"Apply to All" checkbox or "Replace All" button are missing AGAIN
Apply to All option for missing/replacing links is missing again in version 28.5. Now instead of being able to click that and replace all links I know have to do the relink step up to 30 times every print file.

Hello all,
The 'Apply to all' checkbox has been brought back in the Replace missing link dialogue.
'Apply to all' checkbox was removed when we introduced the 'Auto-relink' (search for missing links in this folder) functionality, as we though 'auto-relink' is going to take care of the 'replace all' workflow as well. But it didn't work as expected in few cases as pointed out by some of you.
Hence, with the latest release V29.2 (full roll out happens on Jan 9), we have decided to revert to the earlier experience whereby we are bringing back 'apply to all' checkbox and rolling back the 'auto-relink functionality.
Because of conflicts, both of these functionality cannot co-exist unless we make some significant changes to the relinking experience.
As we understand, 'replace all' was a important workflow for most of you, so we decided to quickly bring it back while working on the overall link panel revamp which is going to take sometime.
Thanks

ok the Apply to All is back but it's still NOT an ideal workflow: the ideal is the way Indesign works: where I can click on a link in the side panel, click on relink, choose a new file and check "apply to all" if I want all the instances to be changed. Simple, InDesign has it, WHY is Illustrator so backward?
Now in Illustrator if I have a linked image used 20 times in the file, I first need to modify the link name to something else so Illustrator prompts me with the “some files are missing or modified in the Links panel. Would you like to update them now?”
Only THEN, in the next warning screen that says “Could not find the linked file ***” you can click on Replace and check the famous APPLY TO ALL tickbox.
Why is it not possible to avoid this fake-name-change in the first place?? Why is it not possible to have the InDesign behaviour/interface? Please copy your own code from your sister software, it really cannot be THIS hard?? -

The latest release is finally here! This function works exactly as it did before and we are all very happy to finally be able to update Illustrator. Thank you for adding this much needed function back!

This is wonderful! I tried it in the new Beta version and it works as expected!
However, I still don't see an update for the full version 29.2 yet. When is this going to be available? -

Glad to see we have this function back. V29.2 is not showing up as an available download in Creative Cloud. Supposed to be released yesterday. Is there another option for uprgrading?

Version 28.4.1 has a major bullet point and type on path bug. I'm asking for Adobe create another patch for 28 to bring it back. We can't quite upgrade to 29 yet.

Josh, I don't think so, but you can install an older version of Illustrator: 2023 (28.4.1), a version that still has the Apply to All option:
In the Creative Cloud app select Apps > All Apps > Illustrator > click the 3 dots … next to the Open button > click Other Versions and select 28.4.1. Click Install. -

Can we get it patched out of version 28 too?

please bring back apply to all checkbox to relink files. I cannot leave 28.1 until it is brought back. Please !!

Chris that does not work when you need to relink it to a different file name.

I found a simple workaround for this.
If you select multiple files that need to be changed out, then click "Relink."
In the Finder window, there will be an option to "Search for missing links in this folder."
Selecting this will relink all the missing files in one go, instead of one by one. :)

don't seems very simple to download a previous version, I don't find in cloud,
however I have found a solution with a alternative software that has the functions that illustrator miss. -

How can I install an older version of iIllustrator ?
At the moment I have 29.1 installed -

If I have 20 versions of the same image that I need to be linked to a different image I have to replace it 20 times. This is such and obvious feature to have and unacceptable that it was removed. Also saving over the current linked image is NOT an option in a production environment. Put this back in the missing link pop up or make it an option when relinking through the Links window (as it should have always been there anyways).

Enrico - version 28.4.1 still has the replace all box, and you are able to download multiple versions at the same time

Can anyone tell me which version of illustrator maintains the replace to all box, and if possible use it at the same time as the latest version of illustrator?

Please repair this tool and provide accurate information about how pre-press workers use your tools. It's not all about "creativity"; we also need practicality to do our jobs. Thousands of users are paying to use an old version of Illustrator.

Still no fix for this. This is ridiculous! The entire pre-press team is using an old version of Illustrator from before this was removed. There is no point in using the new version with new features when it adds HOURS of work everyday! This is such a simple fix on Adobe's end, just put back the feature you removed. How hard is this??
