Brush won't change to basic
When drawing in cc 2018 on macOS High Sierra version 10.13.4. Program will not allow me to select basic brush. it defaults to 3pt round or a bristle brush. If I delete that brush it won't allow to draw anything. Need to restart and still won't allow me to select basic brush.

Have the same issue. Why isn't there an answer on this question? Not being able to use basic brush is very, very annoying.

Similar issue. I've updated my system and uninstalled and reinstalled Illustrator. Also made sure it was the latest version of illustrator - it happens on the ellipse tool but not the rectangle. I have another computer and it doesn't have the problem.

this is extremely frustrating
i do manage to make the selection of basic brush stick, but it won't let me draw with it, the cursor turns in a circle with a slash symbol.

Same problem. Just started last week. Was hoping whatever gremlin crawled in my computer would leave over the weekend. No such luck.
Would love some help in figuring out how to fix this.
