Radial Array Feature (akin to AutoCAD)
I know there's a workaround whereby one can accomplish this, or nearly so, with the rotate/copy function; however, the implementation is somewhat inelegant, especially for new users who might not be aware of the 360/x syntax. It has been a number of years since I have used CAD, but I recall the Polar Array command being much more full-featured and am struck that AI still doesn't have a better way to do this. In point of fact, a liner array wouldn't be a bad addition, either, and would save the headache of trying to do it with patterns or aligns.

1 voteIt does not work exactly like Polar Array in AutoCAD, but recent Radial Repeat is very much similar to this function you wanted. the main difference you do not specify a circle before, but after you generate an array.

Display Tablet : Wacom CINTIQ 22HD VS XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro REVIEW
Hello everyone, I'm an Illustrator user, I usually use the Adobe Illustrator, Evernote, Dropbox software and tasks. Mostly Illustrator on my display drawing tablet.
CINTIQ 22HD
I know there are a lot of people who are looking for Cintiq alternatives as Wacom's tablets are expensive. I had been wanting a Cintiq for years but never really thought they were worth all that money. However, after I had a chance of using Cintiq 22HD for a few days, I came to realize that drawing on a display tablet is far quicker and more enjoyable than doing it on non-display tablets.
SO, NOW I WANTED A DISPLAY TABLET TOO FOR TWO REASONS:1.Drawing on a display tablet was far more enjoyable than drawing with graphic tablets (like my Deco 01).
It felt like I was actually drawing on paper.2.The higher precision and accuracy = I noticed I wasn't using the "undo" on Cintiq 22HD as much = less hours spent per painting.
CINTIQ 22HD WAS GOOD BUT IS IT WORTH $1600?Although the drawing experience was really good (feels like Intuos but more precise!) on Cintiq 22HD, I still didn't think it was worth $1600. It's a 2012 model and the display was nothing spectacular considering the price. If the display was a higher quality and the tablet was slimmer, I would be dreaming of having one myself even at that price point. Anyways, I looked into cintiq alternatives and the closest thing seemed to be XP-Pen's newest model, Artist 22E Pro.
XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro
I ordered and had XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro display tablet for a day.
It's been only a day but I already have a love and hate relationship with it...
Here are the Pros and ConsPRO's:
1.More affordable than Cintiq 22HD (although it's still not that cheap $899 / $799 until May 31)
2.Screen temperature stays REALLY COOL (OMG I LOVE) vs Cintiq 22HD gets a little warm
3.IPS Panel (wide view angles) and anti-glare coating's really good. (Cintiq 22HD's is grainy)
4.Almost no lagging felt when drawing (14ms = same as Cintiq 22HD)
5.Slimmer and smaller than Cintiq but has 21.5 inch screen (same as Cintiq 22HD)
6.Parallax better than or similar to Cintiq 22HD
7.Pen accuracy, sensitivity on point (except for the area close to the edges)
8.Easy to use and install
9.Sharp, good colors
CON's: [UPDATE: I am told that these two issues are solved with recent XP-Pen drivers update]1.Display is not sharp (texts, image edges, lines are soft when they need to be sharp and clear)
2.Lower pressure sensitivity levels (1%-20%) I feel like are not that accurate. I needed to put a little more force for the nib to register anything and that results in e.g. 20% opacity when I wanted 10%.
3.Pen Batteries: You need to recharge pens. Not really a huge con for me because they give you two pens.
4.No tilt on pen: not a big deal for me. Just mentioning for information as some people do care about this function.Other notable info:
1.Color Gamut: standard (advertised as an "amazing" display). It covers 72%~78% sRGB. Just a standard. It's not really a con or a pro I guess.
2.No pen stand: their site says they give you a pen stand. I only found a pen case.
3.Adj. buttons on the display are stiff but you don't need to use them often once everything's set.
4.Something about the way the pen nib works: related to the con I mentioned; I just didn't like the way it felt. The nib's a little bulky and doesn't feel good
when doing detailed, light strokes. Depending on what kind of drawing you do, you may not even notice this.*I wrote no pen calibration in the image but the driver does have it I just missed it. However, that doesn't change my opinion on the lower pen pressure levels!
SO, MY CONCLUSION IS:
1.XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro display tablet is a pretty good alternative to a Cintiq with some better aspects (thin bezels, better parallax, 21.5 inch screen etc.)
2.BUT! There are two major issues that made me return it. The pressure sensitivity was not up to my expectations. Maybe I am just used to Wacom pens but I felt like it's a little awkward when I needed precise strokes for details. Secondly, the display is not sharp (it's too blurry. It could be because of the anti-glare coating). Therefore this is a great display tablet for:
-people who have never experienced higher end Wacom tablets
-hobbyists artists
-people who have not had good quality IPS monitors
-people looking for a Cintiq-like display without breaking their bankWouldn't recommend it to:
-people who have used Wacom tablets (Intuos and above) and are used to them
-professional users / serious artists*Note: if you intend to use two tablets from two different brands (e.g. Wacom Intuos and a XP-Pen display tablet) on one PC, keep in mind that there can be only ONE installed driver. You need to uninstall Wacom driver if you are using the XP-Pen tablet and vice versa.

