Pencil tool preview not showing
Hello, in illustrator 29.4 and 29.5 (on windows 11 pro) I can't preview the path while i am drawing with the pencil tool. I checked all the settings and everything is set to see it. I had to downgrade to illustrator 29.2 to use it again

Hi All,
This is fixed and is available now in beta. Please check and share your observations.

@retoid, it’s not in 29.7.1, but it IS fixed in Beta. I assume it should land in 29.8 when it gets fully rolled out.

29.7.1 and this issue still persists. Bummer.
Seems Adobe's focus is purely on implementing Artificial Intelligence tools which contributes to killing authentic human creativity. Sad days. -

@Egor
"The problem I see though — with this combinations of options and appearance, the newly drawn path is invisible while being drawn.
I think Ai should fall back temporarily to displaying the edge line in cases like these, making sure we still see the path (as if we see one with Live Preview unchecked).
The team is aware of this, and your comment hopefully will help to get this fixed — thanks."This is exactly the issue I was trying to explain. Thank you

@retoid, this is what’s happening.
Your Pencil options say 'Don’t fill new pencil strokes'.
When you have a shape with black fill and no stroke selected, as soon as you start drawing, Ai removes the fill — and it never had stroke in the first place — so the line gets neither stroke or fill — and this is what you are getting.Unlike Brush tool, that uses a fill’s color to make it into a stroke’s color automatically, Pencil tool is used by many to draw objects with fill only, that’s why no transferring happens. What do you expect to get in this case? To have the black stroke? Please comment.

29.8 Issue still persists in both Stable Release and Beta.

I see! It is indeed a bug, and I confirm the behavior. It should not work like this for sure.
Thanks for the patience, Rayan! -

Hello Egor, as i said the first time, all the settings are set so it should work. I guess I am actually reporting a bug. I did not changed settings or whatever before this happening.
I think your question about the stroke fill irrelevant as the preview of the path is independent of it. I don't want to set a stroke to use the pencil. I don't want a shaky solution like "just fill the stroke so you can see it". In the video attached I change the shape of a letter so why should I need to first fill the stroke to use a tool I used normally before the 29.4 update. You can see how hard it is to edit simple shapes without the preview :/
I just updated again to 29.5.1 and the issue is still there by the way.
I had to downgrade illustrator to 29.2 at work so I can use the pencil tool as before, with the preview of the path while drawing. I think it's just a software issue with the updates and that's why I report the bug

Thanks for sharing the video. We will try this at our end.

Rayan - is it possible for you to attach a video depicting the issue happening at your end?
