Bug in entering number values in transform panel
Version: CC 22 (and has happened in previous versions)
OS: Windows 10
There is a small bug that happens often when using the transform panel. I use it a lot to move and size objects with precision. Many times, I will want to move an object with the X and Y values. I will type a number, press enter and a completely different number value will automatically appear in the box and move it to that value. For example, I want to move an object to 4.25" in the Y axis and after I press enter, a value of 36.0833" appears and moves it to that value. It can happen up to three times before the number I want finally sticks. It is a minor inconvenience but would be great if this got fixed.
Thanks.
It is now obvious the issue was not fixed fully. The developers are aware of it now. Let’s hope it will be fixed soon enough.
If you have a solid order of steps which reproduce this behavior, share them in comments, because only some machines are affected. Please help the team to isolate it.

In version 24.12 it is an issue again. I cannot get an exact dimension, Illustrator automatically changes the number to something else. For example, I put in 2.25" for the width, and get 2.2507"

YES! We have the same problem in CS5 when inputing an 8" x 10" rectangle the software creates an object that is 8.0686" x 10.0686". Last resort may be to reinstall the program?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. -

This is STILL NOT FIXED. I downloaded the free trial version of the most recent adobe illustrator, and I CANT EVEN RESIZE THE TEXT. Forget it. Just lost thousands of dollars for myself and my entire team 20+ people. We're sticking with inkscape, which is free and actually works. Ridiculous you can't even resize in both width and height, only width will rescale no matter what you do! Absolutely ridiculous adobe, thats so basic. Sad to see its been happening for YEARS and nothing has been done.

The transform panel has SO MANY issues - this i s just one of them. I also doesn't resize properly and will change both values even when "constrain height and width proportions" is unlocked. It also rotates items when resizing.
For all the ways you keep people paying for your software you have got to do better - this is ridiculous!

It is not solved, this is so basic to work & they cannot fix it.
I am agree with the dude below, is completely unacceptable, how can they not fix this? People is complaining since 3 years !!
I'm planning to cancel my susbscription, I'm going to change to Sketch, they are not trashy like illustrator. -

Not really- I still have the problem and I'm using 23.1.1. To not mention the rest of the bugs that show up, like freezing various functions like changing the language etc. after 5 min of use of the programme- forcing you to close everything and restart the whole programme to be able to work properly again..
Why would you release and ask people to pay for a product that contains bugs and hence it's dysfunctional?
I honestly expected more from a company like Adobe! -

glad to know it's not just me that uses the x/y all the time. my issue is similar but usually it displays on the x/y values correctly, but the dimensions will be off by .0001. So if something is 4.246" and I move an element of it .004, it shows up as 4.2499 or 4.2501. It's almost as if the display values are rounded from the actual values (similar to how artboard values round to 2 decimals on the display, but the actual size is accurate). if that makes sense at all. Frustrating because it continues to throw of dimensions and glitch further unless you undo and try again with different reference points etc. Same weirdness happens for W/H values when scaling - when entering values and when using the arrows to adjust as well. Adjust the width and the height scales .0001 more or less than it should, and vice versa. These errors happen in conjunction and independently of each other - and can start to compound, taking you even farther away from the accurate value. Even weirder is sometimes just changing the reference point and repeating the same actions = accurate results. Seriously obnoxious and has happened to me for at least two years on every update.

Fixed problem by setting priority to stronger graphic card when running Illustrator.

I experience this also. While it is mostly just annoying, if making a minor but critical change it is easily missed.

I am also having this issue, I would love to know how to fix it, or for the next update to correct this!

Adobe are you looking into this problem? It has been an issue for me for months.

This is a problem related to the Scale Strokes & Effects feature. Try to unchecked the box and see if it works.

This is an age old bug. It has been in nearly every version of illistrator. LAZY CODING.
Don't think they want or know how to fix.The only fix is to go slower.

The value of “W” is reflected but the value of “H” is not reflected. In some cases, it is executed with a value different from the input value.
In addition to not reflecting the numerical values, different values may be input, so it is very troubling. This problem also occurred in Ver. 22.0.1, and has been reproduced by several users in the J-Product forum.

変形パネルのW・Hに対して、W入力・tabキー移動・H入力・Enterをクリックしても、Hに意図した数値が反映されない場合があります。
数値が反映されないだけではなく、違う数値が入力される場合があるので、とても困ります。

I have a similar issue. Even with the constrain proportions link is active, it changes the size to whatever it wants and even changes the proportions! I've tried it without the link active and it changes it perfectly. It's only when trying to scale proportionately that it doesn't want to change the numbers to EXACTLY what I input!

I have the same problem, I typed into the transform window some values to adjust a shape, and now my app is unresponsive! I'm just about to loose all my morning's work from this COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE BUG!!

Win 7 CC23.0.1
I have just noticed this in Move Panel.
No matter what I type, it changes what I type after I tab or click another entry field.
This seems odd. What am I doing wrong here. I don't recall this, or remember any reason why I can't specify a value. What is the point of me entering a value if the app choose it for me?
I believe Transform Each works as expected, so I will use that. Very odd behavior that makes me wonder what else is off though. Which in turn, means I have to slow down and be more careful.