Feedback on new Recolor artwork (in Beta now)
New redesigned Recolor artwork is available in Beta now.
We heard from many of you that the current Recolor is confusing and difficult to use. This new Recolor has a completely redesigned experience with an added ability to recolor your art based on your referenced images & artwork. We have broken the Recolor into two sections. When you invoke Recolor, you would see an on canvas dialogue that allows you to quickly Recolor your artwork with all the basic controls. For advanced settings, you can click on more options (...).
We would love to hear your candid feedback. Please provide your feedback on this thread. This will be actively monitored by the Illustrator team. If you don't have access to Beta please drop a note to me at: kotwal at Adobe dot com.
Known Issues:
1. The number of colors in the Recolor Palette doesn’t get updated on Mac.
2. Document get scrolled when dragging the color palette’s distribution slider to the left
3. A flicker of the color text box when dragging the Palette on Windows
4. Colour Wheel’s UI doesn’t get updated on changing Illustrator’s UI theme
5. Grabber on HUD is not clearly visible in dark theme
6. Performance lag while applying to recolour to Complex Artworks
7. Swatches group cannot be added from Library to swatch panel while HUD is active
Color distribution Palette at the bottom flickers when changes are made via slider — intermittent
8. Recolor Palette getting dismissed on changing color numbers to 1 -> All , Theme from None -> something else -> None
9. The linked file that was not loaded when used as source Artwork causes a crash
10. Assert on clicking on recolor button when the dialog is still active (or click twice)
11. Annotation remains on screen after the dismissal of dialog — rare (happens when hover theme picker cursor over a vector art and suddenly move to palette before the annotations disappear)
12. Asserts on applying to recolor to brush ArtNew redesigned Recolor artwork is available in Beta now.

Circles in Illustrator are not accurate
The circles in Illustrator are flawed and here's why.
I discovered a major bug in Illustrator CC. The circles in Illustrator are not accurate. This is the case regardless of whether you use the ellipse tool or the arc tool. Make a circle. Check the dimensions to make sure it's accurate. Draw a radius line at 0º. Copy it 3 times and rotate the copies 90º,180º and 270º. When all of the copied lines are put on the center of the circle, they all touch the inner edge of the circle perfectly. However, Copy the 0º line and rotate it 45º. Put it on the center of the circle. It doesn't touch the inner edge of the circle. Copy the 0º line and rotate it 18º. Put it on the center of the circle. It’s even farther away from the inner edge of the circle. The circle is flawed.
Here is another way to see that the circles are not accurate. Make a hollow circle. Copy it and change the color of it's line. Rotate the copy 18º. Put it onto the original circle. They do not line up accurately. I spent an hour with an Illustrator expert while he had control of my computer through the support portal. He came to the same conclusion as i did. For some reason the circles in Illustrator are not perfect. He has spoken to his superiors and they are giving this issue priority. They were very happy that i told them about this and will hopefully solve the problem. For those of us that must have perfect geometry in our work, this is a very important issue. The circles in Illustrator are flawed and here's why.

