1. Hide Numbers Option for Dimension Tool

   Hello,

   I'd like to add the hide option for the numbers. I'm actually doing a floor plan, I want people to input by hand the numbers they see on the design by measuring with the real dimensions and have to hide the numbers by adding a shape over the numbers so people won't get confused with the numbers.

   I think it can come handy also for maths teachers for example, when they want to edit their drawing with a version for students and one for solutions. they can also edit with flying text with X, Y, Z or else for their subjects without having to cover the numbers artificially with a with rectangle.

2. "Multiple Record Layout" data merge feature.

   I love the "Multiple Record Layout" data merge feature in InDesign. However my merged documents are often opened in Illustrator by the end user to make changes. Currently my client wants a full vector file for laser cutting shapes with custom etched names. They do not translate well with strokes becoming their own object and lines of text disconnecting. The idea to data merge 200+ names in IN makes perfect sense, but in this case the client asked they be done in AI and each name and custom info needs to be brought in by hand manually one name at a time. Will the data merge feature be enhanced to be able to put multiple records on one artboard, and have better formatting features?

3. When snapping to a point please take edges of object into consideration

   "When snapping to a point, the snapping alignment depends on the position of the pointer, not the edges of the dragged object." -- A. Illustrator

   ...but if I could put my pointer exactly where I need it in order to get the edge of an object exactly on the margin, what's the point of the snap to feature? That is a pain in the butt. And really hard to do. I need the option of snapping the edges of the object to the margin. Spart guides do not help.

4. Font style not applying correctly

   Using the character window.
   When trying to alter pre-typed text, changing using Font Family menu in character window works, but changing using Font Style menu does not (the window states that it has changed, but the preview does not show the change)

   Operating System: Mac OS 11.4

   I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 26.0.0 which is available worldwide now.

   Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

5. Uniform dashes at end of paths

   It would be great to have uniform dashes at the end of paths when
   "Aligns dashes to corners and path ends, adjusting lengths to fit" is on.

   Currently we seem to get half sized dashes with this option on

6. Ai Feels Old and Unintuitive Next to New Adobe Products

   Illustrator feels old. I find myself trying to do more and more vector work in XD or Photoshop simply because Ai feels like something from the 90s. There is very little consistency in how things work in Ai versus the other adobe apps. Swatches from CC are endlessly frustrating. Too many tools appear to do the same thing slightly differently. The app seems to assume everything will eventually be printed.
   I know this is very general, but perhaps a new vector creation tool is needed in the lineup. I've tried Draw and Sketch on the iPad but they also feel lost in the past. What I need is an app that lets me quickly create and manipulate shapes, text, and paths. Ai is just too cumbersome.

7. Feedback on New Snap to Glyph(s) Functionality (Released)

   New Glyph snapping feature is available in Beta now.

   Snap to glyph(s) allows quick and precise alignment around contours of live text without the need of creating outlines or reference guides. You will see smart snapping guides for words and a line by default. You can also enable a single glyph mode by right-clicking on the targeted glyph.

   We have tried to provide as many important smart guides as possible without cluttering the workspace. We would love to hear your candid feedback. Please provide your feedback on this thread. 8. Remove units from input boxes

   When editing a value in an input box, e.g. the width of an artboard, the unit (px) is still included in the box. This makes it harder to hit the right spot in the text with your mouse, and makes it more prone to error. It's especially annoying when performing arithmetic!

   Trying to avoid this situation: "306 p+34x"

9. Full Window Crosshairs (always on option)

   I would like to see an option for full window crosshairs/X&Y guides always intersecting at the cursor point. It is difficult to explain but I have attached a mock up image. This would act similar to the guides when dragging and aligning objects.

10. Do not change the order of characters in the Glyphs panel

    Problem Description:
    If I've highlighted a character, and choose a different variation of that character in the Glyphs panel, the newly chosen variation moves to the left of the glyphs, changing the order of all the glyphs. This is really annoying. If, instead of the order of the glyphs changing, the blue highlight just moved on to the selected glyph, that would be far less confusing.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Select a character in some text
    2. Open the Glyphs panel to see the variations of that character
    3. Select a different variation

    Actual Result:
    The ordering of the variations of that character changes in the Glyphs panel so the currently chosen variation is on the left

    Expected Result:
    Order should remain, and the blue highlight should move.

