Files not saving correctly, reopens to older versions.
Twice this week I've saved files, closed them, and opened them later and my changes were not saved – illustrator opened way older versions of the files. What's weirder is one is a PDF, and the PDF shows the accurate file, but when I open it in illustrator it shows the old version.
I am glad to update that this issue was fixed in 24.0 release.
Thank you for all the feedback.

I just encountered this issue for the first time these past couple of days :( I'll save the file, but it reverts to the older version when I open it up. It's weird because the THUMBNAIL is right when I go to open the file, but then when the document ACTUALLY opens, it has reverted to an older version. This has happened to me two days in a row now and I HAVE the most up to date version of Illustrator. I'm uninstalling and reinstalling as suggested here, but I've now lost a whole day of work on something that has an impending deadline and I'm not happy about it.

Agreed on all counts. Absolutely unacceptable for Adobe not to address this issue sooner. It took me 3 attempts at support chats to get someone to actually give me this suggestion. Totally unacceptable and I've lost many hours of work because of this. Shame on you Adobe.

Sharon, i feel you pain. This issue caused my business to lose two sets of work amends, and cost us a day in time... plus we had to apologies to the clinet for not fulfilling our timescales.
made my business looks stupid by no fault of our own!

You know what wether they find a fix, or re-installing the application fixes the issue, a lot of us have had to live with this problem with Adobe telling us that they could not do anything about it because we could not replicate the issue while on the phone with them. This has wasted a lot of our time with not only with them but also workwise and in a few cases has left a bad taste in our customer's mouth with us as it has affected important deadlines. I think the least Adobe could do is compensate us for this. I have let a very important client down because of this issue! This is lost revenue for me. We are professionals here, this is our bread and butter and we are Adobe's bread and butter. Adobe should step up and at least make an effort to seem apologetic!

For those that are still having an issue, I was on another support chat with Adobe and they recommended uninstalling and reinstalling the application. Once I did that, it works as expected now. Hope this will help others.

i was on a far too long screen share with one support person, showing them what was happening. While they said the problem has been sent to developers I haven't seen any fix yet. I too have had many hours of work vanish because of this issue. For me it's only appeared with the current version 24.0.2, not any previous ones. Very frustrating that after the support call, i got an email saying this case is closed. WTF! Adobe, you need to fix this issue.

i am happy to show any dev person this BUG in real time via a screen sharing session - its causing us real problem - this is an absolute insane issue!! Can't believe this has slipped past testing.
I all honesty, there's loads of silly bugs in the new Ai! You've taken one of your bedrock Applications and totally messed it up - errors and bugs galore! HOW????

This is happening to us as well. On one PC out of two. It has been happening for about 18 months or so. Save a file, come back to it and most of the work is lost as the file has reverted to an older version.
This really needs to get fixed.

I just had the same issue. Saved over a file, worked on that file for a few days (saving regularly), closed the file and opened it two days later and now it changes to the file I originally saved over. Is there a fix for this?

This is ridiculous - I hit save, close and it reopens an old version. WHY???

Just had this problem crop up this past couple weeks on several PDFs. PDF looks fine when opening with Adobe Acrobat or previewing in file explorer, but when opening in Illustrator it shows the older version of the file.

My problem was resolved by resetting preferences. Hold option+command+shift when starting up the program.

I'm having a similar problem. While working in Illustrator or photoshop I "save as" a new file name, but instead updating the working document to the new file name, illustrator continues under the previous file name. I have to close the old file and open the new one in order to save changes to the new file and not continue overwriting the previous one.
