Not constraining to 91 degrees & 136 degrees instead of 90 degrees & 135 degrees with shift
Even with constrain angle at 0 degrees & smart guides at 45 & 90 degree angles & turning all snapping options off:
holding down shift when rotating while drawing with line segment tool shows live angle snapping at 0, 45, then 91 & 136, then back to 180, 225, 270, 315, then 0 again.
When I release at what it says to be 91 or 136 degrees by my mouse -> I check the rotate properties in the right panel & the angles are correct at 90 & 135 degrees where they snapped.
So it's just displaying the wrong snapping…-

Lock Guides button in Properties is shown as depressed when the option is actually enabled
My guides are always set to locked (Ctrl + Alt + ;) but sometimes on loading the icon in the Properties panel is not pressed in or whatever the term is. I think my Illustrator gets into a state where the guides are neither locked or unlocked causing the issue with snapping to guides later. I found this morning that pressing that button a couple times fixes my issue.

Smart guides don't snap to or highlight guides when there is an object nearby
I don't know if this is mentioned in any of the other smart guides bugs, it didn't look like it. I have a guide that I need the reflect tool to snap to with smart guides. However, when I try to hover over the guide where an object is, the smart guides just don't recognize it, I have to go to where the guide is over the artboard to get the smart guides to show up. It may be because the guide is on the layer behind the art, but that is my locked reference layer, and I want it…

Snap to Point doesn’t help much to snap an object’s edge to another edge, even with Smart Guides
'Snap to point' in Illustrator is poor. You cannot currently snap objects together reliably. Results are inconsistent.
For example:
1) snapping a point to an edge does not work well, if at all. I have 'snap to point' on and smart guides enabled.
2) when using constrain with the Shift key, whether they be points or edges. Even with Snap to Point turned on, or using Smart Guides. Just something simple as drag-copying another box adjacent to itself does not snap together the edges. In my videos, the first video applies to point 1) and the second video at 10s,…

Adding new anchors with Pen tool when Snap to Grid is enabled is treated wrong and inconsistently
Illustrator allows to snap stuff to grid, but really doesn’t love doing it (here’s a request about the tolerance and how it’s to harsh in general: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/49616738)
Here in a GIF I’m creating a simple path with anchors placed on a grid. After closing the shape, I decide to add several points in-between, and have them on the grid as well... but the only anchor I can place normally is the one in the middle, that happen to be exactly (within an unknow tolerance) at the intersection of the grid lines (and the cursor gets a + to indicate…

Snap to point no longer works after update
Updated to 29.3.1, snap to point stopped working despite being turned on. I rolled back to 29.3, and it works like normal.

I can no longer move my objects freely
I can no longer move my objects freely as before, they are forced to be moved as if there were pixels. The methods are similar to InDesign and I can't be as precise as before because I'm forced to put an object in a place I don't want. How can i deactivate that or which settings should I change? I cant find anything.

Line Extension Smart Guide not working
I recently updated my Illustrator to 2025 and my smart guides are on but when I extend a line now it is no longer snapping to "Line Extension". I have verified that in my preferences under Smart Guides, "Anchor/ Path Labels" is turned on. Not sure if this is a bug with the new update or what is going on.

Repositioning an existing dimension does not really allow to snap the dimension line’s position
When we create a new dimension with Smart Guides enabled, it snaps to an existing dimension quite fine: by the line, by the anchor, just by proximity. The precision is strong, the snapping has a distinct ledge.
If I try to reposition on re-snap an existing dimension to another one though...
It doesn't work.
See the GIF attached, please.
Illustrator highlights the neighboring line, it tries to persuade you it snaps... but there is no ledge felt, no snapping happens, the line does no stop exactly at the position needed. It’s just broken. And since we can’t define a default…

Auto-snapping is unreliable
Snapping function is often unreliable, snapping to unintuitive objects (fx. an object on an offscreen artboard rather than one next to the object being moved)
Further - snapping allignment is unreliable, often claiming to snap to allign with an edge, but when placed being off by a tiny bit, scewing layouts.

Strange behaviour when scaling rectangles
In Illustrator 28.4.1 on Windows 11, if a rectangle is rotated to 45, 135, 225, or 315 degrees, it isn't able to be reliably manually scaled. Some edge and corner handles snap to unpredictable positions when dragged.

Windows 11 enhance pointer precision
If Windows 11 mouse setting "enhance pointer precision" is off, then Smart Guides and Snapping will not work in Adobe Illustrator v28.
Turning it back on will "fix" the Smart Guides/Snapping, but it'd be nice if we could turn this off and still have Illustrator do what Illustrator should do.2 votes -
Shift + Reflect (O) tool is too jittery to be usable
The Shift + Reflect (O) command does a very poor job of constraining a reflection. The reflection jitters regularly – sometimes it takes several tries to complete a simple 90 degree reflection. Can the tolerances please be loosened off a bit so that constraining with shift is more useful. I have noticed this behaviour over several versions of illustrator.

Smart Guides not working most of the time
The Smart guides are not working correctly anymore. When trying to move or add an anchor point there are no smart guides to help align it. If I want use the object tool there are no guides while hovering unless a random object in my canvas is selected, then all of a suddeny smart guides work again. Once an object is created then it always has smart guides available when moving but not when trying to create it aka hovering with the object tool.

Clip groups snap to grid by their clipped contents and not the mask
Snap to Grid option doesn't work properly for Clipping Masks.
Instead of snapping the boundaries of the Clipping Mask to the grid, Illustrator snaps to the grid the bounding box of the masked object hidden under the mask.11 votes -

This happens when Snap to Grid is enabled. Even when invisible, it still affects snapping and prevents Smart Guides from assisting to snapping at artboard’s edges.

Smart Guides do not work properly in large documents
I don't know if this is a recent problem with the 2023 version on Illustrator, but when I'm working on very large documents, smart guides simply do not work. I have to zoom really close to be able to snap and align this correctly. I believe that the behavior of such functionally should be scalable and independent of zoom levels.

Artboard Snapping is broken when creating a new artboard
If you're creating a new artboard, you can snap the edges of the artboard to previously created artboards.
However, if you hold SHIFT to constrain proportions (handy if you're making social size assets for example), the snapping no longer works, even though you'll still see the snapping points.
Furthermore, when you constrain proportions, the artboard location will be a decimal point, meaning if you Export For Screens, you'll get extra pixels added to your artboard thanks to a different unrelated illustrator bug.
Video attached.

Snap to point
Why do you have to zoom right in almost to get points to snap to each other properly? Do you understand how disruptive to workflow this is? It seems to be a real issue when not zoomed right in to an image. This is very annoying!
