Multipoint Freeform Gradients Uneditable
Randomly all gradients in Illustrator with multiple points become uneditable, I cannot click on "Edit gradient" button and if I manage to it does nothing. Point on gradient temporarily come up when in Gradient panel, but disappears when I click off. I have reset the application numerous times.

Overlapping linearly opposing gradients (solid-to-transparent, of the same color) doesn’t produce a solid color
One oddity, which happens both in RGB and CMYK is that there is always some visibility of the background with two overlapping, linearly opposing gradients (black to white and white to black).
RGB attached for simplicity.
They should actually appear as uniform. Also the color at the 50% distance is not even a tint.2 votes -
Gradient across stroke, inside opacity mask is thresholded for half the width of the stroke
Applying a black-to-white gradient across a stroke inside an opacity mask results in a portion of the opacity mask not being applied, corresponding to half the width of the stroke, almost as if it is clipped by the stroke. If the path is subsequently outlined, which creates a mesh, the behavior is the same. If the object is a filled bezier curve, the behavior is normal with the shape masked as expected.

Freeform Gradient is not rendred
When I try to make a freeform gradient, the colors don't show up. I'm not sure if this is just an issue with a preview or something else.

Bug - Graduated stroke colors automatically changed!
A graduated stroke color was in a saved file applied to a brush stroke. I had not been in the file for several months. The preview appeared full color, but when I opened the file, it was like the opacity of the colors had been turned down, except they hadn't been! Inside the file, it appears faint. But the stroke does not indicate the opacity has been reduced. It is so confusing since the file has not been opened for over two months.
Don't know if it is a gradient or brush stroke issue or a compatibility issue.

複合パス化するとグラデーションストップが大きく移動する
Environment
Illustrator ver.27 or later

Applying a gradient to multiple objects simultaneously using the Gradient Tool and then converting them into a compound path causes significant changes to the gradient stops.Steps to reproduce
1. Arrange three rectangles horizontally and apply a gradient to their fills.
2. Use the Gradient Tool to adjust the three rectangles so the start and end gradient stops align with their left and right edges.
3. Convert the three rectangles into a…3 votes -
Breaks in gradients/gradients not rendering/pixels missing
I'm having issues with exporting artwork from Illustrator, which features a stroke (100pt, round cap) with a gradient (2x colours in gradient, applied along the stroke).
My operating system:
MacOS Tahoe 26.2The version of Adobe Illustrator (desktop):

The gradient is not displayed correctly when moving the shape in any blending mode (e.g. Screen)
When I move an object with a gradient in a blend mode, the gradient seems to stay in place while I move it, and only applies after I release the cursor. As you can see from the screenshots, I am not moving the gradient, but rather moving the object itself.
This is very annoying; I've never had this happen before. I'm very disappointed that I updated to the new version.
Is there any solution?

freedom gradient works only on half of the object if it has a clipping mask
When applying a Freeform Gradient to an object that uses a clipping mask, the gradient is rendered only on part of the visible area instead of the entire clipped object. The remaining portion of the object appears unaffected by the gradient, as if the gradient calculation were limited to only a section of the underlying geometry.

Gradient panel bug
I can't scroll in the Gradient panel like in the Libraries panel where i can see the other options or like the Properties panel when there's more options, but the space is not enough, but you can scroll so you can see the rest. And also the little panel where you can see the default styles of gradients is taken so much space and you can't minimize that space, that could be good, or just leave a line where you can see a limited or recent styles chosen but then you can click so it expands and shows you the…

Holding Shift when picking a color from a gradient in a CMYK document samples the wrong color
Even though we can hold Shift to pick a color form an object with a gradient applied, it picks the color sampled from the screen — the RGB value.
It means if we are in a CMYK document and picking a color from a white-to-black gradient, the picked color would NOT be a shade of black, as expected, but an atrocious converted muddy RGB value.
This is not what it should do!7 votes -
[Bug] Perceptual Gradients change from CMYK to a RGB conversion of CMYK?
When I create a white to black gradient in CMYK mode as classic and it looks fine when separations previewed. When I change to peceptual it adds color in the areas from about 1% to 99% and does not stay black only. I tried it with 100% cyan to white and it added magenta and yellow in the same areas.

Objects with Perceptual Gradients applied (and no Dither) gets rasterized fully on PDF export, instead of becoming clipped rasters
It still rasterizes the whole object, rather than converting it to a clipped bitmap (unless you also enable Dither though).

Perceptual Gradients are uniformly converted to 72ppi images in PDF
The new perceptual gradients feature in 2026 (30) is being uniformly converted to low-resolution 72ppi images when exported to PDF.
The attached file is a PDF exported from 2026 (30.0.0).

Pasting an object with perceptual gradient applied expands it and converts into an image
- Create a rectangle and fill it with a gradient (liner/radial)
- In the gradient panel, change the method from Classic to Perceptual
- Copy the object
- Paste the object
Check the Appearance panel — it’d show the object is now an image, with the original perceptual fill tucked under the pixels!
And if the object had a stroke, it becomes a group with a stroke in it separated.5 votesThis issue is reportedly fixed in the latest Beta 30.3.126 build.

Gradient does not rotate with object when using corner handles (manual transform)
When an object with a gradient is rotated manually using the bounding box (corner handles), the gradient does not rotate with the object.
However, using the Rotate tool or Object > Transform > Rotate results in correct gradient behavior. This silent inconsistency leads to invisible errors in print output — especially in professional workflows.
🧪 The bug was tested on multiple Illustrator versions, macOS and Windows, fresh installs, and clean preference files. It is reproducible.

Edit Gradient Issue
As you can tell by the picture, I've clicked on an object that already has a gradient, but it does not give me the option to click 'Edit Gradient' and it does not already show me the gradient line over top of the object so I can manipulate the sliders. However, when I clicked on the object below (which also has a gradient) it did give me the option to click "Edit Gradient"

Gradient Strokes lose exactly 1pt thickness when placed and embedded into another Illustrator file
When placing AI or PDF files into an Illustrator document, any strokes that have gradients applied will become exactly 1pt thinner than its intended weight. The weight shows properly before embedding the link. I've seen a number of designers use a gradient 1pt line on their artwork to seem "metallic" only to find their line completely disappears if their artwork is placed into another Illustrator file. This only applies if you embed the link. Leaving the linked AI/PDF as a link will preserve the correct stroke weight.
This appears to be present in several versions of Illustrator dating back to…

Transform Each records angles for gradients in a way Eyedropper cannot pick them
Take a look at the test file attached and the GIF with the steps.
1. All gradients have zero angle
2. Select All and call Transform Each dialog
3. Set an angle (I chose45°) and disable Transform Objects — this should rotate only the fill, not the paths. Apply.
4. Check the angles with the Gradient panel, the values is displayed as correct.
5. Create a new rectangle and set its appearance to the default one with D hotkey
6. Pick the Eyedropper toll and make sure both Appearance options are enabled in its options (otherwise it shouldn’t work at…7 votes
