Units in AI 2018 not functioning properly
The new update to Illustrator, 2018, seems to be having issues with files made in previous versions of Illustrator, as of 10/19/17. I'm having trouble setting the Units. When I try to set my rulers to inches, they seem to remain at points - even the properties pallet.
Although, I just reinstalled 2017 (on 10/20/17) because of these bugs and when I launched the AI app from the CC app, it launched the 2018 version (since I had not yet uninstalled it). When I checked again, this issue seems to have been resolved since yesterday. I kept double checking and I was definitely working in 2018. I thought this may have been remedied because I saved my previous file in 2018, then reopened it in 2018. However, when double checking the original file made in a previous version, the rulers were now working in 2018. I still plan to uninstall 2018 while Adobe works through similar bugs, but it is great to see how fast your teams are responding and fixing these issues. Thanks Adobe! I will check back in on the 2018 AI product in a couple of months and give it another try :)
We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 23.0.3

Ever since installing Illustrator CC 2018 I have been having issues with units. I work with millimeters, but every time I open the program or even a new file - it has reset itself to points. Now I have a new problem - Tried to change the units to millimeter, but it is still stuck on points when I want to check the measurements on an object. Very frustrating and time consuming, please fix this Illustrator team!

Resetting prefs did not fix for entirely for me on Sierra. I like to quick switch units by right clicking in rulers. Reseting prefs may have helped as now I can unselect and reelect to get the units to switch in properties, but not perfect as the transform palette does not require unselecting & selecting.

I've solved this issue by following the instrucion that you'll find here: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html
basically you'll need to:
"Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (macOS) as you start Illustrator. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Illustrator."After that set Illustrator Preferences as you prefer than quit Illustrator.
Next time you'll start Illustrator it should be fine. -

MAcOS Illustrator CC2018 (22.0.0) With units preference set to mm, open a new document and create a simple object. On the properties tab, in the transform section is shows the placement and dimensions in inches. But if you click the 3 dots for more options, they are all in mm. Same bug occurs when resizing the artboards.

Illustrator is not opening after updating into 2018 version and photoshop's shortcut is not working like older version works (some time works but most of the time not)

I'm having the exact same issue.
I'm trying to set 'millimeters' as the general unit format.
Everytime I restart Illustrator it resets back to points, same thing happens when I simply open a file. -
