Just found that it's been reassigned to "H" key... not sure if this is causing your issues, but worth a try, I will note that in trying to change the shortcut back to "Spacebar" it does not recognize it as a shortcut.

I had this problem today and saw that someone had Keeper open, causing the problem for that person. I had Keeper open, quit it, and now I'm back to normal without restarting Illustrator, or anything else other than Keeper.

it’s working for a few minutes after restart then stops.

Is there a fix already ? Same problem. High Sierra

This just happened to me as well. Personally, it wrecks my workflow when I can't quickly zoom and pan in a larger Illustrator file. Please fix this issue.

Same Issue here, tried to reset the App through CMD + OPT + SHFT. The App already reset, but still there's no Pan tool. Even in Keyboard Shortcut, Pan doesn't exist.

Hope this major issue is a priority. Pan tool is the most basic tool we use everyday.

It may be a problem with a Catalina version. Try update to Catalina 10.15, which worked for me just a second ago.

this problem exists with Photoshop and Indesign as well.

Still an issue after updating to Catalina last night.

Hello! My spacebar shortcuts have completely stopped working suddenly. I did all the restart and browser orders but it isn't helping. Even trying to change it through the keyboard shortcuts isn't happening.

ADOBE!!!! Where are you at with this fix.. this is insane - magically the Spacebar works fine with Sketch - maybe contact them for some help?

I closed Google Chrome and it worked for me. Then I closed Illustrator and opened it again and that was how the space bar worked :)

Any updates on this issue? Spacebar just stopped working and is now forcing me to use the "h" key as a shortcut. very frustrating, please fix this asap

Has anything been resolved for the space bar shortcut yet? Mine just quit working and I have tried updating, restarting and am still not getting any solutions?

It seems to happen with a combination of some extra apps.
when I open the keeper-app I can't use my spacebar in illustrator. When I shut the keeper-app the spacebar work well again.. (maybe a plug-in with safari and/or chrome). Strange though.

Sarah, I do use Chrome. That's a pain in the neck but I'll try! I'm crippled without my hand/space bar tool! Thanks a ton!!

I found a resolve for my system. If I open all my programs (and an artboard) before anything else, my key commands work just fine. If I open chrome before I open my programs, somehow all my key commands are messed up.

(and this is when I start up my machine in the morning. Doesn't work unless it's the first thing I do)
