Text disappearing when outlined
When outlining text in Illustrator, some of the text is disappearing, as though under a clipping mask, The text outlines are present but the text is not visible.
Turning the fill to overprint stops this happening, but I can't overprint white text....I have tried on a brand new file, so there are no formatting issues. The typeface is irrelevant it happens on all types .otf or .ttf...

テキストにセットしたFOT-UD角ゴが正しく表示されない。（設定の狂った小塚ゴシックで表示される）
テキストにセットしたFOT-UD角ゴフォントが正しく表示されない。
ドキュメント内のすべてのFOT-UD角ゴに適用されるわけではなく、正常に表示される部分とされない部分が存在している。ドキュメントを開いた際に、FOT-UD角ゴではなく、UDKakugo LargePr6N-M-90ms-RKSJ-H*のアクティベートを求められることから、UD角ゴを指定した際に、フォントの英語名での指定にすり替わっているのではないかと考えられる。
ディアクティベーション後にリアクティベーションしても治らない。
ドキュメントをFOT-UD角ゴで作って保存後に閉じて開きなおすと、UD-kakugoがないとされて、表示が崩れる。
その後、FOT-UD角ゴを指定しなおしても、小塚ゴシックで表示される。
なので保存をするとUD角ゴを使っていた部分すべてが崩れる。
修正をしても保存したら崩れる。
Adobe Fonts側の問題なのか、illustrator側の問題かわからないので、ここに報告しておく。（フォントの内部的にUDkakukgoの情報が保持されていて、上書きができない？）

Kerning Issues with latest update
The last Illustrator update has caused havoc with all of my type placement for files saved under the previous version. I tried to change color modes for a project and all of my text shifted (different now between the digital and print versions). This would seem to be a bug; the kerning gets super tight and some of the empty spaces (just the space character) all but disappear, compacting words together. Variable Fonts style order on Character pallete
When a variable font has an instance (that is not the first master) set as the default, it shows on top of the list and not in its right place. It should not move to the top of the list.

Type on path tool, cannot flip to inside the path

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019) macOS Big Sur v. 11.2.3, 32mg memory, 2.3GHz 8-core Intel Core i9, Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB
Created a circle, attempting to use type on path tool, works find to place type outside circle, cannot drag the type inside the circle to be at the bottom. Shows there when I click and drag but when I release it places the text on the outside of the circle in a different location.

Using Undo after accidental selecting text on path corrupts text and can’t be fixed with Undo
Object on top of unlocked text on path.
Sse lasso to select top object but also grab visually blocked text path by accident.
Delete.
Realize corrupted underneath text
Ctrl+Z does NOT fix text.

25.2.1 Windows 10 - Occasionally No Fonts Load
I am not sure if this is a reproducible but on Windows 10 1909, since upgrading to Illustrator 25.2.1 will occasionally not load any fonts after opening. The font selection dropdown list is entirely blank and no system fonts or activated typekit fonts show. I have no issue with fonts in any other programs.

Kerning not working between first two characters of any word
No matter what I do, I can't adjust the kerning between the first two characters of any word in illustrator. The rest of the word can be spaced just fine, just not between the the first two letters. Please help, this is sort of an essential duty of this software.

TEXT TOOL NOT WORKING - WEIRD SHAPES APPEAR
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Same issue remains
I create a text box and it looks like a barcode, kind of. I can't type anything. If I type, the weird barcode thing disappears and no works appear. If I type a lot of random characters and enlarge it and unselect the box it gets weirder, it just become a giant jagged blob. I can't explain it any better than that. Extremely annoying.

Margin or Adjustment Markers for Type on Path not showing
The margins or markers on the left and right side for adjusting the type showed up for a moment but then can't get them to reappear again. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck.
I was able to get the margins to show by starting a new document but after a while they disappear or stop working. Can this bug be looked into please thank you.

Cannot select objects near text object
This is a bug and not an idea.
I cannot seem to select object that are behind a text object, such as the black rectangle in this example. The blue line indicates the edge of the type area.

Illustrator font panels shows wrong data
When I have a text selected on Illustrator, the fonts panel shows a wrong font, it shows a font what I previously selected for a different text and not the font that the selected text actually is.

Type on Path Brackets Not Appearing
When using type on path tool (and then direct selection for realignment), the brackets to realign often don't appear regardless of how long you tediously go over the path trying to get the cursor to change. In the off chance we can get them to appear, often it isn't possible to drag the text fully to where it needs to be to go in place before the cursor jumps. This isn't happening in Photoshop, only Illustrator, which leads me to believe it is a bug.

Fonts dropdown is not showing any fonts
My font dropdown is no longer displaying any fonts, I updated to the most recent version. While researching it looked like this was an issue a few years ago...did this issue come back again or is mine broken?

Kerning value Doubles in Adobe Apps
When using Adobe apps v 21 the kerning values double from what they are set at in the typeface.

Just updated to Illustrator 24.3 and now installed font only has a few letters
I updated to the latest version of Illustrator (24.3) and opened a document I had created in a previous version. Most of my text was missing. I checked and the font was still available and activated. I deactivated and reactivated and that didn't help. When I click the text, it gives me the message that "This text was created in a different version of Illustrator. Editing the text may cause some changes to your text layout. Basic formatting will not be affected. Do you want to continue?" The font is PeachyKeenJF. Only a few letters/numbers actually show up. Text height is wrong
When you select a specific text height, it is not correct. Say for instance you select 1 inch for text height but in reality the cap height is .68 inches. We work at a sign shop and a lot of jobs require a specific text height. This is misleading when I pick 1 inch for text height and it is no where near 1 inch in height. Can you please make it where the text height corelates to the actual cap height of the text, otherwise this feature is useless.
2 votesLatest Illustrator releases have Font Height Options you can access form Character panel’s menu — they allow you to set font height as a capital / x-height specifically.
The functionality has some minor issues (regarding rounded stems for some fonts, keeping the chosen option between launches), but otherwise it is very good. Please try it!
