Adjustment of a gradient in Live Paint Bucket (K)
In Illustrator CC2019 the Adjustment of a gradient in Live Painting Bucket (K) does not work.
When in Live Painting Bucket (K) i apply the gradient, then i can not adjust it manually.

Hi Everyone,
The fix has been rolled out and is available in our latest release build – 29.3.0 which is available worldwide now.
Illustrator will now allows to change gradients of the Live Paint selections, using Gradient tool.
The annotator won’t show up when you do this, but you will see the changes immediately if you have GPU Preview and Real-Time Drawing and Editing options enabled in Preferences.
What’s new in 29.3: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback.

While these can indeed be adjusted now, the annotator is still missing.
I suppose it requires more hacking to make it work, but still I’d like to see the controls on canvas, to tweak the look and not remaking it from scratch each time.New idea from comment

Just tried it. I am very happy that it finally works after more than 6 years!

Just tried (Beta 29.4. downloaded 1/28 on a MBP with macOS 15.0.1; GPU preview and RT drawing and editing enabled). I am still not able to edit the gradients in LP selections w/ gradient tool (either with the LP bucket or with the LP selection tool /gradient tool).
EDIT: Sorry! Yes, it does seem to be working now! Thank you!

Over one year after the last post about this, and still not resolved to my knowledge. Just adding my comment to add that I wish this was fixed. :)

Tell me, Isael :) The frustration and the desire to have better tools is what motivates me here. Sometimes I feel an extreme rage, and some of my messages are even more venomous. Argh! It's completely OK to discuss it, and no offence is ever taken.
Perhaps I should have phrased the status differently, to avoid confusion...
As for importance options — no control whatsoever over these, since it's a standard UV's choices.
Having Live Paint in Inkscape would be nice to have as an alternative (it always is), but I doubt it's an easy challenge. Requires a lot of math and familiarity with Beziers. I'd not venture into it myself.
And CS5 is impossible to legally purchase, true :( -

I kinda thought you were a developer when you said ' back to work on this', sounding like if you were speaking first person. Now my problem is that i have hard time trying to find old version of cs5 online, as i suspect Adobe asked for removal of their older products on e-bay and Amazon. Or users just sold all of them for maybe this kind of reason (having old feature being scrapped on newest live version). Will probably need to download a cracked version on another pc to check for viruses firsthand, etc..... One just cannot imagine how horrific and time consuming it is, as you can see , i could nearly write a whole book on this. Nearly 1500$ spent on license over the years when i would prefer a dated 60$ version?
This is frustrating to the point of me thinking about using my good old coding skills and freely help Inkscape create their own live paint tool to compete with adobe illustrator and massively advertise the free software to get a max percentage of your users switch.
I am sorry , here again, you receive my anger and i know it's not your fault, but you are the closest person revolving around adobe's universe that i know of, so i need to harness my bad feeling and redirect them toward this closest point of contact, fleshed by your being. It's either that or beating my neighbors to death. Lol. Ok i am kidding but still it's not funny !
Meanwhile, you should add a fourth option for voting called 'extremely critical' that would count for 70 regular votes....

Isael, sadly, it's not me who makes these fixes. The very little I can do here is to change the status back to 'unfixed' (and I did) and make a report to the team (which I made). Alas, 'an administrator' is not 'a developer' :( it's up to product managers to make decisions on what to pick for fixing, and UserVoice is a tool they use to prioritize things, among other reasons.

Yes problem still exists and is more than annoying.... More than a year since the admin say he'll get back on this. Actually trying to find old version of adobe creative suite cs5 just to have this feature working.

Related to a problem with resetting a stroke of an object inside of a Live Paint objects when you try to use Gradient tool to edit the fill (and with no useful result, as this report states): https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/45342700

Maybe not ideal, but a workaround that's working for me is to use the pathfinder Divide function, then ungroup the selection. Gradients can then be applied at any angle to the individual pieces of the design (as they once could using livepaint).

Live paint is probably the most powerful tool in AI and is what makes it worth paying around 30$ CAD monthly rather than using Inkscape for example. Having the gradient annotator not working in newest version and being stucked miserably for years, coming back once in a while then returning to out of order again, really makes me want to resign membership or look for an old free version of Illustrator. Really. You guys keep on adding new features and brag about those new things when the basics are being screwed meanwhile. It's costing my boss (and me by the side) a lot of time and money wasted in productivity, as i have to break live paints to chunks and work over each single pieces, but then i lose original model and if i want to make changes on the go it's **** . Really on the verge of rage quitting whenever i find a substitute somewhere !

Is this still not working? I am still using 2018CC and have turned off auto update. I DO NOT want to update only to find this issue unresolved. AI defaults to laterst version and then I have to dump the new version get the old version from Adobe and reinstall....THAT IS MY WORK AROUND THIS SOLVED PROBLEM!

Can someone from the Illustrator team describe what exactly they thought the issue was, and what exactly they fixed?
The issue as I understand it is that it is not possible to use the gradient annotator in a live paint group. This is the case in 25.4.1

Gradients in live paint objects can't be edited with the gradient tool in Illustrator CC 25.3.1. Would love to be able to edit them. I've seen some videos years back where it worked...An admin said it was fixed in 24.0.2 as well. Is it broken again?
