Random crashing - 24.0.3
I have a brand new 16" MacBook Pro.
OS: Catalina 10.15.2. 32Gb Ram. 2.4 Gz Processor.
Illustrator 2020 v24.0.3
The app is constantly, randomly crashing. When waking up machine (10 min auto sleep) there is a message waiting that Illustrator has unexpectedly quit. ,And, now it seems hung up on launch.
Here's what I've done so far:
- Ran app diagnostics as recommended on restart. No info was provided.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled.
- Disabled lots of 3rd party extensions
- Restarted machine
- I have 90 crash reports.

In my case turning off "Displays have separate spaces" solved the problem.
Ahmad — I'm still experiencing multiple Illustrator crashes per day, even with automatic graphics switching turned off in system prefs.

Solved the problem
I am using Hot Door CAD tools but even after uninstalling it still crashes.
Giovanni — I'm also running the Astute suite, but I'm still experiencing crashes (even after the 24.2 Illy update and after uninstalling and reinstalling Astute).
Question for the group, sorry if it's already been asked:
How many people, using this config, are also running plugins?
I am running the Astute suite. Since the update to Ai 24.2, and the updated plugins, I have not experienced a random crash—that is probably 4 or five consecutive days! Previously I was experiencing up to several crashes per day, either from a sleep state, or from an extended period of working in another application, and switching back to Illustrator. This all may be temporary, but noted a significant change so I'm wondering if a third party may be at play here.
2 months? It's been 6 for me! A myriad of fixes, nothing resolves the issue. This is an obvious bug given the number of people experiencing it. And the hardware seems to be pretty specific... PLEASE FIX!
This is crazy. Been 2 months now and no fix. NOT HAPPY!
It's crazy. No matter how many updates. or how many times I reinstall. Same issue over and over again.
I've been an adobe user for well over 30 years... and this is the worst I've ever experienced with an adobe product.

I'm on my 3rd MBPro 16" with this exact same problem. It's crazy that I want to avoid closing the lid on my laptop or letting it fall asleep in fear of Adobe Illustrator crashing. On latest version of AI as of this post, 16" MBPro with 8-core i9 2.4, 1TB SSD, 64GB Ram and AMD 5500 card. We've got 4 MBPros with this same config at our office, and all of them do this and have done so since early January 2020 when we started buying this model/configuration.
Same problem. Very frustrating. Every time my Mac sleeps, without fail, Illustrator will have crashed upon wake. If I turn off GPU performance it does not crash, however the performance of the app is unacceptable this way.

Same Here Illustrator 24.1.2 on Catalina
I used to use the cracked version and I never had any crash, just when I decided to actually purchase the subscriptions is been nothing but problems. I lost my work so many times that its really unacceptable.
I use Astute pluggins and Fontbase. Illustrator always crash when my laptop goes to sleep mode, lately crashed while using the undo action..... I m without words..... if I knew this would be my daily stress I would stay on the cracked version.
I have already submit numerous crash reports to both Apple and Adobe but I guess we are just a drop in their ocean and therefore pay just to be hopeless.
same here with Adobe Illustrator 24.1.3 and OS X 10.15.5:
MacBook Pro (16", 2019) 2,3 GHz 8‑Core Intel Core i9
AMD Radeon Pro 5500 4GB
Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB
disabling GPU support in illustrator helps, but the GUI is then too slow

Tried all former suggestions, still crashes on system sleep. I report the crash every time. Upvoted!
Illustrator has crashed several times a day on me since I bought my 16 inch MacBook in December. Customer support has not helped.

Still randomly crashing as of the latest Illustrator update from 16 days ago
2019 16" MacBook Pro
2.3 core i9 / 32GB Ram / AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB.
Are all the issues associated with 16" MBP, dual graphics AMD Radeon Pro 5500M/Intel UHD Graphics 630 config? Wondering if this is the common thread?
Update. v23.1.1 crashed mid work. Contacting Adobe Reps and they are no help. Apple confirmed the computer was fine.
Same issue. Workhorse of a computer (2019 MBPro 16" - highest specs) and Illustrator is crashing and operating slower than it was with my mid 2014 MBPro with no where near the system I currently have. Worked with adobe since CS3 and never had an issue like this. I just moved back to v23.1.1 to see if there is any difference. Still seems slow.
Adobe and Apple need to get on the same page.

Yep — story of my life these days. Adobe apps go down hard every time I step away from my machine.