11. Retain original, unexpanded art for pattern swatches.

    "This pattern contains active content (symbols, effects, etc, it's a long list) that must be expanded to create a swatch. If you edit the pattern again, the expanded content will no longer be active."

    There's a lot of clever, well-paid people at Adobe. I bet someone there can figure out how to store the original pattern art along with the expanded pattern art, and edit the former rather than the latter when I double-click on the pattern swatch. I have workarounds for this but they are tedious and annoying ones.

    Also I would like to thank whoever wrote the dialogue text I quoted, it would have been so easy to just say that the pattern contains Forbidden Art and leave me to figure out exactly what triggers the warning.

12. Shift + click on menu items (File, Edit, Object, etc) w/o closing menu after click

    Whenever I use the menu items (File, Edit, Object, Text, Select, Effects, View, etc) sometimes you go into a submenu, and select one option, e.g:
    1. Go to View Menu
    2. Select Perspective Grid sub-menu
    3. Select Hide guides
    4. Go to View Menu (again)
    5. Select the Perspective Grid sub-menu (again)
    6. Find and click my option (eg. "Snap to guides")

    Now if I could for example "shift+click" to keep the menus open after the click:
    1. Go to View Menu
    2. Select Perspective Grid sub-menu
    3. Shift+click "hide guides"
    4. Click "snap to grid" (without shift when I don't need it open anymore)

    It gets shorter, more efficient, and sometimes menus content is hard to memorize, so having the option to keep it open would make it quicker too.

13. The ability to save a direct selection

    Sometimes geometric transformations require a complex selection of certain vertices on one or more objects. Losing the selection because of a misclick is so common and frustrating... One should be able to save current selection to recall it if lost. This little buffer can be really very temporary, i.e. stop working if object topology has changed in the meantime. It would already prevent frustration on many occasions.

    Illustrator allows to save, load and managed partial and full  selection with Select > Save / Edit Selection commands.

    UI is archaic, but it does the thing you want.

    I edit assignments, quizzes and exams, with musical scores in Illustrator, and add YouTube link symbols to them. For these links to work I have to open the PDF in Acrobat and insert the web links there. But if I later want to edit some text, object, or image and I open it in Illustrator, I lose all the links configuration.

15. The Ability to Compound by Color

    Take an object or line of text that has been converted to outlines, put an offset path on it, make that new outline a different color than the original object. Now the requested feature would be the ability to drag select the entire object and offset path, then select "Compound By Color" and it will make all colors selected into their own compound path.

16. SVG Import Notification and/or debug log

    Short back story: My company is an online supplier of custom printed products. Customers design their order on our website which we translate into an SVG file. Our production team imports that SVG file into AI for final processing of the customers order.

    When importing SVG files to AI sometimes entire parts of the design are not imported without any notification or log of the event.

    For example, when our production team imports SVGs where the text contains an emoji we sometimes (maybe always?) find that the entire text block is no longer included in the design. This is not obvious and it requires going back and comparing the import to the original JPG rendering to notice a difference.

    Much more transparency from Adobe on how SVG importing works in general would be greatly appreciated. Right now it's incredibly painful to debug import issues.

18. Keep link when placing DXF/DWG file

    Could it be possible to keep the link to the original file when placing a DXF or a DWG in Illustrator?
    The goal is to be able to update the view if the external file change...
    having the geometry active like it's done for text glyph in order to be able to snap to geometry could be the cherry on the cake.

19. Select all the value at once

    Is it possible when clicking on a value such the shape, dimensions or text height etc. to select all the value so it can be replaced faster. Right now I have to delete the values number by number or select all with Ctrl-A then delete.
    It would be appreciated if you have the option to select all when clicking on it.
    It will save a lot of time.

20. Ability to rotate an image 90 degrees when exported for screens

    Having the ability to rotate an image 90 degrees when exported for screens would save a step when saving some art for the web.

    Some artwork with text is saved built so the type is horizontal for ease of typing/reading. Current exports require the art to be built and then rotated 90 degrees in Photoshop.

    The ability to rotate saves a step.
    It is a small nice improvement for Illustrator.
