Can't finish previewing. Could not complete the requested operation.
I applied a pattern to a stroke by accident and received this error. I'm using v25.0.1 on a PC with 16 gb RAM and a dedicated graphics card.

Same issue here. I was reading all the messages last week, and I solved my problem with going back on previous version. I will work on that one until they fix this issue.

Exact same issue here. Error happens about every 10 minutes after opening a file. Illustrator is unusable in this condition.

Same issue here. Extremely annoying, I need to restart Illustrator about three times per hour. Not workable. Going back to CC2018.

So disappointing for a such big application that has been released without any bug testing, which affected thousands of users around the world!

After working for a while in Illustrator (perhaps a little under an hour) doing not very taxing graphics, the preview turns off and defaults to outline. Attempts to turn the preview back on fail with an alert complaining that the app has run out of memory. Activity Monitor confirms that Illustrator is using considerable memory, typically well into 2 Gb. Workaround is to save the document, quit and restart.

I'm also facing the similar problem "not enough memory" then the preview turns into outline mode. However, I'm able to save the open files. Have to restart the Illustrator to continue my work. Specs of my machine: 13" MacBook Pro Early 2013 + 16GB Ram.

I guess I'm just like many here, I updated in the middle of a client project. Now I apparently don't have enough ram to open my files, which is so not true. Please fix this ASAP, my job is on the line and I don't have time for this.

Having used Illustrator since 1987, I have seen some earlier versions that would occasionally behave this way, but never as a chronic problem. I'd been using v23 for a week or two but did not experience this problem intil today. Also, the files that had been affected disappeared from my directory, but I restored from Time Machine drive and got back to work with v22.
Now I just need toget the time to figure out why my 7-month old iMac has slowed to a crawl--RAM seems intact. Disk 1st Aid says no problems. Any suggestions for a good reliable diagnostic & repair app?

Gary, in the excitement of having a shiny new version of Illustrator, I did the very same thing mid-project. You think I would know better by now. Anyways, I reinstalled v22.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Manage -> Other Versions) and I'm back to being operational once again. I was even able to open and edit the files I created with v23. Hope that helps.

This is a nightmare. Now enough memory message then menu at top is greyed out. Even the simplest files freeze. I have enough memory and ram on my mac. Of cause this is in the middle of a project for one of our clients. Any solutions so I can get my work done?
Thank you,

This problem has happened at least four times in the past 24 hours since downloading AI 2019 for me. I'm surprised and really disappointed Adobe would release a version with such a huge bug.

Same Problem, multiple crashes with very simple files. Windows 10, 96 GB of RAM. This machine is a graphics workstation, so it has firepower to spare... This memory trap, or whatever it is... well its making me angry...
