Bullets and Numbering characters disappear when outlining font

As per my title - If I use bullets and numbering in a text box, when I outline the text in the text box the bullets and numbering completely disappear.

    Illustrator 2024 (Beta) (28.7.0 #65)
    I confirmed the bug is fully fixed; it didn't occur with an older file version.

    The issue is not reproducible in build 28.6. Kindly update once it's available.

    This glitch caused massive embarrassment to myself as the designer and the record company who printed 2000 copies of a release that the numbered bullets had disappeared on. Absolutely disgraceful that the adobe team knows about this and hasn’t fixed it. I am in danger of losing this client or paying the costs of a rerun.

    Where do I make a formal complaint?

    Actions:
    Command + A
    Command + O

    Edit -> expand does not reproduce the behaviour.
    note that even a duplicated textbox of the exact same content behaves differently.

    Issue follows from file to file where a textbox is copied and pasted.

    OSX 13.4.1 (22F82)
    English/USA

    Illustrator 28.4.1.

    Have quit/reopened illustrator.

    Note that adding a hard return (paragraph break) at the start of the text box fixes the issue.

    Yes, this happened to me AGAIN the other day, and my client was on a print deadline. Really made things awkward for me as I had to dash back from a meeting, re-do the file and re-send the corrected file to print. I don’t think Adobe realise (or care) how many problems these issues cause.

    This has happened again for me in 28.4.1 when outlining fonts to create a PDF for print.

    I still had this problem when I outlined the artwork for the print shop, and I didn't notice until they sent the poof back to me. I am using the most updated Ai v28.5 with macOS Sonoma 14.4.1

    My client just found this out with the Outlined numbered list digits. Select Command +A, and select outlined fonts. Numbered list numbers and bullet points disappear. Latest version Illustrator on Mac 14.2.1.

    Before giving the final file to the printer, when I expand appearance and then outline the whole document using Ctrl+A and Ctrl+Shift+O, the bullets before the sentence vanishes which I have used in the artboard.

    I used Auto Text Bullets in illustrator, when i convert text to outline bullets disappear, attaching image for clear understanding. Please fix it is very dangerous specially for book printers.

    I have confirmed. This bug has been occurring since v27.1.

    Hi Egor,

    I agree with this slightly outdated post. I was able to establish a means of reproducing it on a Japanese forum. I'd like you to try the following procedure.

    1. close the document containing the burette list once.
    2. reopen the document.
    3. select the text with bullet list, and create an outline without moving it, editing it, etc.

    Also, I was curious about the CS comment and verified it. I am using macOS.
    It says that you have to restart Illustrator, but I have seen different results depending on how you start the application.
    - launch the Illustrator first and then open the document, the above bug is reproduced.

    - If you launch the Illustrator by double-clicking the ai file, the above bug is avoided.

    I think this's a very dangerous specification. I hope it will be improved soon.

    2. Reproduction procedure
    Create bulleted or numbered lists at new document.
    Save data.
    Open that file. Select a text object and outlines the font.

    3. Desired results
    Bullets characters, Numbering characters, and all text outlining.

    4. Actual results
    Bullets and Numbering characters disappear!

    Happening to me as well (I'm using the bullets style panel). Very annoying. I have to quit Illustrator, restart every time I need to outline text so bullets don't disappear.

    Hi Egor
    I've just opened the file up to save it for you and, typically, the project is outlining fine now!
    If it happens again I'll try and save it out or video.
