Certain font styles are missing, like Montserrat Bold, Arial Bold, Myriad Condensed, etc.
I have ITC FrizQuadrata installed. This font family has 4 styles: normal, italic, bold and bold italic.
AI CC2017 does show all four.
CC2018 shows only one — 'ITC'.
It doesn't show it when you type family name, it doesn't show other styles in drop-down style list.
If I copy/paste text with needed font family style from 2017 to 2018, AI will show me two identical font names but two different preview near them (and again no italics).

Complimenti.

Do these vanish within one session or does it happen after you relaunch? Does this affect all the variable fonts at once or only some? Please share the details about the fonts affected and on the behavior in general.

Eu baixei uma família de fonte, e aos poucos as variações da fonte vão sumindo do meu acervo, começa sumindo a light, depois some a bold, e assim vai. Já é a terceira vez que tenho que baixar novamente.

Ryan, this seems to be a Type 1 font (judging by 23 screenshot). You hide file extensions, and these could have helped to tell for sure.
Adobe ceased to support this font format, starting with 23 of January: https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/kb/postscript-type-1-fonts-end-of-support.html
So it just shouldn’t work at all and I have no idea how it worked for you before 28.6. Perhaps you had 27.2 or earlier?Either way — won’t be fixed. You’d have to get an OpenType version of Helvetica, replace the font with Find Font, and resave the doc.
Another solution would be to downgrade back, but it’s a dead end. Although Some still use CS6! -

Running Windows 11 and Illustrator v 28.6. After updating Illustrator to v28.6 - when opening files created on this same PC, certain fonts do not appear in the Type menu, and a warning will be issued saying there are missing fonts (Helvetica Bold, in this particular case). Tried installing fonts in Adobe Fonts folder in Program Files, as suggested elsewhere, with no luck. The file in the attached image was created using this very system just a couple of weeks ago, now unable to edit.

The Montserrat font is experiencing synchronization issues, even though it is installed in Creative Cloud. It disconnects every time, while the other fonts remain normal. Please check the bug.
In the screenshot I am sending, you can notice that the Montserrat Semibold font is not appearing.

I opened an existing document, which used Quicksand in various weights. Now, with it opened via Illustrator 2023, all the weights have become one weight, ie light. There is nothing wrong with the Font, I am also using it in Indesign all the time, and it's working fine there. Please see screengrab, showing the PDF on the left (what it should look like) and Illustrator file on the right. The alert box only came up when I clicked on a text box, ie it wasn't there when i opened the document initially. Please help, this is a multi page document and I need to be able to use all the weights of this font!

It's the same sh** on windows and many other fonts.... 1.5 years later.
I don't even dare to open any of my old files. -

Same for Myriad Pro. Selecting Semibold or Bold makes text disappear.
Adobe products become more and more impossible to use. -

I often have some font sync issues.
Most of the time, if I deactivate an reactive the font family in fonts.adobe.com, it goes back to normal (annoying, but working at least).
Now that I have to work with Futura font, it just keep being not recognized at all on my Illustrator desktop app. It works fine on Illustrator iOS or Indesign. So the bug come from Illustrator desktop I guess. -

I have had a similar issue. I opened an older file and wanted to make sure I cleaned it up and organized the layers before handing it off to a translater. When I opened the file everything in Myriad Pro Condensed was missing. If I changed to condensed italic it appeared. I thought this must be an issue with the older file, so I created a new file, made a text box, selected Myriad Pro Condensed and the same issue occurred. I had to rework the whole project with condensed semibold and condensed black using tighter tracking. It took me a few hours when it should've taken me a few minutes.
I've attached screenshots of what the issue looked like. -

I've downloaded and activated the Agenda typeface family - 54 fonts.
Adobe Fonts website indicates this. The 'Find More' font menu within Illustrator indicates this. Extensis Suitcase Fusion indicates this.
However, only 53 fonts appear in application menus, Agenda Light is not available even though Adobe Fonts and Suitcase Fusion indicate it is.
I've restarted apps and rebooted my computer, Agenda Light is more evasive than Big Foot.
I've contacted support at Extensis to see if it is a Suitcase Fusion issue and/or if it is Adobe's issue.
Any idea of why this is happening? The attached ZIP file contains screenshots to refer to.
SIDE NOTE: when I click the 'Post Idea' button why doesn't the screen refresh or a prompt giving me notice that my comments were posted? Since nothing happened I posted twice and then had the sense to check 'My Feedback' to see if it actually posted - yes, twice. So I deleted one. Why not give a prompt like virtually every other website does?

Additional comments to Myriad font not functioning as expected: I recently went to Adobe Fonts and ensured that all Myriad fonts were active/enabled and then rebooted my computer.
I then opened up Suitcase Fusion and ensured all Myriad fonts in my Suitcase Fusion Font Library (my personal library) were deactivated and ensured all Myriad fonts in Third-Party Fonts/Adobe Fonts were activated permanently - refer to accompanying image (far-right panel).
I then opened up Bridge and highlighted a packaging file that clearly shows Myriad text (far-left panel).
Next, I opened the file in Illustrator and was faced with the same issue, Myriad Pro Condensed was garbled and some text is invisible but still selectable. When I use the text tool and hover over other Myriad Pro fonts the text updates as expected, there seems to be something wrong with the condensed version.
I am not looking forward to revisiting files that use Myriad Pro Condensed (and likely other weights that behave buggy) to adjust packaging layouts ... hours will be wasted!
Any ideas Adobe support on how to fix this (and why did this happen)?

Daniel MacLeod commented
Continuing to add to my previous comment since I don't see how to upload additional images:
I also use Suitcase Fusion and have Myriad Pro both in My Library and Adobe Fonts. I have enabled activation in My Library and deactivated in Adobe Fonts (and vice versa) and this issue is still not corrected.
Furthermore, Myriad Pro Condensed, even though activated, doesn't even appear in Photoshop's font list, why? Back in Illustrator, if I create a new text block and use Myriad Pro Condensed (and likely some other weights) the text is created but invisible.
There is clearly something wrong, and recently so, with Myriad Pro and how software treats it.
Adobe support, any insight into this issue?

I also experience this issue. I have many packaging files that have used the Myriad Pro typeface and the two fonts that always disappear are Myriad Pro Condensed and Myriad Pro Regular - most of the other fonts in this family appear as expected.
Like the other user has indicated, the text in Myriad Pro Condensed is still there, it just isn't visible, it can be selected and changed but going through documents to troubleshoot and change layouts that used Myriad Pro (with layouts changing to using another font) would require days of work.
I thought Adobe products were supposed to make us more efficient, not cause users to spend additional hours cleaning up past work in order for it to function correctly with new Adobe updates.
You'll notice in the attached image, far-left, the Nutrition Facts panel has missing Myriad Pro.

Hi Brian.
Can anybody please help with Brian's question. I have the same issue. I've tried multiple svg export options but get either bloated svg (and lose other formatting). Removing the "MT" in a secondary cleanup is not helping. Any ideas?

I opened up an Illustrator file that I update yearly. The text is all in Myriad Pro, in a variety of styles. The section of text that was in Myriad Pro Condensed completely disappeared. The text line was still there, but when I typed nothing appeared. Changed the style to any other style (regular, bold, bold condensed and I can type it in, but if I change it back to condensed it disappears again.
