Freeform Gradient fails at transformation.
Hey I like the freeform gradient tool. But after it is applied to an object, the gradient has some major issues with resizing and rotation of the object. From what I can tell the points are not truly anchored in the object, so when the shape rotates the gradient points drop off the object, causing them to delete. It's like the gradient floats above the object. Or more frustratingly, sometimes when using the line gradient within the freeform settings, a point will delete causing the lines to cross and lock up, becoming uneditable. Usually, if you are within the gradient,…

Applied gradient disappears and become black when applied to a compound path with a single anchor point included
I use the same gradient for several objects in a illustration. When closing and opening the document, one of the objects the gradient disappears and is filled black. The preview looks fine.
I already found the problem. It happens with compound paths with a single anchor point is included.

Blend tool with Freeform Gradients does not working properly
Blend tool not working with shapes that contain gradients. (preview box is greyed out as well)
It won't work from the start with shapes that already contain gradients and only produces black shapes and an error message when the color is applied after making the blend.18 votes -

Adding more than one color point in a freeform gradient fill makes other points vanish
I have had this problem with the freeform gradient tool since it was introduced and it has not been fixed. Adding more than one color point results in other color points disappearing.

Freeform gradient fill disappears after outline stroke
- Windows 10 Pro version 1809 OS build 17763.475 running Illustrator 23.0.3
- Make a shape. Fill it with a freeform gradient. Add a stroke. Use Object > Path > Outline Stroke.
- The stroke should be converted to a path and the fill should be untouched.
- When the stroke was converted to a path, the freeform gradient fill disappeared.
- The attached file is an animated gif I created to help a user on the forum who encountered the bug. https://forums.adobe.com/message/11077177#11077177

Freeform gradients become uneditable
I actually don't know if this is a feature request or a bug report, but I can't edit freeform gradients after I deselect the object with the gradient and then come back to it. When I come back to an object with a freeform gradient, using the gradient tool, the mouse pointer gets a little "no" symbol next to it (Wikipedia says it's called a general prohibition sign) and I can't see, let alone select and edit, any of the stops of the gradient. Is this a bug, or am I supposed to not be able to edit these? If…

"Apply gradient across stroke" shows terrible banding compared to a standard linear gradient
When applying a gradient to a stroke with the "apply gradient across stroke" option selected, the resulting gradient is very poor quality, with lots of visible banding.
In the attached image the top gradient is formed by feathering a rectangle with corner radius of 31.235 px by 20px. The quality is fine, although feathering makes specifying specific colours a hassle.
The middle object is the same rectangle with a 40pt stroke, with a white-to-black gradient applied with "apply gradient across stroke" selected. The gradient is very uneven, showing clear banding.
The bottom is a the same linear gradient applied as…

Adjusting gradient on ONE selection adjusts ALL other objects with the same gradient
When I select ONE object with an existing gradient and then try to adjust it, it will change ALL objects that have that same gradient. Extremely frustrating.

Gradient stroke with spot colors separations error
Using spot colors in a gradient stroke has problems on a close path. When viewing separations, white gaps appear between some spot colors.

Gradient locks to a color stop in the color tab
Gradient locks to a color stop in the color tab. If I want to use a solid fill, on the color tab it only allows me to change the color stop. I cannot do anything to escape out of the gradient stop. I have to remove the gradient first then choose a color. Older versions allowed me to just click on the color fill box and I can toggle between gradient stop and object fill.

linear gradients switching to radial gradients unexpectedly
Illustrator CC 2019 (both Mac and Win platforms) I teach at the college level. Numerous students have reported that they will create a linear gradient on a shape. When they continue editing other areas and return to that shape, the gradient has changed to radial. The linear gradient shape was not selected and they were not editing a gradient swatch. I cannot replicate this error. Any thoughts?

Freeform Gradient points should also move on transforming Freeform Art
Today I ran into a problem with Adobe Illustrator artwork featuring some freeform gradient fills. I had a to create flipped, mirrored version of it for printing purposes (graphics would be applied sub-surface to a sign face). The problem is the freeform gradient fills wouldn't flip with the rest of the artwork. I attached a visual example of it. Using the "expand appearance" command allowed for the artwork to be flipped 180° correctly. It would be nice if I could avoid that kind of a fix.

Freeform gradient line stops disappearing
The freeform gradient tool is very cool in its flexibility but I have encountered some major bugs with the line option. I can create the line stops but if I change the opacity of a stop from 100% then stops along the line most of the time one or more stops disappear.
Sometimes just clicking or clicking and moving a stop makes stops disappear as well.
It makes the tool unusable. Hopefully, it will become more reliable in a future release.

Gradient Annotator tool bug on Groups
Gradient Annotator tool is not visible for some objects but it is for others. See screen shot: visible on the rectangle, but when I edit the gradient of the compound shape, the annotator is not visible.
25 votesI am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.3.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Adjustments in gradient slider not applying to grouped objects
When adjusting the gradient slider for a group of objects, only some of the objects are affected by the slider. The rest of the objects don't change. Applies to both linear and radial gradients, but problem more frequent for radial.
(In screenshot, the lower-right corner shows how some of the objects follow the gradient slider adjustment, but the rest of the objects in the group don't change. Using macOS High Sierra and Illustrator CC v23.0.1.)2 votesPlease get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html .
