Generative Expand ruins stroked linework
Please fix the Generative Expand. It ruins your linework and makes random lines on object. It becomes impossible to work around because even the scissor tool cant cut it since there is a ton of nodes.
It also gets complicated with the shape builder as that tool ruins the stroke weights.
Lastly the stroke / fill thing it keeps swapping it to fill instead of stroke then you have to re put the lineweights every single time.
Some of the parts of the lines even get removed.2 votes -
Sometimes Alt-dragging a Variable Stroke Width width handle results in the other side of the handle snapping to 0
Sometimes Alt-dragging a Variable Stroke Width width handle results in the other side of the handle snapping to 0. Very unexpected behavior.
I have not as yet found a repeatable test case for this, perhaps now that I've posted this bug I will try to isolate it the next time this happens to be and add it here :)

Overprint lines not working in Illustrator 2026 (v. 30)
The overprint feature is not working (both lines and fills). Not only does it not work with the Separation Preview in the app, but when output to PDF it is confirmed to not work. Inks that are indicated to overprint are knocking out.

Stroke scaling bug in Illustrator even with “Scale Strokes & Effects” enabled
Hi Adobe team,
I would like to report an issue regarding stroke behavior in Adobe Illustrator.
Even with “Scale Strokes & Effects” enabled in both Preferences and the Transform panel, the stroke weight still changes incorrectly when scaling objects. When scaling down, the stroke becomes thinner than expected, and when scaling up, it becomes thicker than it should.
I noticed that normal strokes behave correctly, including strokes applied in the Appearance panel. However, the issue occurs when I group two or more objects (text/shapes) and then apply a stroke via Appearance on the group. Once the group is scaled, the…

A width profile that is uneditable and rendered wrong
Take a look at these two path; Illustrator says they have the same width profile, but it’s obviously not correct.
If saved as Graphic styles — these do match.
Paths match.
Directions match (and simple reversing still looks different).
The left-hand path cannot be edited with the native Width tool.I can edit these with Width Selector tool by Astute Graphics, but it makes the width changed in a different spot. Saving the style, clearing the appearance, reapplying the style — heals the bug. Deleting a leftmost segment... this keep the look the same (almost), but the bug gets healed…

Joining two paths completely ruins brush width/variable stroke width profiles
- Draw a path with a pressure-sensitive brush. Draw another one that begins near where the first one ends.
- Select the ends of both paths. Object > Join.
Wonder why the resulting pressure profile bears no resemblance to what you had on screen before the join.

I think it might be just grabbing the pressure/width…

Stroke gradient sometimes defaults to within stroke instead of across stroke when using eyedropper
I have a path with a gradient across the stroke that I'm copying to other strokes using the eyedropper, and roughly 90% of the time it works fine, but sometimes it lags a little and then copies the appearance over except for the across stroke, instead setting itself to the stroke gradient default of within stroke. Obviously fixing this is only a couple button clicks, but still.

Strokes with a profile and have the rounded corners selected end up having pointy corners
The corners of my strokes should have a rounded corner but the moment I adjust the profile with the width tool they turn all pointy

Strokes smaller than 1 pt (or 1 mm) become zero when Stroke Weight down arrow key button is used
If you set a stroke to 1 pt and click Stroke Weight down arrow key button, it correctly goes to the next smaller value from the dropdown — 0.75 pt.
But if you do the same with 0.95 or anything smaller than 1 pt, clicking this button instantly makes it zero, skipping all the smaller values. It’s even worse if you set stroke units to be non-points — even though there are plenty of smaller values in the dropdown, and 1 mm is much larger than a point, it goes 0 too.
While Cmd/Ctrl+arrow (not recorded) works fine with points,…

Cursed Path includes non deletable artifacts — part of shape when outlined.
I have drawn custom shapes using the pen tool. Visible artifacts are growing out of anchors. When I switch to outline mode, these artifacts are not visible, yet when I expand the strokes, the artifacts become part of the resulting shape. I cannot resolve this by deleting the anchors that cause the issue, if I do that and then reconnect the remaining points, the artifact simply reappears. I'm attaching an Illustrator file with the cursed paths so that others can see if they experience the same issue or if they can resolve it.
I am running Illustrator cc 29.4 on…

More than 32,000 anchor points can be added to a single path
The pathPoint limit is 32,000, and if we try to continue drawing a path from the end of a PathItem with the pen tool, a dialog box will appear and refuse to add anchor points, but we can add anchor points to the segments in between.
macOS 14.7.2
Illustrator ver. 29.3.1Step to reproduce
1. Create a path object in a new document.
2. Add 32,000 anchor points to the path object.
3. Click on any segment with the pen tool. We can add anchor points even if the number of anchor points exceeds 32000 (the number of segments exceeds…3 votes -
Inconsistent stroke value
It didn't seem to be a problem before, but when I have two closed shapes that read and are supposed to have the same stroke value, but they appear to be completely different values.

Offset Path and Aligned Strokes get rendered partially with a specific handle configuration
When a curved segment of a path has diverging handles that are oriented in different quadrants across the X axis (this is my guess), like it’s shown in the attached document and the GIF, Illustrator renders the result only up to the horizontal tangents of the path. Same thing happens if you try to toggle Align Stroke options (they seem to use the Offset math).
Adding and extra point on the rendered segment helps, but it’s not really a solution.
The bug is quite old and perhaps it’s time to get it fixed?8 votes -

Changing the size of a graphic will not remain stable and does not maintain it's location point.
I have a graphic that uses the top-left as the alignment reference point. It is on an artboard that is positioned in whole numbers (no decimals).
I want it to be at X: 20px and Y: 20px
I want it to be W: 700px or Y: 700px (either one not both)
I do not want the position of X or Y to change from 20px.
I want to maintain whole numbersWhat happens instead:
When I resize the graphic it will not maintain a whole number and it changes the position/location of my reference point. I have snap to pixel…1 vote -
Unidentified dash / gap values get shown as zeroes
Make a simple test (as demonstrated in the attached GIF).
Make sure you test this after relaunching Illustrator.
Open Preferences > Units and make sure you have all three parameters (General, Stroke, Type) set to Points.A. Create a new document based on Web document profile
B. Create a simple rectangle
C. In the Stroke panel enable Dashed Line optionThe first 'dash' value would be 12 pt (or somethin else if you general units are not points), and the rest of the fields would be empty, undefined. It means Illustrator uses the same 12 pt for the gap.

clicking on stroke color in properties box adds fill to stroke
When trying to change stroke color, the properties box shows nothing in the RGB boxes. Clicking in them adds a fill to the stroke which is unwanted. Edit Gradient controls were buggy too
