the color panel; we use the swatches or other panel. Why is this panel being forced on those of us who don't use/want it?

12. Script for Data Merge from Excel into Illustrator

    I am looking for a way to import Excel data into specific layers in Adobe Illustrator CC 2017.

    Essentially to have the Excel data tables to link to different artboards and be able to be updated each time the file is opened or as needed. Assuming this would be some kind of script so one could just run the script again or a data merge process (similar to what is available in InDesign.

13. Place multiple files in a grid like InDesign (Gridify)

    InDesign has a very nifty feature that I would like to see in Illustrator; if you press the arrow keys while placing multiple files at once, you can create a "grid" of said files. Depending on the job I'm working on, I have to place hundreds of files at once... Having this feature would streamline a lot of my projects.

    Most of the Features in Illustrator have inconsistent number of decimal places.
    New document size — 3 decimal places, 0.001
    Artboard size — 2 decimal places, 0.01
    Artboard position x,y (in the same window) — 1 decimal place, 0.1
    creating new rectangle — 4 decimal places, 0.0001
    Object transformation — 3 decimal places, 0.001
    Rectangle angle — 2 decimal places, 0.01
    Rounding corners — 3 decimal places, 0.001
    Split into grid — 2 decimal places, 0.01

    Offset path — 4 decimal places, 0.0001
    3d revolve angle — 0 decimal places
    3d Extrude & Bevel angles — 2 decimal places, 0.01
    3d Extrude & Bevel — extrude depth — 2 bevel height — 0 decimal places
    3d Rotation everything — 2 decimal places, 0.01
    drop shadow dialogue — 2 decimal places, 0.01

    Let's look at the example user journey:

    In my workflow I am building an illustration of isometric sport games layouts.
    As Illustrator has an working area size limitation i am forced to keep the illustration in certain scale. and for smaller objects I have to create bigger versions of 3D elements, then through symbols/CC library scale them down. Otherwise the limitation in number of decimal places of the 3D effects doesn't allow me to keep the proper object shapes.

    The number of decimal places in Transform tool is 3 (minimum 0.001)

    The extrude Depth field has a soft cap for 2 decimal places and minimum value of 0.01 pt

    The Bevel Height for some unclear reason is limited to zero decimal places — 1 pt

    Both have to be 3 decimal places a minimum value of at least 0.01 pt

15. Effects do not rotate (drop shadow) or scale (e.g: gaussian blur)

    If you create a logo and use the drop shadow effect, the values will scale but not rotate.IN packaging design we often rotate the logo for every panel on a carton. After you rotate the logo you must manually change the values to for example get the most popular bottom right drop shadow on all logos.

    Gaussian blur can be sued to make a your own drop shadow effect, but that has another problem in that the blur amount will not adjust.

    If you search your home or local supermarket, you will eventual find items that went incorrectly to press, identifying this being done in Adobe Illustrator.

    My expectation is that the drop shadow would rotate. I understand this may be difficult to accomplish to angled logos, but for 90° rotations would be very helpful.

16. An option to enable and use geometric centers for equilateral shapes (polygons)

    Please enable the option to use the geometrically correct centerpoint as the intersection of the edge-normals for odd-edged polygons instead of using the "half the height, half the width"-centerpoint, or at least enable it as an option. Drawing the circumference-circle really is annoying.

18. Easily move large number of swatches into a CC Library

    Companies offer free downloads of their color libraries, typically over 1000 individual color swatches. Currently, each swatch has to be moved one-by-one into a library. It's extremely time consuming and tedious. I have talked to numerous customer service agents and there is no satisfactory work around.

    Create an easy way to transfer numerous color swatches at once into a library (which allows for use of the search bar feature). Using CCD > your work > upload does not work either.

19. Allow to filter files in Recent menu/section to include only AI documents and exclude chosen formats like PDF, JPEG, TIFF, Save a Copy, etc.

    RECENT FILES SHOULD IDEALLY BE ONLY AI DOCUMENTS.

    If I have exported say 10 jpgs in my previous session, on start-up my RECENT FILES is over-run with those JPG file names. They all have the same thumbnail too. That's outrageous!

20. Password protect in layers