Ctrl+Scroll to zoom instead of Alt+scroll in Windows
Can you please add an option or something to change the zoom shortcut from ALT+Scroll to CTRL+Scroll?
Because in Windows the ALT button activates the app menu which is pretty stupid! Or at least disable the activation of the app menu with the ALT button. For example I zoom in using ALT+Scroll and now I want to select the Type tool using T on the keyboard and I get the Type drop down menu from the top (see attached screenshot).
And as you can see this can become very frustrating especially when spending hours in Illustrator!Btw please don't suggest other zooming methods as I like this one the best since it's the most useful and quicker.
Also the same goes for Photoshop as well on Windows. Can you please add an option or something to change the zoom shortcut from ALT+Scroll to CTRL+Scroll?

Add persistent Swatch libraries to Workspace settings + maintained across upgrades
Allow swatch libraries selected as persistent to be stored as part of a workspace (including palette group & position), and make them persistent across upgrades. I'm tired of having to recreate my palettes every **** time there's some minor 'agile' upgrade.

Remember scaling per file in Save for web
I design for printing and use 'Save for web and devices' to have crisp images.
E.g. I can have document 300x900mm, and then I export it as 600x1800px and have my snapped sharp lines to stay sharp.
But 'SfWaD' always immediately renders image at '100%' (which is not 100% at all at Windows — it's an another problem to be discussed), and I get 850x2551.
When my dimensions are bigger, AI sometimes can't even render an image and I get error message and pink fill in preview area.
I try to draw ten times smaller whenever is possible to avoid this, but sometimes it's not convenient.'Export for screens' doesn't provide direct custom scaling, only integers.
Proposed solution is too remember scaling in 'SfWaD'. In example given it could stick to the 70,6% after pressing 'Done' button.
But it will still require AI to render at 100% anyway, so the second better way is to skip immediate rendering and letting user to set values first (you can set an option for it).I design for printing and use 'Save for web and devices' to have crisp images.

Align panel: Objects touch edges
I draw as well as design web layouts in Ai, and I spend a lot of time sliding objects around on a pasteboard and using Smart Guides to snap them next to each other so they're touching. I'd like to add a set of features to the align panel that allow you to select two objets, define the target object with a second click, and then define which edge of the objects you want them to touch on: top, bottom, left, right.

Export for Screens without bleed option
Export screens without the bleed
I really like the feature called Export screens, but I do not really use it for print jobs, cause I can't export any picture format file without the bleed section of the document, which I use to show the client the stages of the job. Still, I could do the same with Save for web function, but it would be very very useful to export multiple artboards at the same time without the bleed.

Snap textframe size to content (like double-click in InDesign)
A function appreciated by all in InDesign.. doubleclick the side of the boundingbox of a textframe and it snaps/scales immediately to the content.
I'm not talking about Type -> Area Type Options -> Auto-size

Reinstate the Full Retype Editing Functionality
I have been a dedicated user of Adobe products and have greatly appreciated the advanced features that facilitate creative workflows. One such feature was the "Retype" function which allowed users to edit text directly within images. This feature was incredibly useful for many of us in the creative and professional fields, as it streamlined our processes and enhanced productivity.
However, the Retype feature now seems limited to only identifying similar fonts rather than enabling direct text editing within an image. This limitation has significantly impacted the utility of this tool.
Could you please consider reinstating the full functionality of Retype that allowed text editing directly within images? It was a distinctive and valuable feature that contributed to richer, more flexible creative processes.

Support architectural standards for arrow styles for Dimension tool
When the arrow style #21 is written on a drawing, it is marked inside the dimension extension line. International architectural drawing standards require that the mark be placed at the intersection of the extension line and the dimension line. Please improve this.

