Artboards name disappear after renaming
After renaming an artboard in the panel, it will return to it's default name eg. , Artboard [x], instead of maintaining the new name.

Still happening here. Using 25.4.1.
Please fix this, saving several SVG files with wrong names although I gave them other names is quite annoying.

I have an Illustrator file with at least 50+ small artboards and I need each one to have a specific name. Illustrator keeps randomly changing the artboard names. I will look in the artboard panel, click away to another screen to get the artwork for the next artboard, click back to illustrator, look at the artboards panel and it's changed a few back to the default artboard names. It's random. Not always to the latest artboard added. Sometimes it's a few before. Sometimes it artboards I've already had to re-input the name on a few times. This is very annoying and infuriating. It's been happening for a few months and I keep hoping new updates will fix it. I've reset my preferences. Deleted and re-installed illustrator. Even recently had to reinstall everything on my MacBook.

This problem still persists in Illustrator v. 25.3.1
But all the other problems I am having with illustrator has also been going on for years.
They just don't listen... :-( -

Not a feature request but a bug report.
Some users confirm something like this happens from time to time. -

Random: When duplicating an artboard and changing the name from 'Artboard name copy' to 'new artboard name', click off and see the new name in place, then switch to layers and work, return to artboards and the name has reverted back to 'Artboard name copy'.
Other times: change artboard name, select rearrange all artboards, name changes back to copy name as I watch.
Other random times: name changes remain in place.
This is valuable to me because it's a real pain in the backside having to re-type artboard names multiple times. It's also valuable when I miss the name change because it stops me from easily finding exported art that I expect to have specific names and having to re-name when I finally find the exported art that I need.
This was a problem in past versions and it has returned. Unless this is intended for some reason that I can't fathom it would be nice to have it working properly again.
On Mac 10.15.7, Illustrator version 25.2.1.

this is first time to realise this bug. When i gave a new name of the artboard, it will be turned back to the old after shifting between different illustrator documents. I use the latest version of Adobe illustrator 2021.

Still having the same problem in Illustrator 25.1
Renamed 22 artboards in the artboards panel, saved file, closed file, reopened file only to find my custom names have reverted to generic artboard names.

Why was this ticket closed? This is still an issue in Ai CC 2020. Names appear fine in the artboard panel then I save for screens and the names are reverted to a previous name. Back to artboard panel and they are the new names. Totally inconsistent. save close, reopen, artboard names are reverted! Typing them in a second time seems to make them stick. Super annoying to repeat my work.

The first Artboard loses its title after entering it in the Artboards panel and reverts to "Artboard 1". Intermittent but frequent. I have not figured out a way to accurately reproduce but it happens often and is incredibly frustrating. Not new to v25--it has been an issue for years.

After downloading Big Sur, I've found when I name the artboards and then save the file, when I open it again the artboards have reverted back to not having a name just Artboard 01' etc.

When you rename the artboard, especially several at one time, the name will go back to the old one, even if you hit enter and save it. I usually notice this after I've exported artboards as PNGs and I get names with "copy" still in it or as the default artboard names.

Yes, this problem exist. After renaming artboard, saving, closing document and then opening it, artboard again named Artboard [x], and number after word "Artboard" increments by 1 after every saving-closin-opening procedure.

This is happening to me as well, it's been happening for a while actually. v24.2.3 on macOS Catalina 10.15.6.
It's very annoying. -

I've been having the same issue during (at least) the last couple of years. Now running Illustrator 24.2.3.
See the attached screenshot. The Illustrator UI displays two different names for the same artboard after I renamed it. The Artboard panel shows the new name I set, while the Properties panel displays the old name. Moreover, Illustrator exports the artboard using the old name, and also reverts completely to the old artboard name if I close and reopen the file.

When renaming an artboard that was just created, whether from scratch or as a copy of an existing one, it appears renamed in the "Artboards" panel but not on the actual artboard's label on the workplace (visible when the Artboard tool is selected).
When switching the "Artboards" panel off (for example by switching it to the "Layers" panel), and then opening it back, we can then see the old artboard's name and rename it again. Then only it will work.
This issue happens randomly and not necessarily on every artboard created.
I noticed a similar issue was reported and closed, so I'm opening a new one.
