Global Process Colors get added twice when added from a CC library, lose their name and become Spot colors.
Create a Global Process Color Swatch and add it to a CC library.
In a new document, select this color in the library, right click and choose
Add to Swatches.
The color gets added 2 times, becomes a spot color and loses it’s name.
Or, in a new document double click the color in the Library. It gets added only once, keeps it’s name but becomes a Spot color.
Background:
- CC libraries does not have support for Global Process Colors
- Some users have spoken about InDesign – InDesign does not support Global Process colors
- Illustrator does support process colors , global process colors and spot colors. The issue is specefic to global process colors – since it is not supported in CC Libraries. We have added the request to support in CC libraries backlog,
Workaround:
- Create Process colors in Illustrator and add it to CC libraries – deselect the global checkbox

This is STILL an issue? It's 2020, can we get this looked at?

Not that I am any kind of expert but if Illustrator just matched InDesign's swatch behaviour, I'd imagine this wouldn't be a problem.

Colors still coming in from Library as spot colors in Ai 2020? This comes up so often; when will it be resolved?

When is this going to be fixed? It's been a problem forever, and I run into it on a daily basis.

Makes it very difficult to use CC Libraries for working with clients - we need to share Pantone colors like Pantone+ Color Bridge, which are all global, process swatches. Hoping for a fix soon - this is crucial for Adobe Illustrator and all CC workflows. Thank you.

InDesign swatches are always global.

I'm trying to make better use of Libraries and am having this same issue. Adds another time-consuming step to what should be a seamless process of simply adding the colors, once, as they are in the library.

This was reported in 2017 and it's now 2019, any update on this??

Happens primarily in Illustrator. I have to convert the imported swatch from spot to process manually each time. Huge frustration, especially when working with multiple brand-specific process swatches.

@Ton Thank you so much for your advise. That was the best solution. I've saved a lot of time . I've just thought I should change each colour type from spot to process.

@Nana, you can convert spot to process by selecting your objects and choosing: Edt > Edit Colors > Convert to CMYK

Please fix it ASAP. I didn't know about this issue when I designed my artwork using the only CMYK. My client complained me to change all Pantone(spot) colour(I used CC library) to CMYK and now I have to spend so many time to change a bunch of files.
Is there any way finding spot colour where I used?
I was really hard to find and change where I used spot color and change to CMYK. -

Thanks for looking into it. Related to this other problem:

I have a library of over 400 colors that i'm sharing over CC Libraries. InDesign doesn't let you add multiples colors at once, so I don't want to recreate there!

Bug still exists! We just installed CC 2018. Colors created and added to Library in Photoshop, then used in InDesign, remain Spot colors no matter how many times you change to Process. In ID, I created dupes of each color, designated them as Process, deleted originals and renamed dupes. Ridiculous. Why bother with the Library at all?
