There are now several separate requests made, based on the feedback in this thread:
1. Regarding adjustable color and opacity for 3D shadows:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47054086
2. Regarding presets for each tab in 3D and Materials panels: Object, Materials, Lighting:

All those who commented on the topic until October 16, 2023, are already added as voters there. If this is something you want to have for 3D and Materials in Illustrator — please upvote it. If possible — create new requests and bug reports about 3D, rather than commenting here inside. This will help the team to better prioritize efforts on making the feature better. As always — thanks for the feedback! It helps.

Adobe. Make It an Experience. An error occurred while saving the comment Ray Cabarga commentedThis has not been fixed. The handles are nearly impossible to grab and it has brought my business to a halt. My system software and adobe software are completely up to date as of Jan. 2022. This issue arises due to problems with Apple's graphic rendering pipeline on older versions of macOS and has been resolved by Apple in macOS 13 and above. We request you to update your macOS to13 and above to fix this issue.
An error occurred while saving the comment Ray Cabarga commentedMy operating system is Mac Monterey 12.1
My Illustrator version is 26.0
Please open the file attached to see the details.
This is very serious and costing me a lot of money as I can't get my work done in the current state of Illustrator.
The steps I was taking were: trying to use the pen tool as I have since Illustrator 88 through every subsequent version.
The attached file is a PDF so you should be able to open it in Illustrator.

As per the comment, this can happen due to the accidentally hiding the edges with Cmd/Ctrl + H hotkey (View > Show/Hide Edges).
Please check if this helps and comment back if it does not.

If tweaking the Preferences > User Interface > UI Scaling slider does not help to solve this problem, please make some screenshots or a short video of the problem, and post in a reply, along with your exact specs for the OS and the monitor used, for the team to try to reproduce it.
An error occurred while saving the comment Ray Cabarga commentedVarun I don't have that slider. I'm on uPdater 24.something and frankly I can't afford to update because each update gets progressively worse.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.3.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!
An error occurred while saving the comment Ray Cabarga commentedThe problem, Ankit, is that the bugs are cropping up faster than you can fix them. I don't know whose idea it was for the tools to move around all the time. It is essential that a worker knows where his tools are but you move them around randomly it seems. I can't find anything in my toolbar because they move or disappear then I go to add it back and everything shifts down a position so I'm lost again. The way the menus attach and collapse and connect to each other is maddening. Go back to how it used to be and get some actual artists to help you make the program work for artists not coders.

Hello,
We have started working on the tech that allows us to enable the following:
- Ability to convert the outlined/expanded text back to live text.
- Ability to lock objects to a character/glyph of a live text, allowing users to change the text (properties) while the object stays locked into the character.
As we work through the complexities of handling different font families, font size, and other font properties, we would love to meet with you and share our thinking around it and understand :
- Your use cases and workflows that this feature will help you with.
- What is most essential for you.
- The workarounds that you currently use to achieve this.

An error occurred while saving the comment Ray Cabarga commentedSelect outlined type or a photo of a typeface (rasterized type and the app matches it to the nearest similar font in the library. It could offer several options but it will never say "sorry no similar font found." You could even draw a character and it would find the closest font to it.
This is valuable to anyone in production who is asked to make changes to outlined or rasterized type or when the client doesn't provide the font name (which they never do) or the client says "can you use Buscemi Bold and you don't have it. it will find something close enough. I worked in an art department where we spent several hours per week trying to match fonts. This feature would have saved a lot of time.

I don't think you guys understand the purpose of vectors. the reason i use .ai is so the output is fully scalable and it can be expanded and taken apart. all you've done is put a little raster window in a vector world. You can't use it as a vector because it's not a vector anymore. The 3D classic was getting there but instead of fine-tuning it so it worked right you gave up and stuck this weak photoshop code in there. These are not vectors. The renderings are unpredictable and look bad. There's nothing good about this feature. Years ago there was a plugin for illustrator called "Be Infinite" It was amazing. Back then Illustrator was a great tool and with Be Infinite you could do anything! Quickly. you've made this program slower, buggier, and harder to work with than the earliest versions of illustrator. I think you decided to make it for beginners but you keep adding useless features. And trying to trick us into putting our personal files in your cloud. in this latest update, you say you can change colors in real time. We could already do that! that's not a new feature! Step and repeat? That's one of the most basic functions and you think you invented a new feature!!! Learn what illustrator can do already before you try to improve it! I don't think you have anyone there who actually draws with illustrator because you keep making it harder to work in production. Plus these long delays and lags make it impossible to meet deadlines!