Allow to close Perspective Grid widget with any tool active, not only with Perspective Tools
MANY users don’t know how to disable Perspective Grid.
They don’t know about the View > Perspective Grid > Hide Grid menu command, and don’t even try to search for it, because they think that little 'x' is the only way to hide it...
...but that button only works when you have Perspective Grid Tool or Perspective Selection Tool picked, and does nothing when you have some other tool chosen.
The button never looks deactivated and lie to us about being clickable.
This modality makes zero sense.
Please allow to click it any time with any tool.14 votes -
OKHSL Color Model Support - Better than HSL
The HSL color model has a lot of issues with it and has been improved upon with OKHSL.
See this article—once you see the OKHSL color wheel, you will be sold instantly! Looks way better.
See attached images of HSL vs OKHSL.

Would be great to have this in Illustrator.

Allow users to change the default Area Type Options
I prefer to have 'x Height' as a First Baseline, instead of current default 'Ascent'.
I assume other users would like to change something else, like having 'Auto Size' always enabled from the beginning, or have a different vertical alignment (when will you rename it from the wrong 'Horizontal' to the correct 'Vertical'?! — vote here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/45711817)
I tried different ways to make these parameters hold — updating Paragraph styles, changing document profiles... it always defaults to these.

Rename embedded image
I want an ability to rename an embedded image.
Perhaps I don’t like the nonsense somebody else used to name it before embedding.
Or I just want to give it a name in Links, to be able to distinguish them better (and no, renaming an item in Layers does not do that). And please consider the other similar request about renaming a linked image:

Collapse panels menu item/keyboard shortcut
The ability to set a keyboard shortcut to collapse all panels would be really helpful and slick. I find myself leaving them open for expedience only to find the open panel is in the way, visually, later on. For those who set up their workspace differently they can just ignore it or disable the keyboard shortcut.

Display Measurement Labels when Snap to Grid is on
We can enable Measurement Labels in Preferences > Smart guides, to display a drawn line’s length, or width/height for shapes, or distance for moved objects.
Cool.
But once you enable Snap to Grid, labels stop being displayed.
I get it, Smart Guides stop work in terms of snapping and actual guides rendering, but why ditch labels? We still draw and move, and it’s maybe even more important with snapping on!14 votesThis is fixed in the latest Beta Build 29.5.0.15 — now the measurement labels are displayed when both Snap to Grid and Smart Guides are enabled. Background Export (not save)
Ai now can save documents in background (partially, but still) — it saves a lot of time.
InDesign, on the other hand, can export in background (well, some file types). What if exporting process go in background too, leaving Ai unlocked?

Add copy/apply choice to Offset Path
Most of the time, when using the Object > Path > Offset Path tool, I need to replace the original path, rather than add an offset copy of it. Currently, this requires me to offset the path (often multiple at once) and then delete the existing paths.
It would be much easier if Offset Path offered the same choice of "OK"(Apply and replace original path) and "Copy" as the transform tools.

export for screens, select: none
When I 'Export for Screens' and have loads of artboards I can select 'All' as a checkbox.
It would be good to be able to select none - instead of clicking the dozen or more select boxes to un-select artboards.
This would save heaps of time - its annoying not to have it.14 votes -
Rotate artboard with all objects, when the orientation of artboard changes or directly on canvas
It's possible to rotate the artboard, but the objects are still on their old positions.
I found the is a button to bind artboard and objects for MOVING the artboard together. Why does that not work for rotation? In the mean time I have written a small JavaScript to solve this: https://www.behance.net/gallery/125369255/Javascript-for-Illustrator-RotateArtboard
I hope, we can use a rotation of an artboard with it's objects soon in AI.

Make Keyboard Shortcuts and Action panel both see shared conflicts
You can assign F-keys to panels in Keyboard Shortcuts.
You can assign F-keys to actions in Actions.
But they know nothing about each other. When you try assign a combination that is already taken by another command, Keyboard Shortcuts window will warn you and give ways to solve the conflict... but not if the F-key-combination is taken by an action — it knows nothing about actions.
Same with Actions panel — it knows nothing about Keyboard Shortcuts and never warns you, if you try to set, say, Shift+F8, which will disable native Transform panel call.
Please let these two work in the same database and know about each other and warn users.
