Global Process Colors get added twice when added from a CC library, lose their name and become Spot colors.
Create a Global Process Color Swatch and add it to a CC library.
In a new document, select this color in the library, right click and choose
Add to Swatches.
The color gets added 2 times, becomes a spot color and loses it’s name.
Or, in a new document double click the color in the Library. It gets added only once, keeps it’s name but becomes a Spot color.
- CC libraries does not have support for Global Process Colors
- Some users have spoken about InDesign – InDesign does not support Global Process colors
- Illustrator does support process colors , global process colors and spot colors. The issue is specefic to global process colors – since it is not supported in CC Libraries. We have added the request to support in CC libraries backlog,
- Create Process colors in Illustrator and add it to CC libraries – deselect the global checkbox
This is superbly annoying, please fix it!

I had the same issue. Wouldn't like to redo all over again on Indesign. Does this bug has been fixed?

I work in screen printing and have a CC library saved for my standard ink colors. If i try to edit the color mix of one of my swatches it converts to process and wont let me convert back to spot color. I have to delete the swatch and make a new one to add back to my library.
Drop a 4CP swatch into CC Library, it retains its name. Add it to another Illustrator file from the Library, its name in the new file is its 4CP breakdown, and now it's a Spot swatch. The Spot thing is workaroundable, but losing the swatch names just makes Library a waste of time.
was happening for me as well.
Use indesign to create the CC Library and that won't happen.
I've also noticed that viewing CMYK swatches on the website library only shows RGB and HEX breakdowns for the colour so it's difficult to tell what you've added. This is still unchanged in CC 2018.
I have this also.
Create a Global Process Color Swatch
Add it to a CC Library.
Use it in another document.
The process color has become a Spot color.
