Moving objects - error message "can't move the object"
I'm working with vectors and type. Since the update to CC2018, at random moments and in multiple files, I'll select a vector object and select some text, then try to move them, and I'll receive the error message "Can't move the objects. The requested transformation would make some objects too large". The problem is going to force me to revert back to the 2017 version of Illustrator - please make sure this is fixed ASAP. See attached screen grab.
We have tried to fix the issue in the current release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 22.1.
Please refer to our knowledge base FAQ – https://illustrator.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1844590 if you face difficulty in the update.
Warm Regards,
Ashutosh Chaturvedi | Sr. Quality Engineering Manager – Illustrator
Adobe. Make It an Experience.
PS: We are only referring to the issue that got introduced in CC 2018. As I can see there were few workflows that were existing even in older releases. Please log a separate request for it so that we all can track it better

The requested transformation would make some objects too largeI am also getting this message when trying to move objects. I am using AI 2022. I am at work and my project has a very tight deadline. I have tried several suggested fixes and none have worked. I have lost 1 hour. Please advise. Thank you.

Go into all of your layers and see if you have any guides, even hidden ones, and delete them.
I've had this error before and that was apparently what was causing it.

Hi there,
Please help. I am on the latest version of Illustrator. I have restarted my machine, uninstalled and reinstalled illustrator, but I am still getting the error message. I'm not sure what to do. Try and restart the files altogether?
Appreciate your advice.

Check what is inside of your clip group (it is, right?) Also check guides, they can be hidden inside of the group and prevent it from transforming.

Make sure while selecting your object you are not selecting the "guides". In my case guides were hidden and when i'm dragging and selecting the object my guides were also selected, that's why i'm getting this error.
1. Click "Ctrl + ;" to unhide the guides
2. Delete guides from layers and then select your object. As you can see in the screenshots:
1. In 1st screenshot my guides are hidden and i'm getting the error.
2. In 2nd screenshots the guide are show after pressing "Ctrl + ;" or View>Guides>Show Guides.
3. I have unhide the Guides from layer panel or delete them. After that i'm able to Drag my object.

This worked for me! Thank you so much! Finding this as an issue for most adobe packages. A lot of bugs still in 2019. 2018 works great currently!

It's unbelievable the amount of failures at every Adobe and Windows upgrade, someone needs to take some legal action.

I've updated to the latest, have to guides to clear. Why does this problem exist? Why should we even have to look for stray points or delete guides. This is a ridiculous problem.

I'm on CS6, it's point-remnants of guidelines I have deleted with a direct selection tool.
To fix this:
1. zoom out completely,
2. select the offending object to see the location of these points just at the edge of the workspace
3. ungroup it and delete them manually -

I am using version 22.1 as well and still the same problem. Really disappointed with this version of Ai, been using this software for more than a decade now and have never found it as cumbersome to use as these current versions in the last year or so. This is one of the most important software for many of us.

I have had this issue before but I realized it is caused by guides within a grouped object. For some reason the new Illustrator treats guides as artwork in some ways, making the object "too big" and even effecting the listed size of the object.
All you need to do is clear the guides in the group and it fixes it but the way AI handles this should be fixed.
